Admittantly I have only seen this video in 2024. But unless you have sent it back you have provided a very valid example of why reading and understanding the instructions first. I have the same model and never expreienced what you think is happening. I love the machine.
Just bought mine from Costco and sealed a whole deer. Worked Great! Always start with a seal, pullout and cut the bag to the length you want, don’t UNLOCK!! Hit seal again for the next bag. Also load the roll where you pull from the bottom, it will move out of the way to seal.
You seal the bag before you cut it while it’s still or the roll. Then you decide how much you want pull it out and then cut. There is a attachment that you can use to seal jars. I give it a 10.
Idk why you're complaining so much. Yes it's a vacume. It makes noise. And you just need to get better at estimating bag size if you're worried about waste...
Sorry to say, but you clearly didn't read the instructions (or watched the wrong videos on it) as you say you did. Based on the look of yours, you have the model VS3180. You pull the end of the roll of bags to the edge of the front of the machine, close the lid and press seal.... this preps the bottom, then you pull out the rough size of bag that you'll need then use the trimmer ... you don't seal the bag and then use the trimmer without pulling on the end of the bag roll. I have the model FM5380 and every time I put a new roll of bags in, I have to seal the bottom first, pull out the estimated size I need and then cut. At 3:55 you can see the instructions on how to make a bag... it says: Put the end of the roll at the edge, turn lever to operate, press seal, turn lever to open, pull out the size of bag you need, turn lever to operate, press seal, after the seal is completed use the cutter to cut the bag ... this makes your bag and preps the bottom seal for your next bag... this is explained on pages 6 & 7 of the manual. As far as the noise, all of them have that noise, it's called a vacuum. And the green thing is called a drip tray, and it's used for the collection of any moisture that escapes in the process of vacuum sealing (this is shown on page 4 of your manual). As far as your wasting the bags, you need put the steak near the bottom seal of the bag, pull out until the steak is near the edge of the unit or about 1/4 inch from the edge of the foodsaver ... this will give you about an inch above the steak... while it's still a little waste, it's a lot better than the amount you pulled out. Here's the online manual for your model: s7d9.scene7.com/is/content/NewellRubbermaid/DASH/S7_int/2020/USEnglishVS300019EM1.pdf
I have the really, really basic model, no plastic roll cutter on mine, yes it makes noise but it’s just noise, doesn’t last forever, do you ever use a vacuum cleaner! They’re loud! Anyway, I still love mine!
I got a Foods Saver but found that sealing the bags is the top bar when you put the bag in the sealer with the food the bag is on the counter. There is a lot of wasted bag space by putting the seal on top there is a lot of space in the bag that is wasted.
I have a different model and it sounds the same.. Honestly I’m not sure if the noise bothers me or not, it works as it should. It does take a bit to figure out how to use it, at least my model/
baahhablolol oh snap dude. maybe he can requesrt a model that every time he seals something, the foodsaver says, "sweety theres nothing to fear, i wil always love you" mommie will always be here.l olo
I put the food into the bag, estimate the length that needs to be cut, then cut it then vac-seal it. Sure, the pre-cut bags are bigger than what you need, but how often do you think they'd be exactly the right size? You can buy the bulk rolls and make your own bags. With the roll, seal one side, estimate what you think you'll need, cut it, put the food in, trim it, then seal it. I think you'll get the hang of it after a few goes and have less waste. Also, get second market bags. FoodSaver brand is expensive. The noise is the noise they make. Didn't surprise me one bit when I cranked mine on the first time. I like your accessory set up better than the one I have. I got a less expensive model with an accessory port that you plug the hose into. Didn't come with a hose.
Ziplocks can work but you need to remove all the air. An easy way to do this is to mostly close the ziplock and slowly lower the bag into a pot of tap water. Leaving the opened edge out only until the water in the outside slowly pushes the air out. Then seal the last of it. Tadaa
I have been a huge advocate of the water submersion method for Sous Vide. What led me to the vacuum sealer was pre freezing my steaks, chicken, bacon and ground beef. I am a huge fan of Costco but Costco sizes are always very generous, so vacuum sealer to the rescue - I hope!
“Who cares”, “they left out details”, “is it worth it” “this green thing”, I feel bad for this man’s partner, he complains about everything, he’s worst than she. This is a great invention, great investment.
dave bacon..I like this guy too, Dave. He hates reading instructions, (which is why I'm here 🤣) "lots of knives, love to cook, not really good at it, reminds me of me, jealous of his fridge!" Superb Media Content Creator, was a little bit savage on him, I thought. Just a guy having a go, and he said up front that he wasn't chasing any subscribers. However, SMCC did seem to know her stuff. Cheers from Australia.
