The eyes on that cat mask are mesmerizing. I don't think I caught even half of the video, just Alex proclaiming his love for Appie homebrand bitterballen. (I fully agree by the way, that or Beckers)
You both are spot on considering my taste, exept the bitterbal for me, it have to have a Kwekkeboom. PS : Old Amsterdam is not real old cheese . Alex, you are a real gentelman holding a plate while Michelle took a bite. 🌷🌷🌷
it was the closest AH to go had :( they had the real deal a few weeks ago when we scoped it out 🤷 to be fair though i don’t think the problem with that sandwich was the cheese 😂
the mask is KILLING me I have been watching you guys since March last year, my third Amsterdam trip. My partner and I watch you often and I hope one day I can utilize these videos even more when we make our move!
Het was al aan de pudding te zien welke de beste tompoes is. Ik vind het afschuwelijk wanneer de pudding met slagroom wordt gemixt om het luxer te laten lijken.
What I call "fake" ("nep") mini candy bars taste about the same as their A-brand counterparts, but are quite a bit cheaper. Most Dutch supermarket chains have their own versions. Their names used to be ridiculous, or an obvious nod to the originals: Tiger (Lion), Bright Stars (Milky Way), or Get it! (Twix), Race (Mars), etc. Nowadays, they're mostly pretty generic: Peanut Choco (Snickers), Caramel Choco (Mars), etc. The situation for candy coated chocolate pieces - with our without peanuts - (like M&M's, Smarties) is similar, but the differences in quality between the "fake" brands are more pronounced.
Zoute sticks, I always go for the house brand because they're as identical as they can be. Also pindakaas, crackers and sometimes some other stuff, but I don't go out of my way to go all the way to a different store. I just buy whatever I need at the local supermarket.
The Albert Heijn bitterballen have been tested by the consumenten gids (consumers guide club which tests monthly all kinds of products). And the AH bitterballen have won the tests several times. What you loose in salt, you definitely gain in meat. I’m sure. Plus the meat is the real deal - stoofvlees.
It seems that AH has the best even though it is not considered as a discount supermarket, it does have some things that are not bad at all in quality at the same time they are far from the highest cost. Dankjewel voor de video.
The mess free way to eat a tompouce is to flip it on it's long side and use a fork to cut through the layers. This way you don't squish out all the filling.
I actually prefer cheap, store-bought brie (the cheese) over the more expensive ones like the ones you get in restaurants on a "kaasplankje", for example. The restaurant ones are usually so much more pungent, while I actually prefer the more light and creamy taste the supermarket ones have (no innuendo intended btw).
Hmm to each their own, no arguments over taste ofc. However a ripe raw milk Brie Meaux is incompable tastewise to industrial pasteurised brie. Like comparing apples to pears...
Hey guys I have been wanting to ask, your second channel Buncharted 2 I know it says Buncharted but did I hear Alex say Bunchatted? If so, I think that's the perfect name for your other channel. 😊 Anywhoooooo....thanks for another good one guys. 🌷
Few months ago I compared the taste of rosbief between Lidl, keurslager and jumbo. Winner was jumbo, second but way lower was keurslager (and most expensive ofc) and last was Lidl (chewy and not tasty) Bit disappointing really for the local keurslager, his rookworst and sausages (al homemade) taste superb. Forget that overhyped HEMA rookworst compared to the home made keurslager one. BTW; rookworst & sausages bought at keurslager Spinozaweg Rotterdam.
Hello, I'm a brand new subscriber. I enjoyed your taste test. I would love to try this on my next visit to the Netherlands. Maybe I will make a vlog of my experience trying these yummy-looking foods for my UA-cam channel. :)!! Ps: A friend shared this video with me and I am glad the he did :) !!
No shame in liking cheap bitterballen, this is why I only trust taste tests if they are done blind! I used to buy into the myth that one brand of pilsner beer (in my case Grolsch) is vastly superior to the other brands, but I found out that in a blind taste test (with let's say 8 different brands of "normal" pilsener beer) it is almost impossible to distinguish one from the other. They taste slightly different, but very hard to pick out your favorite brand in such a test. So when I lost my job I switched to the cheapest AH beer, which costs like 30% of a main brand Grolsch and still tastes fine. Though now I got a new job and rarely drink beer anymore, I prefer the more expensive special beers from smaller breweries, like Brouwerij Noordt from Rotterdam Noord.
wine gums, the cheap ones use gelatin, and the expensive vegan ones use agar. Gelatin makes them softer, and agar is tougher. The cheap ones also have a stronger flavour,.
