I several times saw drawings of the London Fancy in old books and thought everytime what a pity that this breed is gone. Thanks to Mr. Knowles and his fellow breeders for the effort to bring them back! Best regards from Austria!
I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve watched this video. I know when I finally get back into the hobby it’s the London fancy I would like to work with. Over thirty years ago I remember seeing a picture of one in cage and aviary ( well a model of one ) and couldn’t get over the fact they where almost if not gone . The work that Richard and others are putting in is outstanding.
Wow some fantastic birds there, and it looks like there getting stronger each year, fabulous birds Richard and very dedicated to get these birds back up and running 😍😍😍 very interesting video thanks for sharing
Just feel the love of Richard for the London fancy canary ...this made me loving more this bird... Fantastic job is done by this Gentleman, working in silence .. Thanks Sir Richard Also thanks Matt for this new amazing episode
"...we've moved on to a new level..." Understatement of the year!!! And at the end: his simple rundown of the basics that 'don't cost a fortune' and saying "... it is a hobby that you can be a part of with a minimum amount of money." is a good reminder. :)
I greatly enjoyed this episode and have been watching the updates in C&A. Huge congratulations to Richard for his work with this fantastic breed. I would be very interested in seeing how we may be of more practical support for this particular project. Well done Canary room. Best episode to date!
I can remember about 45 year's ago a old canary breeder telling me about this bird. He was saying his Dad and Grandfather keeping This bird. But war came and the house's in the street both of them lived in got 💣. Flattering the houses and out buildings. Killing the birds when the men were at war in France. When they can back their hearts was not in it. Thank god this Gentleman is bringing it back. Thank you for letting us see them. Instead of in paper's and book's.
My respect for the persons who are bringing this extinct beautiful canary breed back. Here in the Netherlands there are also a few breeders working with the London fancy. I saw them for the first time at the world show a couple of years ago and was very impressed by them. Very interesting episode, thank you for sharing this with is! 👍👍👍
Great video Matt, as allways!! I am glad you approached the London Fancy family to your channel. I am also a London Fancy breeder in Spain and enjoyed a lot with this chapter.

Please I look for tips on how to keep canaries cosy at winter???
As long as they’re not in draughty environments they’ll be fine
Very interesting , can it be done if we tried here in Australia
You’d need the right birds to start with but don’t see why not
@@TheCanaryRoom what do we need to try , Lizard and Borders or Satinettes , my Husband and I have Borders, Fifes and Mosaics
Well done takes a lots of time
Matt did you ever get your book published?
Not yet!
Ma i sottotitoli in Italiano?
up now
cannot get any sound on apple mac air
Hi Ruth, I’m perplexed I use a MacBook Pro to edit it
Do you ever interview people who breed canaries for their singing ability? I guess they don't have classes at shows for them. 😕
I’m trying to get one with Rollers Vicky
