At our age, nobody cares what we look like! Main thing is, you are out doing stuff! I’m walking from Foxhill to Uffington on Saturday and will cook my lunch on my Trangia. My adventures have been fuelled by you! You are an inspiration, mate 👍
Great to see you conferring with the ancestors. You won’t find a landscape like that anywhere else in the world. It’s the definition of England. It’s rolling hills & fertile land. Beautiful part of the world you live. Thank you for sharing it. Andy
There is true freedom in the countryside, I love it. I would go crazy if I wasn't able to get out to walk. It is beautiful land where you are, its heathland and woods here but I love it all. Thankyou Lord that we are able to wander and walk these places it is a wonderful blessing.
Love your videos Sandy. 💕💕. You are very fortunate living in Wiltshire such a beautiful area steeped in ancient history. Great safe overnight camp site for you to pitch your tent nestled under the evergreen boughs away from the wind. Thanks for allowing us to join you ❤️. Judy🇨🇦🇨🇦
I did enjoy this adventure and the place I camped "Knighton Bushes" was a Romano British settlement around 2000 years ago, lots of history in Wiltshire
We remember those places from twenty some years ago; Wayland’s Smithy was very green that hot summer (2003). We had fun looking at the thousands of coins pressed into the bark of the trees, folks wanting a blessing on their unborn children or trying to become pregnant. We tromped around the Uffington long barrow as well, and of course the White Horse, Old Sarum, Avebury, Stonehenge, and the lot. Nice country but very warm that August. The wife was in the throes of history overload, but we both loved it. Thanks for the memories.
A lovely episode of Wiltshire Man. Every episode is like a friendly hug 😊 Watching your motorcycle trips makes me want to learn how yo ride a motorcycle and get out and about. Did we see you setting off the speed limit sign zooming down that hill 😂
Hi Sandy. Another lovely post. I so look forward to your new vids on your channel and yes I would like you to go out every week to be able to post so something. And yes I’m subscribed to Keep Smiling I have been for a while….Where has he NOT been cycling. Anyways….take care, keep cycling n posting…best Ws …R
It's the weight Dickie, I only have 1HP to the pedals (human power) so got to go ultra light on the push bike :) Maybe take more kit and grub when I do a local Woodland camp on the E bike or motor bike:)
Ah, to live on the chalk! My grandparents lived in Mere for the last years of their lives and walked the ancient pathways. Both gone now but wonderful memories of visits down to Wiltshire ❤️
Thanks for sharing this wonderful vlog Sandy, just goes to show what yo can do, if we make the effort to get out, even when the weather isn’t so good. Good shot of the aircraft too., cheers.
Aye it's a tad slippery under tyre at the minute Sandy. Wheels to Wander are a channel I like, a young Dutch couple who cycle all over. I will check that channel too. that was great wee spot to camp - very stealthy and quiet. Wiltshire like many counties is blessed with beautiful landscapes. Thanks for posting Sandy.
Nice one sandy ❤ gravity and the Wiltshire man 😂 love it. Nice to hear the birdsong sandy it’s coming alive again after winter thank goodness and the nights are getting out a bit more 👍♥️☺️ love to all the family carmen and zeta ❤❤❤❤
That was a nice ride Sandy. A little dryer would be a little nicer but the weather is bonkers so might as well get out wile you can. If we wait for nicer weather, it might never come.
Hi Sandy. Been watching your stuff for over a year now. Haven't commented before. Just to say I really enjoy them. Loved your choice of music in this one and you get better and better with the cinematography every time. Keep it up, there's a lot of us really enjoying your videos 😊
Fantastic Sandy. Enjoyed that immensely. Just what I loved doing when I was your age and a good bit younger.. That makes me sound old!! Out in the wilds on your own, with a bike or on foot, with just a little tent and minimal gear - that's the perfect adventure. Keep doing it my friend. Love to all, Noel
The best bit of that was you trundelling down the hill, just like a 9 year old Sandy, just don't grow up. Great to see you out and about whilst us mere mortals have to cower indoors. Cheers Sandy
I'm glad your Garmin is working again, Sandy. As always a nice video and no matter how muddy the way is, you keep on going. With a great sense of humour, thanks a lot for taking us with you!
thanks for showing a Scotsman round your home county of Wiltshire ,what a lovely interesting place ,i have been in Devizes a few times through work many years ago but never got the chance to explore the countryside,,when you mentioned and filmed the Longbarrow i couldnt help thinking and comparing the fictional barrow downs from Lord of the Rings a very mysterious and dangerous place,,love your videos and thanks for your efforts,,really enjoy watching
Nice to see you back on your bike having a small camp out looked a bit muddy in places after all the rain stay safe and stay healthy one life enjoy blessed be
Nice one Sandy , a great trip in a lovely tucked away wood. We’ve had nothing but rain up here , pretty grim. 😂 Here’s to more bike camping trips as the weather warms up 🚲⛺️👍
Hi Sandy , good to see your brakes were still working after all that mud. Quite an achievement to tackle some of those tracks this time of year I have only been that way in the dryer times. It is a shame some of the byways tracks are made worse by motorised vehicles, I suppose we have to live with sharing, but it does spoil the tracks. At least you did not have to share your pastie with Elvin Smith. 👍👍.
My biggest concern was mud getting on the chain and wrecking the rear mech, that happened to me on the KAW Charles. I'm glad I can peddle the bike, my hip wasn't sore at all. I reckon I've got a lot more miles left in my legs but I'm not a fast rider as you can no doubt tell from Strava:)
Agreed Sandy along with Susanna on her Brompton and yourself, my favourite UA-cam cycling channel. I've still no idea how he bikepacks without a roll mat.
I have also wondered how the hell he can be comfortable just laying onn the cold ground, I guess he is putting some spare clothing beneath him maybe? I also learned something from watching a recent video where he was comparing the Lanshan 1 to the Alpkit tarpist, I spotted an inflatable Vee Pillow :)@@billhambelton7698
Really enjoyable film Sandy. I liked the accompanying music as well. That was a nice sheltered little spot you found amongst the trees. Thanks for making the film.