If there is one expensive Dutch brand I'd avoid it's 100% Unox. Rookworsten, soups, they just taste so chemically to me. I always go with the mid-priced alternative.
Really? I love Unox.. just taste their ragout and then the AH ragout, the latter tastes and smells like catfood, honestly... and not to mention the knakworst, nice and juicy from Unox, AH crumbles when you stick your fork in it, and same catfood experience.
I don't care how good the sandwich is. No sandwich should cost you a tenner. I am kindof shocked by the bitterballen win for AH, I totally expected Kwekkeboom, never had good experienceswith Bram Ladage. And 3,25 for ONE poes is highway robbery
Whatever you do ... NEVER eat a saucijzenbroodje from the KIOSK stores at public transport stations. It's like tepid dog food rolled in non-crunchy dough... now sold to you for the price of ONLY a small car!
Hema has a bad day many times then. My mom bought a big cake from Hema, but that was bad as well. Wasn't tasty. The only thing Hema does good is there sausage ( rookworst), so juicy and taste nice.
Why don't you make them yourself? They're not that difficult to make but, then again, now living here in America for over 4 decades, I had to figure out how to make my favorite snacks. The nice thing though, I can order Dutch Herring off the internet, de kroketjes maak ik met Escoffier brown stock and de saucijzenbroodjes is just finding the right mix of meat until you find one you like. Really it's not that hard. Also, broodjes? Jong belegen met roomboter op tijgerbrood. (I just had to mix the languages....teeheee!!)
Too bad you didn't test the Mora bitterballen. The last couple of years they won several taste tests. E.g. the test of newspaper "Het Algemeen Dagblad".
yeah, we weren’t 100% sure if bram ladage makes their own bitterballen or if they use mora, so we wanted to be safe and pick another brand we originally wanted van dobben but our albert heijn didn’t have them 😭
Finally: you found at that the Hema tompouce may be popular, but tastes like... nothing. The second one was a real tompouce, that is how it is supposed to be. Oke, I do not like cream on top, but thst is easily fixed. It is a very funny video: you found out that your tastebuds tell the quality, not a brand or name. That AH sandwich...was very sad😢. I go for Mora oven-bitterballen and Old Amsterdam cheese-bitterballen from Kwekkeboom. There are many brands because yhere are many people with different preferences.. The worst I ate so far (did not try all brands) were the vegan Bitterballen from AH. It is just ragout as in flour and broth in the crust...I was very dissapointed. The Veg Slager makes nice vegetarian ones, but contains an idiotic amount of lactose and other sugars. So when I eat a bitterbal (not often) I go for the meat-type.
You know whats very Dutch, having friends or family over and you buying the expensive version and then them saying that you should have bought the cheap one instead. No other culture will do this.
Why have a "blind taste test" if you gonna feel all the food and decide by feel which is which before tasting? 😅 Maybe consider cutting it and feeding each other, you know, not in a weird way 😂
LOL! on how to eat tompouce. You use the small fork to scrape and eat the cream (if there), then lift the top of it (with it) and bite small pieces of the upper pink glaced puff pastry. ;) Then you take that silly small little fork again and scrape-eat the pudding from the under pastry layer. After that you'll need that tissue to whipe your mouth and fingers with! :D
Bitterballen and taste: It depends on the mustard brand. And as you know, when colleagues have a drink, the mustard brand decides which bar it will be.
if you test bitterballen or other kinds like that, use the real deal and not the AIRFRYER version thats fake stuff, when its fryed its brings out the real taste the difference is SO big dont ever do that again ! 😅
Pro! Most people can't even eat a tompouce normally without making a mess. You did it blindfolded! 😂👏
Why do i get the feeling that cat mask is not only used in these kind of videos 😅
😇😇😇
Isn't this : "begging the question" fallacy? ah never mind, a dirty mind is a joy......
Meow 😼
It's also used for test-tasting other, um, things ;-)
The eyes on that cat mask are mesmerizing.
I don't think I caught even half of the video, just Alex proclaiming his love for Appie homebrand bitterballen. (I fully agree by the way, that or Beckers)
Te leckers van beckers
Haha, very entertaining content as always.
I never understood why people love the Hema tompouce so much, it's cardboard with icing.
Holtkamp in Amsterdam makes the best! ❤
Holtkamp Maassluis that is .... the brother of Amsterdam 😉
and for bitterballen and kroketten also Holtkamp Amsterdam: They made complete science (of decades) of making the best kroket and bitterbal....
Yes, new video... good to have you guys back on the tube.
You both are spot on considering my taste, exept the bitterbal for me, it have to have a Kwekkeboom. PS : Old Amsterdam is not real old cheese . Alex, you are a real gentelman holding

