#WagakkiBand #和楽器バンド #WGB
They do love to put on a show, all the members are great performers as well as being very talented musicians.
These three represent the contemporary side of Wagakki Band. Machiya on guitar and also the composer, Asa on bass and the drummer goes by the name of Wasabi, incidentally he has his own UA-cam channel which is quite entertaining if you want to study his technique more closely
The drummer's name is "Sasaki Akira" better known as Wasabi. The youngest member of the Wagakki band.
You should check out the drum battle between Wasabi and Kurona.
There are two good one from Daishinnenkai 2018 and one from Daishinnenkai 2022 available
Oh yeah I need to see that battle :)
Wasabi-san is AMAZING. So is the rest of the band. Love them all. Beni and Machiya are running around in a car, playing small shows as a two-piece. Beni is even doing some singing.
@@TheCyberMantis I've been watching them also. It's just amazing the amount of talent of the entire group, both singly or all together. I don't think there is another group in the world that has such diverse and incredible talent, led by the finest frontwoman on the planet, Yuko Suzuhana. A true supergroup.
@@mikeat2637 Everything you said is true.
@@TheCyberMantis Have you watched any of the videos of Machiya and Beni doing gigs while Yuko was handling being a new mom ? They do very well together. Beni is the Goddess of Shamisen. Have you checked out any of Ni Ni Music ? She's from Taiwan and does folk metal and folk rock on an amazing number of different stringed instruments. Her work is flawless.
There is a certain irony, that these three could play on a plain stage with simple lighting and blow the majority of those 70's groups out of the water.
For me Japan has always been a hotbed for music, they take what the world has done and then perfect it in there own unique way,
You only have to look at all the underground jazz clubs in Tokyo, not to mention casiopea and how they pushed things forward,
Add to that bands like ningen isu, band maid, baby metal, dir en grey, x Japan,ZZZs, maximum the hormone etc etc they never miss
Before UA-cam I found most my music through anime credits but now the world has opened up we all get to find it with a few clicks
Yup some of the Japanese jazz is next level
Oh and you will LOVE Japan, I have been 5 times now and haven’t even scratched the surface, the live music scene is amazing, music everywhere. We once went to a curry house in shinjuku and they apologised because it was a live music night, that night was a New Orleans style big band set up and it was probably the best show I have ever seen while eating a curry,
They were so passionate and excited to meet some UK peeps enjoying there stuff
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Absolutely Andrew, Tokyo Groove Jiyoshi, Uko Saxy, The Sax Triplets, TGJ's Twin Base, Juna Serita and a host of others.
This could have been a video highlighting guitar, bass or drums. Such is the musicianship in this band.
Oumura Shin-san is showing his "Steve Vai" side!
People like to throw around Baby Metal as 'the' Japanese band but I prefer these people 100%. From the classic Japanese instruments and style mixed with an incredible knowledge of their instruments to the fact this is a 'superstar' band which grew around the vision of a single musician. Plus no Loli Goth.
Killer grooves and playing here
For me it's: Wagakki Band and Lovebites.
I also love WGB a lot. They have such a diverse range of instruments, both modern and traditional, and they are all masters of their craft. And it doesn't hurt to have the best frontwoman on the planet, who is, to me, right at the top of the mountain globally vocally, with only Adele being close to her. Yuko is outstanding no matter what she does, jazz, pop, rock, shigin molded throughout all their performances and the addition of traditional dance routines to bring out the true beauty of music. And that's the problem with today's "popular" music, there is no real beauty, it's all very superficial and banal.
I would pick Boris as my favorite Japanese band but there are more. Lots of incredible talent there
@@DallasGunther Wata is cool. She uses a lot of effects. Boris has been around awhile.
I'm not going out on a limb when I say that Machiya might be the greatest living guitarist in the world right now.
Great guitaring
Rock, jazz, surf and funk are all alive and well in Japan. In America it takes a lot of work to locate the vids and often involves using a translator, but IMO it's well worth the effort.
unfrigginbelievable! thanks Andrew ;-}
Can we get a Wagakki Band week please! They have so much Range similar to Led Zeppelin IMO with very obvious Deference's LUL, Also trying to get to Japan from NZ next year and maybe see one of the members play live but currently not doing any tour dates atm as a band :(
That'd be great!!! But a lot of other bands in the mix comin up
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Understandable maybe in the future, love ya content no matter keep it up
Ok finally, For some weird reason I thought this would of been requested already god damn thanks to whoever did
Edit: Stuart Ross you legend
Please react more Wagakki Band live performance 🎵
I will
And this is only 3 of the 8 members of the band.
Nice jam.
Drummer is Wasabi, i think you reacted to one of his videos in the past.
OH RIGHT!!!
Do these guys tour the U.S. or anywhere outside Japan? They seem to me to get virtually no publicity here.
Very sad but true. People in America are sleeping on this band.
They did perform in America once, several years ago. But they have stayed in Japan, for the most part. They do want to expand, though.
Until recently, Japanese artists had a language barrier and the Japanese domestic market was too big, so they were not actively selling overseas, so most of the artists are not known outside of Japan, so there are still great finds.
please, discover more Japanese music. I don't know if it suits your taste…maybe you already know…l recommend
◉“ One OK Rock ” very popular with foreigners. They have a lot of songs, but at first.“W e are” Especially the live version is popular to watch . l hope you enjoy watching Japanese live video!
Check out Seikima ii.
Legends. They dress like KISS. They play like Helloween!
Should this go without mentioning the godfather of japanese drumming Munetaka Higuchi from Loudness ? "Dream Castle" is an insane album with players of all genres...

They owe alot to AKIRA TAKASAKI....
Dream theater????
Well then..LOVEBITES!
Comping Japanese-style?😮
As an American I'd like to apologize for the all weather stuff your going through. It IS huge American corporations that continue to deny climate change and politicians that allow it to happen and half of this country that vote is so easily manipulated they buy into anything they hear
I don’t like this, I’m boring, sorry. Not my stuff also like dream theater…many notes with no purpose…no feeling for me…
You don't like prog-fusion. It's not for everyone.
@@TheCyberMantis i like prog fusion but not this…
@@daviddevilliers2828 You got a personal problem, because this is some killer stuff.
@@TheCyberMantis ouch…. Thank you, but no, I don’t like this, it’s like masturbation, I love koenjiyakkey, Richard pinhas, magma since 40 years, ozric tentacles, krimson, nik bartsch, haken, persefone, and many other stuff like jazz, fusion, prog, metal what’s your problem man?
Understandable. Wagakki Band do have a wide range of musical styles; it's not all like this.