Sorry, you wine about small stuff. The noise is NOTHING! Maybe the noise would not sound so bad to you if your kitchen was not an Echo chamber.. I just got the same FoodSaver that you have. I love it!!! I have done lots of sealing with it. I never used Zip lock bags for food saving. They are crap. I use stretch cling wrap. 2 layers and it's good to go in my deep freezer. I plan on useing both. Do you have a stand alone freezer? Or do you use the self defrosting one in your fridge? That one is crap! The defrosting is what kills your meat. Theere is nothing like a chest deep freezer. I think you need to learn more....sorry, I just had to say it.....
I think it’s a very good video. He’s giving his opinion on his Food Saver. Some people’s noise tolerance is not as great as others. Have anyone ever stop to think maybe he was a Combat Veteran, some Combat Veterans are Extremely Sensitive to certain noises. The echo in his home may be due to he ask for silence from his family, or he could be home alone, making this video, which would possibly produce an echo. Awesome Video!!!
Nice video. I am about to buy the same model at Costco. You said the noise surprised you. It did not seem louder than expected. I've watched several videos here on UA-cam by other influencers and on FoodSaver's UA-cam page and they all make that sound at those decibels. Out of curiosity, which videos made you think that it was quieter? They have some nicer models then this one, but it is the only one in my price range right now. Thanks again for the great video.
Wow. I think I just watched the worlds first male Karen. That noise bothers you? Im guessing you've never used a firearm in your life. I use my food saver all the time and Ive never whined that much. This video almost warrants a revocation of a man card
Great video - LOL it is noisey! I guess people haven't filled their car tires with air before? A vacuum is the opposite of pressure, similar equipment just used in the opposite direction. Don't hate the tech just do a little more research -- Google is your friend! I did enjoy the video so you deserve the thubs up!
Hi there Well I am afraid you need to research your product first learn how it works then make a video I can’t help but lol when people don’t understand what they are doing or saying then blame the product if it doesn’t work all the best in your future product
Mine was a piece of junk. It broke after a few months! Cheap plastic, expensive... Unless you're stocking up for a nuclear blast, I have decided something like this just isn't worth it! Maybe there's a brand that works, but I'll never buy a Food Saver again!
It only last seconds ! also place your machine on a pad (like a large mouse pad, solid thin one) may reduce noice. Better to waste a bit of plastic bag than waste that steak. Reseach online before you buy or use. Normal noice. Good video for men who dont read or research directions. ha ha ha. Really you did a good presentation just teasing you 🤗 keep going!
Does anyone else have a problem with the unit just sucking and sucking and never sealing? It removes all of the air then just keeps sucking, never stops, never seals.
My machine is not dealing properly and im hating it already. I used to have the older version 10 years ago and that one was even more efficient than the new model i have currently (which is the same as yours in the video).
You do know that this bags are reusable and if you reuse the bag that is why you leave extra space on the bag. I get a lot of use out of one bag the meat will last a year or two and it will taste the same a when you sealed it. Plus there a other bag from other company cheaper then the foodsaver which work just as well,
I had to laugh at your knife collection 🤣 I'm an old butcher and I've got knives everywhere, and they're all razor sharp, of course. I've just bought one and I mistakenly bought the rolls from the same outlet. ( big mistake, you almost need a bank loan). There are some good tips in here, I might add, especially the part about sealing first and then cutting. I'll go and have a play and see if I can get the hang of it. My main reason for getting one is that I am just starting to do some wok cooking and the time for prep is a real pain, so I'll be able to have everything in packs and ready to go. Enjoyed your video, mate. Cheers from Australia.
You are so right! I worked as a butcher for forty years. I have four knives in my drawer, and my original cleaver. I don’t what give’s with this guy. Him, He, whatever! Proper pronouns?
You wasted alot of bag and you you could have turned the steak more sideways. I'm sure there's a lot of things you've learned since you made this video. Thank you for the video though

You’d need a big vacuum bag to seal a pig!

It’s not that bad. Suck it up buttercup. And also read the manual to really learn how to use it. It will make you like it better
The older foodsavers are great. However the newer ones are noisy and they go out extremely fasst.
I have a foodsaver from 1985 they are just as noisy as the new ones.
