Whats the actual point of doing this in a race?

These races are part of so called 'clan wars', so 12 races where two teams of 5 players each play against each other, and the team with the most overal points at the end of these 12 races wins. So it is like online team vs races but without the standard blue and red team that the game itself offers. In short, the shock is a really broken item in these clan wars, as you can use the shock to dodge your first place in a cannon while dodging another player in your team in a star, for example. The shock is a huge element in these wars as it can change the races completely, so it is actually a viable strategy to have one player of each team go backwards and try to get the shock. The probability of getting the shock is the largest in last place, so both baggers (that's how the players driving backwards are called) are sort of 1v1'ing to get the shock. It does seem crazy if you've never seen it before, I agree :P

You can coordinate with your team when you use the shock, so you can dodge some of your players in a star, mega mushroom or bullet bill for example. You can also target shock a player from the other team off the track @@randomz_wtr