@@buncharted Ques so😀
the mask is KILLING me
I have been watching you guys since March last year, my third Amsterdam trip.
My partner and I watch you often and I hope one day I can utilize these videos even more when we make our move!
Did you ever try the DIY tompouce?
Always great to have in house in case of 'emergency'... 😅
what is it?
The pronunciation of saucijzenbroodje is pretty solid. Respect! Its a hard one 😅
Expensive is not always better, bitterballen 😂. Nice video.
Big fan always nice to see a new episode

The best saucijzenbroodjes in Dordrecht you get at Bakker De Man on the Krispijnseweg ...opposite to the Weijzigtpark :-)
looking forward to trying it soon!
I'll have to "test" it next time I'm in Dordt. 😊
Fun video again.....thanks for that !!! 🎉😂

Next: Lidl (yeah, a lidl hard to get, but put more effort in it!) vs Jan vs AH pannekoeken. Fanta vs Orangina vs River or AH or Jumbo sinas.
The mess free way to eat a tompouce is to flip it on it's long side and use a fork to cut through the layers. This way you don't squish out all the filling.
Voor een tompouce experience: Bakkerij van Helden in Middelharnis in februari
Great video! had some great laughs: "SHUT UP! STFU!" hahaha
I used to live in sliedrecht close to your town try the snackbar by the harbour

AH brie is surprisingly decent!

Like comparing apples to pears...
Oh dear. First off: That mask is weirding me out, the lack of expressions (it's brilliant XD)
"Uncut is just harder to get into your mouth"
😂
13:13 Good excuse to test the Hame tompoes for a couple of days in a row. 😉
Hey guys I have been wanting to ask, your second channel Buncharted 2 I know it says Buncharted but did I hear Alex say Bunchatted?

Anywhoooooo....thanks for another good one guys. 🌷
bunchatted is the name of the podcast :)
"What you loose in salt, you gain in meat, you feel me?" Your review jargon is literally a whole mood, love it!😍😍🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
😂😂😂
My favorite cheap food item from the supermarkt is the G'Woon knakworsten from the Nettorama.
Good mythical evening! 😉