Another cracking film Sandy I'd rather settle in with a night viewing of you getting it done, must really organise myself come early spring and get out regularly, good on you. Will check out the other channel, thanks. Harry
Wow, I always get a buzz when I see the smithy, an amazing and glorious place. Thankyou Sandy, indeed it is glorious I tells ya hahaha....!!!! West Kennet is an incredible place, probably my very favourite. I have always preferred Dragon hill to white horse hill, there is a beautiful energy on Dragon hill. Lovely to see the downs, no houses, no cars, no people.... BLISS !!!!!! Be well Sandy
Another inspiring video Sandy. Sad to think that we are the last of those who, in our youth, touched the stones at Stonehenge and clambeted to the top of Silbury Hill (just as it was being excavated by one of the universities) just a very short while before it collapsed at the tip and was closed to the public (they never did work out it was due to us)😂. I see you mamaged to get the Cornish Pasty in! Plenty more to go at.. ECCLES CAKE, BAKEWELL TARTS, CHELSEA BUNS, FAT RASCALS, TOTTENHAM CAKE, BEDFORDSHIRE CLANGERS, MANCHESTER TARTS...CHIP BUTTYS! Food for thought indeed.
Cracking video again Sandy, so interesting that Barrow and wow, what the world was like back then. So I see exactly why you need to escape every day life and it's great to be part of your escape. You went down that last hill like I used to ride 50 years ago ..... Flat out! Loved it ! Take great care mind...... Best wishes, P & M
Glad you enjoyed it Pete, I always try and think what it would have been like back in the distant past, no doubt a lot more tree's and wilderness and wolves and bear:)
I do love a good Ridgeway video, Sandy. I've been meaning to get on there for a few years now, but it's yet to happen. Hopefully this year will be the one.
The Downs are a beautiful place. An ancient landscape that fills me with energy. History is everywhere when you take time to soak it up and know what you are looking for.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the effort that goes into it. I cycled Swindon -> Albourne -> Swindon yesterday. I took a byway out of Albourne via Lower Lodge Barn. It was a total nightmare. Just a car wide and with massive wheel ruts that were too deep and narrow to allow pedalling and very slippery clay (no grass). It was hard to even walk along and cycling was out of the question. Next time I'll think twice about taking a byway!
Hi Andy, the byeways are in a hell of a state at the moment and only really usable by 4x4 vehicles, the bridleways are better but also some of those are not too good either and badly poached up in places
Fantastic video like yourself I'm very lucky to live in the countryside you just can't beat it your videos are very relaxing and you have a very calming voice keep up the fantastic video's there always a pleasure to watch
At our age, nobody cares what we look like! Main thing is, you are out doing stuff! I’m walking from Foxhill to Uffington on Saturday and will cook my lunch on my Trangia. My adventures have been fuelled by you! You are an inspiration, mate 👍
Thats a nice walk Dave, I know that stretch of the Ridgeway very well:)
Great to see you conferring with the ancestors. You won’t find a landscape like that anywhere else in the world. It’s the definition of England. It’s rolling hills & fertile land. Beautiful part of the world you live. Thank you for sharing it. Andy
Yes Andy, very true :)
Thanks again Sandy. Wonderful video. You put in such a lot of work for our pleasure. Cheers Mark
Sandy, the multi talented bloke whom you could listen to all afternoon over a couple of pints..and a pork pie. 👍
Hahaaa, A pork pie and a pint, would go well together :)
There is true freedom in the countryside, I love it. I would go crazy if I wasn't able to get out to walk. It is beautiful land where you are, its heathland and woods here but I love it all. Thankyou Lord that we are able to wander and walk these places it is a wonderful blessing.
Our ancestors certainly had a fascination with shifting large stones and piling dirt. Silly buggers.
Ah, but what they did stood the test of time:)
Wonderful! Thank you Sandy!
Your channels are great....
Thankyou
Hi Sandy, another enjoyable video, touching base with the Neolithic. Keep them coming buddy, and you might even find another wizard tree 👍
That would be nice Mark, a Wizards tree with some nice beer :)
Well, if anyone can find one Sandy, its deffo you 😄
We remember those places from twenty some years ago; Wayland’s Smithy was very green that hot summer (2003). We had fun looking at the thousands of coins pressed into the bark of the trees, folks wanting a blessing on their unborn children or trying to become pregnant. The wife was in the throes of history overload, but we both loved it. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks Gary, yes there are coins and other votive offerings left in trees and stones. Thanks for watching and glad it brought back some nice memories
Love it Sandy!
Thanks Bruce:)
Love it Sandy...
A lovely episode of Wiltshire Man. Every episode is like a friendly hug 😊
Watching your motorcycle trips makes me want to learn how yo ride a motorcycle and get out and about.
Did we see you setting off the speed limit sign zooming down that hill 😂
Thank you for the video. Have a great day 😊
Thanks for watching Steve
I wish I could get more free time Ron, Hopefully out again soon
brilliant Sandy
Another great film Sandy.. Your truly happy and content whilst exploring our ancient homeland .. ..Bit gutted you didn’t cook anything though 😉😄👍
It's the weight Dickie, I only have 1HP to the pedals (human power) so got to go ultra light on the push bike :) Maybe take more kit and grub when I do a local Woodland camp on the E bike or motor bike:)
Another epic trip!
Ah, to live on the chalk! My grandparents lived in Mere for the last years of their lives and walked the ancient pathways. Both gone now but wonderful memories of visits down to Wiltshire ❤️
Fantastic video, beautiful area to , and yes definitely wild camping does offer freedom with in reason,
I love Keep smiling adventures & your channel, & Jethro Jessop , Wouldn't it be funny if you got Gingsters sponsorship.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful vlog Sandy, just goes to show what yo can do, if we make the effort to get out, even when the weather isn’t so good. Good shot of the aircraft too., cheers.
Thanks Richard, it was just a simple adventure really but was very enjoyable
Free wheeling downhill, nothing beats it, worth all the effort of slogging it uphill.
Thanks Mark, I have watched some of "Wheels to Wander" :)
You have made a lovely life for yourself Sandy. I’m envious but very grateful you share some of it with us. 👍
Hahaa, not always lovely, I do have a few health issue's but getting out really does help me

