I've just in the last couple of hours completed a 160 mile trip, (of which about 80% was motorway), and I averaged 28mpg. This is in a bigger, heavier car with the 5.5L which is very likely to be a little more inefficient than this guys.
Either there is a little wrong with his or he doesn't know how to use the gas pedal smoothly.
I have to return home in an hour or two and that's going to be 130 miles across country - will update when complete.
So just got back, exactly 289 miles covered. Brimmed the tank when leaving and reset the odometer. At the end of the trip filled up to the click again at the same fuel station. 11.16 gallons used => 25.89mpg!!!
@@gottliebdee263 I mean like its a sports car why would you ride it like and grandpa? At those vehicles you dont look at the fuel consumption. Its worth it and its normal that this uses so much fuel
Not many people realise this but the performance amg exhaust is standard on the coupe only and has to be specced from brand new on all the other models (not 100% 🤔on the cabriolet) easy way to check if there is a exhaust button near where the handbrake (should be😂)
The fact that l average 25 mpg at best (urban) in my 1.6 3 cylinder Yaris GR puts the 4 LITRE V8 TWIN TURBO 470bhp C63 into perspective - tbh making it exceptional on fuel - the C63 would be doing 9 mpg at best to be compared to the Yaris. I have owned many hot hatches plus the old 6.2 C63 & a ISF Lexus (5litre V8) and they all varied between 17 to 25 mpg urban - the sound alone is worth the extra gallon!! Compare fuel to a price of a pint and you will feel better😂😂

To be honest you might want to get your engine chipped or a full proper service. Because I used to own a C63 same year as yours and i used to get low 20s quite easily.

Really there are two kinds of V8. Biggest difference is flat plane and cross plane and although there may be some overlap in character depending on who manufactures it and how they manufacture it. You usually have the choice of two distinct soundtracks;
The race V8 - think Ferrari with its harder edge and high revving ability.
The muscle car V8 - this is where you'll find a lot of the American stuff and things like a Range Rover. These have the very bassy and creamy sound to them.
The car sounds way, way, better at low revs where the bass really comes to the fore. Try starting it in an enclosed space for best effect.

I'm perpetually salty that the German government supports e cars with 3_9000 bucks but not motorcycles. Ktm Duke 690 does 4.5l at normal German pace with a bit of fun, 3.2l at 80-90kmh in boring mode. 8.5 at constant 200-250kmh. As measured by German magazine Motorrad. So damn fuel efficient but nothing but hate against motorcycles. The boring Honda nc700 got 4l average total in their 50k km test
