“18 years of nothing…and then twice in one day”…still hilarious…and the story of my life.
Lucky guy
after that line i can understand him wanting to keep his junk even more .
"I didn't want to stand around with my dork hanging out." We still miss ya, John :).
The Fishin Musician is still my favourite
Still a classic line.
When I was 10 years old 31 years ago seeing this on Cinemax and that line made me laugh
The REAL Den would have never said that!
Den just gave us levity
"You die, she dies... everybody dies." As a gamer/ D&D nerd, quotes from this movie were always at my table.
Sounds like Tomb Of Horrors.
'Guards, castrate him.' I like how casual he is about that order. Its like castration is so common it barely gets attention.
A very common thing back in the US slavery days....
Castration, a part of a complete breakfast!
@@Christophiel Much more common was the complete demasculation of all male slaves during the Islamic African slave trade that went on for many more centuries.
@@tsopmocful1958 people dont read, research, or remember.....
@@Christophiel it's been a common thing for the past few thousands of years for palace servants. Ever heard of eunuchs?
When I was a kid the local $1 theater used to feature Heavy Metal every Saturday night. I could quote this whole movie with my eyes closed. Den is the best. John Candy was so perfect for this, every single one of his lines is hilarious.
Hell yeah!
not at all
@@sexobscura what?
The Great John Candy, Loved That Man!
So Saddened He's Gone...
I can't believe they edited Candy's voice. There could never be a need for that. The man was a master at work.
They didn’t edit it. He was able to control the tone in his voice.
It’s called voice acting.
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was in high school. Pretty wild stuff. Great soundtrack too!
The first issue was awesome. Morbius was also excellent.
Me too but on acid. Ah ha 😁
You're so lucky. That's awesome.
Look at the way Den is standing @:46 😂
"This guy is a shrimp. So I'd play it tough."
Also, in a voice that would make Thanos jump: "Where is the girl?"
This movie is nuts
But in a good way! 😁
You really don’t see shows with this breakneck pace anymore.
Dude went from being captured to realizing a machine gun was useless against an immortal empire in less than two minutes.
You are now John Candy of Gor!!!
"Nothing for twelve years, and now, twice in one day! What a place!"
For me, this child hood movie was great.
Den was a badass
And later...
Queen -- The rising moon climaxes our love, Den. It is a sign.
Den -- Yes. A sign. (As Dan, "I had no idea what she was talking about.")
interesting, I like the new sound design, but I don't think they needed to pitch down Candy's voice for Den. he did a pretty damn good heroic voice in the original mix.
I was gonna say, I remembered his voice sounding different.
I like John Candy.
The hero here is voiced by John Candy. He was perfect for this nerd turned hunk.
Why?
@@ethanshepherd4963 His voice was a bit high pitched. His voice could be that of the nerd in this movie/cartoon
@ericmason349 Well, I will give you that - John Candy was particularly known for his "everyman" roles, meaning he comes off as being a regular guy audiences can identify with
Imagine a live action version of Heavy metal ? with a new episode each week like tales from the crypt .
Well, it does exists.
@@machinegun5385 really do tell ?
@@bradhilton2283 I think Love Death and Robots is a spiritual successor.
@@bradhilton2283 metal hurlant but It was made by the french for French Tv
@@JnEricsonx I've been thinking the same thing.
I jokingly call Den, John Candy of Mars
In the Nostalgia Critic video on this movie, he nicknamed him John Candy of Gor.
I love Den's heroic motif.
Great movie
Great Movie.
I like how Den shoots the Aard with like 6 -7 bullets but there’s only three bullet wounds showing up
R.I.P., John Candy. You were one of a kind. A shame you didn't take better care of yourself. :(
I remember catching this on late-night HBO one summer as a kid...."my dork hanging out" made my brother laugh for weeks....
"Guards! Castrate him." What a horrible command. 😬
John Candy's greatest role
With so this movie is a an anthology
I wonder if the clip in a headshot would have been more efficient and effective
He can take damage so brain removal is an option
Not likely. Ard wouldn't have taken that chance. =^[.]^=
@@Raycheetah lots of bullets and a near static Target Point Blank yeah could have made each one count and tested that theorem
I doubt it. Ard seems immortal if he can instantly heal from those bullet wounds and doesn’t seem to feel pain either.
The Main Reason I Went To See This Movie….Den.
Remember watching this whilst binging on ❄️ what a trip
Den for president
I can't imagine watching this movie on acid.
I recently did for the first time, my life has changed.
Crazy bro and enjoyable unless you can handle the trip
by the way the voice of Den is John Candy
I think august schellenburg did some voice work here
John Candy of Gor!
This film could be done is real live action. But, it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make it. And it would have to be R rated. I don't think it would be profitable for a film studio. But, it would be great to watch.
0:32 - Supreme Leader Mark Hamill.
Kia: save your breath.
Is it just me... or does the entire episode of this movie look like a isekai?
My brother thought that was hilarious.
I had a cat piss in my face and then I watched this.
funny on why Den kinda hardly has 🎸 in his 🤘🏻 background
Corbin
The first isekai
and the other earthling? from blue earth?
Where's the major boobage?
At the Breastiary in Nippopolous..duh
What the hell?! Where did you get this awful audio mix?
"This dude looked like a shrimp so I tried to act tough to intimidate him"
Truly power corrupts absolutely
He was a feeble human but when he's given strength by being turned into a hunk he wants to bully people, that's so cringe
...Well I guess no one is truly selfless and pure, if they were they wouldn't be human they'd be saints
I don’t know, Ard seemed more corrupt than Den was. Even though he’s a shrimp he’s an immortal shrimp.
I remember watching this on HBO way way back in the early 80s and loving the artwork. But now looking back the art kinda sucks compared to modern cartoons.
It's Justin Trudeau.
*He has bulletproof skin* 1:23