Spring is definitely here now Marcus, bushes are starting to green up, nettles and foliage is growing and the birds are singing
That was a nice ride Sandy. A little dryer would be a little nicer but the weather is bonkers so might as well get out wile you can. If we wait for nicer weather, it might never come.
Spring has started Jim, weather improving but has been a very wet winter

What a Route, one for the Bank :) 😀
We need to make the most of our time as you do because one day we won’t be able to to and it be too late. Beautiful farm land.
There's a saying I try to live by, "Don't be afraid of death, but be afraid of never having lived"!
Interesting video there Sandy, lovely country to take us through too.
Wiltshire is steeped in History as is Dartmoor Si
Hi Sandy. Been watching your stuff for over a year now. Haven't commented before. Just to say I really enjoy them. Loved your choice of music in this one and you get better and better with the cinematography every time. Keep it up, there's a lot of us really enjoying your videos 😊
Thanks Doug I try my best and improving slowly hopefully. Many more adventures to follow
Thank you Sandy. Your video gave me great pleasure !
I'm pleased to hear that, thanks for watching
I hardly ever camp ,but I love watching your wild camping videos.

Love to all,
Noel
You can't beat getting out into Nature Noel. The Click stand stove will be my stove of choice for bike packing and touring:)
The best bit of that was you trundelling down the hill, just like a 9 year old Sandy, just don't grow up. Great to see you out and about whilst us mere mortals have to cower indoors. Cheers Sandy
Hahaa, Giot to get out there Ralph:)
Yep don't grow up it's a trap!😮😉

