My 2008 5mt seems to want to stall periodically when i have the traction control on. I sometimes turn it on by accident by hitting the button with my knee and forget about it but thats a serious problem for me cause ive stalled a few times going 30 40 mph in traffic lol . my car seems to run better with it off and when i bought it that stood out to me that it was off . any thoughts? Once again im pretty sure this is the issue as i havent had any others like this 😃

This more than likely is not fully disabling the traction control. Just makes you feel better about it.

So I'm assuming I hold it for 15 seconds to fully disable it

Yes, holding it for about 15 seconds should fully disable it.

When I push the button, the light comes on, but when I try to put it in a slide it still kicks in. Does anyone else have this issue? I have a 2018 Impreza.

    • @Mittis_bot
      @Mittis_bot Рік тому

That isn't traction control kicking in that is your ABS system thinking you are veering off a cliff. The impreza models have no way of disabling the ABS without disabling all systems.

@@Mittis_bot I miss the old days when you could just pull the lever and do a lil slidin. :(

I gotta 2014 impreza sport, you just gotta get the right conditions like rain and snow or ice and you can slide it anywhere.

So if you actually talk to the dealership on this VERY BAD misleading info from Subaru. So when the button is on your traction control is at 100%, then you go and you push the button to Turn off the traction control (your traction control is NOT off) it only shuts off 40% so you think your traction control is off when in fact it is really at 60% on I stead of the full 100%.
Yes this is a true fact.. check it out yourself at any Subaru dealership. They are completely misleading everyone...
I have a 2018 Subaru Impreza and when I first got mine I took it out to the track to see what it can actually do.. (I use to race cars) When I shut so called shut off the traction control and took a Sharpe corner I could still feel the ass end of my car wanting to break when I only had my foot into the gas. I spent a good couple hours testing the car...
After realizing this I went over to the Subaru dealership where I bought the car and talked to them..
They admitted to me that no it does not shut off all the traction control only 40% and 60% stays on.
I asked them if they could program it to shut off 80% and leave 20% on and they said no it was against Subaru company safety rules, any dealership doing so could be fined or loose they Dealership license with Subaru...
So if you want more then 40% of your traction control to be turned off when you hit that button on the lower left hand side of the dash as the video shows above then you need to find a local small shop around town that will do that for you... It will not be easy to find and most do not want to liability risk involved but there will be one out there somewhere. If you really want it you will find it...

Not turning the traction control off all the way is a safety feature that helps keep people that think they are “expert drivers” from is losing control of their car. Keeping a certain percentage of traction control on is is not just something Subaru does, pretty much all car manufacturers do that. I’m pretty sure what you described as the back end of the car not wanting to slide around is a result of the stability control which helps keep the car pointed in the direction the steering wheel is. The traction control system is totally separate and it simply helps the car keep it’s tires from slipping on take off.

@@porsche558 no not all car manufacturer keep part of it on, only a small hand full do... Also if a customer comes in to ask them to shut it off, then they should shut it off... I had to have someone hack my car and play with the software to shut mine off...
And your right 85% of the people if not more don't know how to really drive a car. But the ones that do should be able to have it completely shut off.
I love my Subaru and even more so once I had the traction crap turned off completely.

@@porsche558 BTW right after I bought the car new I went into the dealership and asked them to turn off my "Hill Assest" and that for some is a safety feature, that are not good at driving a stick shift. They turned mine off no questions asked... I was in and out in 30 min...
So they should have turned off my traction control to while they were at it. Lol lol
