The first time I read meditations it started dragging out when he was talking about being grateful that the people around him growing up were good men and how that influenced him
I was thinking about that a couple of weeks later he was so thankful and humble as one of the most powerful men in the world
That's was a major part of the book to me

So grateful to have you created a YT channel, Ryan! Growing up, I never knew the history of Marcus Aurelius, despite having part of his name. It wasn’t until I heard about Stocism from Tim Ferriss and Ryan Holiday that I got really into studying Marcus Aurelius’ material.

After seeing this video, I wish nothing but one thing, and that is to travel back in time and bring Marcus Aurelius to today's Earth. For writings as such makes me yearn to absorb it inside my veins. And it is beyond my imagination that 'Meditations' is nothing but his journal or personal diary which we call it in present times. It was never meant to be published as a book, rather it was his thoughts to himself. After watching Daily Stoic videos and reading Ryan's books, I came to a realization that "only a man who is such proficient at educating himself in the first place, holds the power to impact the world on such a scale. The power of being a wise and good human-being is that it cannot be duplicated in any way, it can only be inculcated and cultivated as Marcus Aurelius did through his persistent habit of journaling every day."
    Sincerely,
    Krit.

This quote reminds me every time that I'm challenged by something that I can overcome it. So often I find what I worried over to be an easy obstacle, I get it done, cast it aside and get over it and then find the next, forgetting about the one prior. This is how we grow! Knowing how to let go is knowing how to conquer all but perhaps accepting the obstacle and facing it repeatedly is the only way of overcoming everything.

    When I have a goal,
obstacles are teaching me how to get to where I want to go--
    carving a path for me.
    What stands in the way becomes the way;
within every obstacle is a chance to improve my condition.

Damn Ryan, I freaking love every single video, book, post. I gift your books all the time to people in my life, and I’ve never stopped to thank you for your time with my own words. I internalize your messages, and share through my coaching and conversations. The impact is unmeasurable and vast. That last line, paraphrasing: is the obstacle going to be the way? or do we choose to be the obstacle in our way? 🔥💪❤️

    Ryan usually cites meditations 5.20.
Interestingly, Marcus writes something similar already in 4.1 in a very lyrical fashion:
When the inwardly dominant principle is true to nature, then its relation to everything that happens is such that it can always easily adapt to the possible and the given. After all, it does not feel love for any particular matter, but seeks for the preferred only conditionally, turning into material for itself everything that is ahead. It is like a fire, taking possession of what is thrown into it: a weak Lamp would be extinguished, and a bright flame instantly envelops what has got into it, devours it and soars up even higher

I have listened to your book 3 times in 2 weeks on UA-cam. I was gonna start it again but figured I’d listen to meditations...I’ve read it before.
I’ve always been a Stoic...I just didn’t know that’s what it was called until my Liberal Arts degree where we did a deep dive for 1 year in Western Civilization from Mesopotamia to the Lilian’s Gilgamesh and of course all the great philosophers.
I love your book, it put into words what I am always saying and how I am thinking in business and life.
I was told recently that what I was saying wasn’t practical or applicable in business. And this was from an entrepreneurs that was ‘stuck’ in his way...
Most people think that philosophy provides no action...then I explained how the universe speaks in obstacles because it’s trying to show you how to create...how to move...how to proceed...
When I said that the man sat there for no more than 3 minutes before smiling and figuring out a solution to something that was an obstacle. It was telling him what to do but he was too busy being stuck on how he thought it should be done instead of how else to do it.

3:33 The most beautiful aspect of it for me personally is that it begins in your mind. Like when Sun Tzu said that knowing yourself is the key to winning anything. All you have to do is understand yourself enough to know the mechanisms within, the part of you that accepts it and says 'okay'. It starts that simply. What's the first manageable step?

One of my favorites is “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” another one is "Put an end once for all to this discussion of what a good man should be, and be one" too many times we hear from media, scholars and others about what a good man should be but see them fall from grace after lecturing us about ( in many cases) their own faults.