I'm glad your Garmin is working again, Sandy. As always a nice video and no matter how muddy the way is, you keep on going. With a great sense of humour, thanks a lot for taking us with you!
Me too, for some reason it just would not turn on then after 15 minutes booted up:)
What wonderful freedom to do that Sandy, you are very blessed. Beautiful views and you can’t beat a Cornish Pasty .
It's nice to be just out in the Fresh air Anne:)
Uffington Long Barrow! Good job in spotting it, took me quite a while to find it when I visited in early summer, March looks the best time to visit 🙂
I was overjoyed to find the barrow, getting a good eye for various humps and bumps in the landscape now:)
thanks for showing a Scotsman round your home county of Wiltshire ,what a lovely interesting place ,i have been in Devizes a few times through work many years ago but never got the chance to explore the countryside,,when you mentioned and filmed the Longbarrow i couldnt help thinking and comparing the fictional barrow downs from Lord of the Rings a very mysterious and dangerous place,,love your videos and thanks for your efforts,,really enjoy watching
I read Lord of the Rings many years ago, a great read and yes those barrows were very dangerous

Brakes didn't want to work as well as hoped :)
Nice one Sandy, we are so blessed to be living so close to such wonderful ancient landscapes and views .
Nice one Sandy , a great trip in a lovely tucked away wood. We’ve had nothing but rain up here , pretty grim. 😂
Here’s to more bike camping trips as the weather warms up 🚲⛺️👍
I'm hoping to get a lot of bike packing done this year Dave. It has been a very wet Winter

Im hoping to go wild camping Sandy with the teenagers, now the Winter is over, so your videos the past year or 2 have been valuable. Thank you.

Thanks again Sandy. 🙏
We all need to escape the madness at times. Enjoyed that 👍
Thanks Ken and Carol:) The world is in a right pickle at the moment
Great vid, Sandy. Really captured the spirit of adventure and discovery. Nice spot to camp, too.
It's what life is all about Steve, Just have to get out and seize the day!
Thanks for bringing us all along again Sandy. Love the pasty nod to Josh's channel.
Hi Bill, Josh has one of the best channels on UA-cam as far as I'm concerned. He's a great, maybe even a Legendary cyclist:)
Another brilliant video very enjoyable as usual
One of your best videos yet Sandy, so envious!
Glad you enjoyed the video Bargos
Really enjoyable film Sandy. I liked the accompanying music as well. That was a nice sheltered little spot you found amongst the trees. Thanks for making the film.
A wonderful video, I love your enthusiasm for your local country and really enjoyed your big kid moment downhill. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Paul, I do a lot of local stuff but hope to get further away sometimes:)
Another cracking film Sandy I'd rather settle in with a night viewing of you getting it done, must really organise myself come early spring and get out regularly, good on you. Will check out the other channel, thanks. Harry
Thanks Harry, only we can make our selves do stuff, I hope the coming Spring with nicer weather will give you some extra "getup and go":)
I shall no doubt visit West Kennet again at some point Bry:)
Hahaa, plenty of ideas there Peter:)
Great video Sandy must visit the Longbarrow
I can take you to the Barrow when you visit if you like Peter, an Ebike ride perhaps?
Cracking video again Sandy, so interesting that Barrow and wow, what the world was like back then. So I see exactly why you need to escape every day life and it's great to be part of your escape.
You went down that last hill like I used to ride 50 years ago ..... Flat out! Loved it ! Take great care mind...... Best wishes, P & M
Glad you enjoyed it Pete, I always try and think what it would have been like back in the distant past, no doubt a lot more tree's and wilderness and wolves and bear:)
You are an inspiration, Sandy.
Re enchanting the mystical landscape of Logres.
I do love a good Ridgeway video, Sandy. I've been meaning to get on there for a few years now, but it's yet to happen. Hopefully this year will be the one.
Ridgeway is lovely, you can get a good sense of remoteness up there
Love your trips Sandy - thanks for sharing.
Great video Sandy. Thanks for sharing your camp and your local countryside
Great watch, thank you 👍
👍👍👍👍👍
The Downs are a beautiful place. An ancient landscape that fills me with energy. History is everywhere when you take time to soak it up and know what you are looking for.
This is very true, it's an ancient landscape
Absolutely brilliant.
Thank you for your wonderful and informative tour of Wiltshire.
Keep up the good work.
Jeanians
Many thanks Jeanians
Sandy what a lovely county (Wiltshire) we live in. Thank you for showing me parts I have never seen.
Good to see you out and about, reckon you will have some adventures this year. cheers
Thats the plan Oz, lets hope so anyway:)
Fantastic video like yourself I'm very lucky to live in the countryside you just can't beat it your videos are very relaxing and you have a very calming voice keep up the fantastic video's there always a pleasure to watch
Thanks Gavin
Nice Sandy
Thanks for this wonderful and informative video, I really enjoyed this one, you are really living life to the full. 👍
One has to live whilst there is living to be done:)
That was brilliant, Sandy. Thanks for sharing. 🏕🙂
Glad you enjoyed it Brian:)