Het kattenmasker staat jullie allebei wel goed... leuke vondst.
Michelle and Alex you should do the same with homemade sandwiches with the Stores ones.
Not always cheaper but CROKY OVER LAYS!
Tompouce tip: tip it over and use a fork (and knife) to cut pieces, et voila.
I mostly like the cheaper bitterballen cause they are made with draadjesvlees instead of ragout with meat chunks.
A bitterball from the airfryer is a bad idea in my opinion. Always eat them deep fried to get the ultimate crunch and beter taste 😅
voor tompoes moeten jullie naar Amsterdam - Holtkamp op Vijzelstraat
I love Oude Rotterdam from a real cheese shop. 😋😋😋😋
Some things A brand or C brand are both fine, eg: Soep/Knakworst/Hagelslag/Sinas but others I gotta have the OGs like Pindakaas/Chocomel/Cola
Still a challenge for Michelle eating tompouces without messing it up 😂
she's wearing a blindfold haha
I never minded a "messy girl" hahahaha
I personally prefer the ''First Choice Cola'' over the Coca Cola or Pepsi.. anyway, enjoyed this video.. Have a nice weekend!..
The best tompouce I had was at a bakery in Ouderkerk a/d Anstel
I like "twee kippen" advocaat way better than the "zwarte kip" brand
ooh that’s a good one!
Jumbo Cherry Coke over the Coca-Cola & Pepsi. Waaaay better!
If there is one expensive Dutch brand I'd avoid it's 100% Unox. Rookworsten, soups, they just taste so chemically to me. I always go with the mid-priced alternative.
thats good to know!
Really? I love Unox.. just taste their ragout and then the AH ragout, the latter tastes and smells like catfood, honestly... and not to mention the knakworst, nice and juicy from Unox, AH crumbles when you stick your fork in it, and same catfood experience.
If there is an AH, Jumbo and Hema, I would skip AH for saucijzenbroodjes
really???
stay tuned for next week’s video 😅
I don't care how good the sandwich is. No sandwich should cost you a tenner. I am kindof shocked by the bitterballen win for AH, I totally expected Kwekkeboom, never had good experienceswith Bram Ladage. And 3,25 for ONE poes is highway robbery
I like the Jumbo Tompouce, don't eat the saucijzebroodje or bitterbal very often...do like a nice kroket sometimes, funny video thanks
This gives me Bon Appetit - Reverse Engineering vibes!
Whatever you do ... NEVER eat a saucijzenbroodje from the KIOSK stores at public transport stations.
It's like tepid dog food rolled in non-crunchy dough... now sold to you for the price of ONLY a small car!
hahahah you’ll love our video next week
or not 😂😂😂
I was waiting for the Febo kroket vs. Van Dobben.
we don’t have a febo close by :(
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another episode of Innuendo Bingo!
😂😂😂
Hema has a bad day many times then. My mom bought a big cake from Hema, but that was bad as well. Wasn't tasty. The only thing Hema does good is there sausage ( rookworst), so juicy and taste nice.
Why didn't you try different brands of drop. I know you like them!
are hamburgers better in the US?
From where cometh this obsession with different kinds of junk food?
I would not call cheese old, at least in English it sounds wrong.. it is more aged or ripened.
oeeehhh Alex, are your ears always up like that or are you just happy to see us? ;)
I'm craving a plate of bitterballen right now!
Why don't you make them yourself? They're not that difficult to make but, then again, now living here in America for over 4 decades, I had to figure out how to make my favorite snacks. I'm not entirely surprising a cheese sandwich can smell like sushi. Can't out my finger on it, but they at least share umami, salt and mayo.
i like your videos but my english is not that good i speak dutch i am dutch haha verry cool videos
OMG 3 euro for a saucijzenbroodje pfff. I like the Dirk van den broek saucijzenbroodje
I know your sausage by the feel of it
😅😅😅
That's what she said!
GMM vibes 🤩
air fryer bitterbal. even here in holland is a NO NO NO NO NO.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Is this the beginning of end for the love of HEMA?
oh man 😅😅😅
I'm a cheap stroopwafel lover...
Too bad you didn't test the Mora bitterballen. The last couple of years they won several taste tests. E.g. the test of newspaper "Het Algemeen Dagblad".

It is just ragout as in flour and broth in the crust...I was very dissapointed.
The Veg Slager makes nice vegetarian ones, but contains an idiotic amount of lactose and other sugars.
So when I eat a bitterbal (not often) I go for the meat-type.
I only eat whitebread, I don't like any other
Dear Alex and Michelle,
Hebben jullie al een keer Nederlandse biertjes getest (geblinddoekt)?
. gewoon bier
. wit bier
. donker bier
nee nog niet maar het is een leuk idee, denk ik!
You know whats very Dutch, having friends or family over and you buying the expensive version and then them saying that you should have bought the cheap one instead. No other culture will do this.

there's at least one in this video, haha

You’re not sharing with me? 😳
Euh. Yeah so that mask looks kinda disturbing. 😅
😂😂😂
if you test bitterballen or other kinds like that, use the real deal and not the AIRFRYER version
thats fake stuff, when its fryed its brings out the real taste
the difference is SO big
dont ever do that again ! 😅
Nice vid again but the commercials are a terror 😡😡and it's getting worse by the month!
True! It seems UA-cam really has started the ad-break offensieve now. I think I counted 9 or 10 ad-breaks in this 14min video.
