I love the way she never completely discounts even the frankly absurd scenarios. Interesting that she is trained to never say "never" and always take into consideration the crazy improbable scenarios.
Honestly would have loved to see her react to the 'DC attack scene' in Olympus Has Fallen, since Antione Fuqua planned it all out with a friend/technical advisor who themselves were former Secret Service... It's quite interesting on the dvd extras, how when they sat around planning out every stage of the attack, their tech advisor repeatedly mentioned that during their time in SS protection details, part of their duties involved basically sitting around & thinking up the craziest gak imaginable as to how a group/foreign power might conceivably attempt to attack & take down the White House. So certain things in that film, such as the '15min window' are for the most part "accurate."
Easy, put Trump. He would have been better than any sniper. He would have dodge bullet faster than anyone. He would have know someone that said he was the best bullet dodger ever see.
@@Persian-Immortal yet she’s only like 42/43. Secret service are insane though, the absolute courage and fighting, weapons and vehicle tactics these people have is ridiculous.
Confirming the sniper thing - there was a presidential visit to my school and I didn't get a ticket, so I ended up chilling at my dorm window taking pics of the action. I noticed on the building across the way that there were people on it... I zoomed in closer on my camera and it was snipers. I started looking all around. On several balconies and tops of buildings there were other snipers stationed with binoculars. One of them was looking at ME. Then I looked down to the balcony below me. Snipers. Just a few yards away. I slowly backed away from the window and called my Mom. Then a few minutes later, I looked out the window again. The snipers were already facing me, looking up, guns ready. I waved and said hi. They said hi. It was really surreal and my first time realizing how much protection the President really had.
And guess what depending on how far you window Ward from the president actually was probably won’t even Secret Service snipers. They probably cops on loan to the Secret Service from the local swat team
One of the most common misunderstandings about the secret service, and this is largely because of Hollywood, is that their number one job is NOT to be good with a gun or great at fighting. Yes, they train so they're good at those things. But their #1 job is THREAT DETECTION (or arguably to create those layers of security she talked about and control the environment). And I really liked that she talked about that. When the president is around people her job was to watch them and notice the person who is acting weird or who is looking down at their hands while they try to get a weapon into their hands or so on. So I really appreciated her talking about that aspect of things.
Just over the course of this limited 20 minutes video, you get such a feel for the professionalism and work ethic of the secret service. Just the feeling that she conveys over the dos and don'ts is more than you'd ever get from a manual or textbook. You can see that she not only knows her stuff. She is responding physically when cardinal rules are broken. If directors feature secret service in a movie, they should call her in to consult and be present on-set.
@@PrograError Of course. You would not want a secret service agent advising on a plausible kidnapping plot. I am sure they play out white hat scenarios all the time, but they don't have to do it educationally. Even the approach probing for actual weak spots would be problematic even if the plot device itself is dealt with when secret service is made aware of it.
That depends on what the goal is. If it's to reflect real life then having someone like her serve as a consultant would be a good thing but often the things that the Secret Service would do in real life gets in the way of the story the movie is trying to tell. Certainly none of the White House Down type of movies could ever happen in real life, but that doesn't make them less entertaining. Which (entertaining) is the real goal of most movies.
A friend of mine was a US Secret Service agent out of college. I asked him to share what he was allowed. He said he spent 8 hours in a black suit, on a super hot asphalt runway in Waco, TX guarding an empty Air Force One for 8 hours a day while President Bush 43 was at his ranch. He also would guard an empty stairwell at hotels while the president slept. He is now a local police chief.
Yeah I can understand where he’s coming from. I’ve been outside a hotel suite for 8 hour rotation and isn’t the most exciting of jobs, counting the patterns on the wallpaper it does have its down side but it does have its perks
That's nuts that they hire people fresh out of college for that. You would think they would want a little more real world experience along with the education to choose those guys
@@marklower007 Fresh college joins are probably the best candidates. They don't have a history and as long as their criminal record, there's very little to investigate them. That said, many large police agencies don't really like hiring other LEO, they prefer a blank slate which makes them easier to train to "their way".
“You can see one of the agents fumbling with her sidearm and having problems holstering it, another putting on sunglasses. The Secret Service had eyes on threat and didn’t notify a ground team to the location. And a rooftop 150 yards away not secured. Also if it were me, I would never let the protectee stop moving for a photo op. I would give that scene a 1/10.” 🤣
@@nihalr_ having poor judgment and being untrustworthy is a factor in competency. Columbian drug cartels use prostitutes as spies. The woman they were with certainly aren't trustworthy. If those agents let anything about their jobs slip while they were drunk, those women could sell that information to any number of bad actors. Just having it leak to the Cartagena press would be bad enough. But having it get to someone dangerous would be a nightmare. Poor judgment is 💯 part of competency.
@@nihalr_ Benedict Arnold was competent, confident, well trained; and, had the trust of the Second Continental Congress. He was a major general in Washington's army. He had the trust of Washington himself. Arnold was competent, confident, etc. Until he decided to surrender Fort West Point. Then he became the biggest traitor in the history of the USA. His name is synonymous with treason. My point is, all of the agent's training, competence, confidence, and whatever else go out the window if they get drunk and accidentally give away trade secrets. Accidental treason is still treason. Congress felt it was bad enough to have the director of the secret service brought in for a hearing. Oh, and by the way, this comes from the secret service handbook. The Secret Service’s own training manuals specifically warned against adultery, because from a security standpoint, “the potential for undue influence or duress exists.” In other words, blackmail-the same threat that could have been used against the Cartagena crew.
Not necessarily. There are prison or heist or so on types movies that (at least in the past) did get things accurate or found loopholes for the things being portrayed. In those cases, the groups being protrayed (whether that be a prison or bank or what have you) would modify their defences or tactics, often before the movie even hits theaters. I imagine the SS would do the same. Refusing to let the movie get released would just signal to the world that it has something they don't want getting shown. At which point everyone, especially those with bad intentions, will do everything they can to get ahold of whatever information was in that film.
They are not the CIA tho they are the real ones that don’t want a 10/10 movie released or if there’s one close they ain’t going to be talking about it cuz someone talked . Service is legit just fancy security. The cia actually dose a lot of protecting the president to

She did give the other movie 0/10. Even though London Has Fallen is incredibly absurd, but the production budge is no joke. So i'd give it a 2/10 too just because of the cars, guns, and explosives. Highly disappointed when i first watched the movie and it's nothing like Olympus Has Fallen.
@@AlexG-jm7cd Olympus Has Fallen was a great movie in my (totally untrained in the Secret Service experience/knowledge) opinion... So is it accurate? That's probably a hell no, lol. She was unduly harsh with the Iron Patriot. James "Rhodey" Rhodes is a colonel in the US Air Force. He would be allowed on Air Force One. He is a decorated pilot and the weapon's liason for the Air Force. He liases with Stark Industries. As I said, unduly harsh.

@@chaosagent_0106 yeah but some of her comments made her look a little silly because she wasn’t taking the background of the movie into consideration. Like at 13:10 she was saying that a double agent is hard because of their background checks and stuff when hiring them, but the movie has him as like a 20-30 years in the secret service, and he flipped after becoming one of the most trusted member who protected the president directly, but she was talking about it like he was a new recruit. The context of the movie does matter in some of the scenes she was talking about. Same thing with like the iron man, she was talking about the Colonel, without taking into account he’s a high ranking Air Force member, who got his suit from iron man, and acting like he’s some random guy that they don’t know his identity of, and was talking like well in real life we wouldn’t let some random dude in a killing machine to board air one. (Granted a suit like that also doesn’t exist, but just the fact that she was saying like they don’t know his identity, but in the movie they do) Stuff like that.
Without going into any details, I have had to work with the Secret Service once when the President was visiting a place I worked. To my surprise, they were extremely polite and respectful. We had no illusions who was calling the shots that day, but they didn't just shove our security to the side, rather worked with my manager on where we would be stationed and what we would be responsible for. I even remember seeing this lady, though we never spoke. Consumat professionals, the lot of them.

@@FlyWalker2233 I don't know what you're getting out of insulting a random person online based on a spelling error. No matter if it is a typo or not, being able to spell this specific word is in no way representative to someones intelligence or ability to do their job.
I too interacted with Secret Service professionally at a work location when a Presidential candidate visited. The agent I spoke with was professional and well informed. There was a male member of the public who kept asking dumb questions over and over, getting in the way. I would have loved to see the agent summon colleagues to grill the guy. When I posted a description of the incident on my social media, someone suggested that the apparent dumbass may have been a threat-force scout/spook, testing the Secret Service. Who knows.
No secret weapons, just regular weapons but she is not mentioning any specifics. Why is everyone going full on super secretive special weapons and tactics? They just don't mention specifics but it's just regular. Same thing with special forces and so on.
@@Jebu911 Maybe, but she doesn't have any idea of the film I guess. The guy who turned against them, was in the service for 20 years. So, basically he's background and everything alright and trustworthy. But he's own son got killed in the military for some reason, and he blamed the president's actions for it. So, he became a double agent. A guy who has been in the secret service for years and has gained trust all time, how could anyone possibly keep an eye on him? In the secret service your team can be your brothers and sisters, but anyone can go again if something happened to their family.
I think (and Im 99% sure) that its more no no 0/10 for ''keeping the face'' because what it would looked like if ex service member would say:"Hmm its highly unrealistic, but could happen". Yeah, cus what looks epic & exciting is probably lack of preparation & security, hence such situation occur. While a situation which is boring & status quo is actually the most controlled & maintained environment by security agencies.
She said she was on one presidents protection team and has protected others over the course of 12 years. SS protection details are assigned to both sitting and former presidents and she likely was called in to protect one of those former presidents at one time or another
This was one of the best ratings done by a professional. Felt like she actually spent time with the video/movie and not just saw a 5-second clip and start harping on what is wrong with everything. She breaks down each and everything. You can see the level of professionalism effusing out of her. She takes any task seriously and will do her research.
Except I dont think she watched London is Falling. They went to London with NO notice for the PMs funeral. The SS recommended that POTUS not attend since they couldn't properly prepare but he said he couldn't insult the brits.
If they are going to comment on the movies and the way things are represented, I prefer they take the time to watch the entire film. So it takes a few more days to prepare before they shoot the video... Then their critiques can be accurate. But that's just my opinion.

You don't rush the president to the threshold of safety and then stop for him to stare at a laser for a few seconds. That door is open when he gets to it.
I was a little disappointed that "The West Wing" got a low review; however, I understand the reasoning. I have to confess that Ron Butterfield was my favourite fictional Secret Service Agent of all time given the seriousness with which he played the role every time he appeared. @@Thedoza For an armoured car, composite armour would likely be used to defeat weapons like hollow charge weapons. I guess there could be a layer of heat insulator like the RCC used in spaceship during their re-entry and it might be able to stop or slow down damage from thermite. The thermite bomb looks like it concentrates the heat at the point of contact, and idk if it makes a different. As I know for a pile of thermite we can casually combine and ignite, it doesn't do much to a piece of thick steel as the heat can be quickly dissipated. I think this former agent is outstanding, her knowledge and experience are very interesting to hear about. That said, I have to step in a defend "First Kid" here, lol. Yes, it's an unrealistic movie but this particular scene involves an agent who has been fired and an agent who's been demoted. Neither one is actively in charge of the kid, which is why there are no other agents.
A minor issue I have with her critique of “White House Down” is that she talks about how hard it would be for a double agent to enter the secret service implying that they’re a starting/junior member of the service but the movie shows a senior agent who was about to retire and did a last minute heel turn and had organized a terror attack because of a political issue that happened earlier in the president’s term. Those are two very different situations.

She is responding physically when cardinal rules are broken. If directors feature secret service in a movie, they should call her in to consult and be present on-set.
actually it's a good thing the movies are inaccurate. it obfuscate the real actions of the real guys and gals,,,
@@PrograError Of course. You would not want a secret service agent advising on a plausible kidnapping plot. I am sure they play out white hat scenarios all the time, but they don't have to do it educationally. Even the approach probing for actual weak spots would be problematic even if the plot device itself is dealt with when secret service is made aware of it.
*ABSOLUTE AGREED! WELL SAID!👊*
You learn so much in this video. It could help protect your family some day.
I honestly don't think I've laughed so hard reading a comment. This is beautiful lol
That was actually hilarious 😆
She means what she says

She is a complete badass. Hollywood should make an action movie about her starring her.

Occurs to me that IF someone made a movie accurate enough to get a 10/10 then Secret Service wouldn't let it get released.

Nah secret service are still cops. Never trust cops.
When are these people going to bring an actual assassin to comment on assassinations in movies?
fallah khan well they had Reaper on to talk about sniper assassinations.
I am pretty sure they have. Maybe not this media company but others have. They have had ex mob guys, hitmen and snipers on.
Well they’re in prison so...good luck filming that there
no shyt...wheres Antonio Banderas???
You should check out the iceman killer interview. Doesn’t talk about movies but it’s similar
I love how the one film in the whole list that's not even trying to act realistic is the one which is the most realistic

Best Security agency on earth, trained to defend their protectee in the most extremest of situations against the most dangerous threats imaginable. Most rigorous training ever. best of the best etc etc.
Yet they just got clowned by the 20yo kitchen employee of a nursery home with his dad's rifle.
Secret Service made no mistake.
Always nice to see a professional talk about their craft. Calm, measured and intelligent. Good watch.

This women is an absolute badass! You have no idea of how brave she is or what she is capable of.
Evy Poumpouras, God bless you!
Her passion that comes across in what she’s talking about definitely speaks volumes of her. What a woman!!!! She’s a complete badass!!!
She is clearly pissed over bad Hollywood depictions about Secret Service.
Everybody is pissed over hollywoodisation of their profession. My example: I am Air Force Pilot, and it ruins alot of movies for me.

I'm mad she didn't talk about independence day
Well, maybe it's a bad depiction because it is secret. Lol
I imagine having one's profession as depicted as incompetent repeatedly isn't flattering...
Gotta say, huge amounts of respect for the secret service. People literally willing to take a bullet for someone without even thinking.
Comes as part of the occupational hazard. They all know it and accept it readily
I don't anymore! They should pledge an oath to protect the constitution at all costs, not one man at the cost of other men & the country they have sworn to protect! They let Biden walk into a room with a man they knew was infected with covid! As a former VP, they are obligated to protect him!
@@lilaclizard4504 will you shut up man

omg. this woman is a true goddess. Eloquent, strong, gorgeous. Please take my heart.
Her ratings were brutal. Understandable from her experience though.
Finally, most raters are too generous.

Brutal but pretty factual, she did work in the secret service for 12 years so i reckon she knows what shes talking about

Hahaha 🤣 only thing realistic about that film was when Jamie fox and Channing Tatum were driving around in the beast and it was taking a beating from that 50 cal Machine gun and still driving

@@dawsynlarson696 I agree but she really doesn't know anything any secret service member can be a double Agent it be the ones you trust the most
@@jukess4 Not really. It's not just a matter of betrayal, it's a matter of compromise. They know your families. They know your financials. They know your medical diagnoses. They know your friends. You have a pretty airtight system for preventing agents from being coerced or blackmailed. Sure, one could up and decide to throw his or her life away to maybe kill the President assuming none of their colleagues notice a change in their behavior before committing such an act. By that same token, the President COULD throw his or her life away and kill an agent, but like...why?
@@ashleyneku5432 I just needed it more in a clear form I feel tho
Great video! She's clearly an accomplished professional and I would have listened to her for much longer. Bring her back for part 2!
Well, you should listen to her on "women of impact"
Who else is here after the Secret Service completely dropped the ball on Trump?
I mean ffs there were a hundred people screaming "GUN!" and stuff for 2 minutes before the shots came, sniper teams were badly prepared even though they should have had a good angle and the building (which was also like, extremely, suspiciously, close and a more than obvious place to shoot from) should have been cleared and surveilled or more.
Idk maybe the people she works with are better, but either she's living in a bubble and most of the service isn't all that good when it comes down to it ooooor they let it happen for whatever reason, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all. It just doesn't make sense. S'all I'm sayin.
The grenade used to disable the "beast" is a thermite genade (4000-5000F) . Those can burn through tanks, it will definitely disable the engine of that vehicle no matter how armored it is.
The most beautiful comment over here.
The presidential vehicle probably has multiple engines though.
@@p_serdiuk maybe a complementary electric one

Except thermite is no way capable of burning through tanks (nor any armour plate) in any reasonable time frame.

I need her to review Scandal and 24. Those secret service agents definitely went above and beyond.

@@aizat27 With Iron Man 3, she was looking at the situation through the lens of cold-hard reality and nothing else. But if you suspend disbelief and were to imagine what it would be like if people with super powers existed in the real world, then it would make perfect sense that government organizations would employ them, too and that there would be people protecting The President wearing high-tech, super-advanced battle-suits or people with super powers protecting The President.
