This game is not based on a Bruce Lee movie. It's actually based on Wheels on Meals, a Jackie Chan movie. The game was called Spartan X in Japan which is the Japanese name of Wheels on Meals. The license was dropped in international releases, but the characters are still called Thomas and Sylvia which were characters from the film.
I forgive them because that movie was just insanely forgettable.
'Least to me it was. The only thing I can recall is that Sammo Hung was in it (Maybe).
That's very interesting. I thought Kung Fu was it's own thing.
It intentionally had nothing to do with the movie so Irem could easily distribute the game outside of Japan, unlike other Japanese media adaptations in the mid 80s like the Fist of the North Star game for the Master System which made absolutely no sense to non-Japanese people. Players would never know the proper methods of defeating the bosses without knowing how the show went.
@thenameisquickman is has more to do with Game of Death than Wheels on Meals. Probably Jackie Chan’s like 3rd worst movie
The real mind trip is just to think that people used to pay $40 for games like this.

The game looks more like a twisted version of Game of Death, but it's actually supposedly based on the Jackie Chan movie, Wheels on Meals. Jackie's name is Thomas, where he has to save an heir to a royal Spanish family, Sylvia from Mr. X. Unfortunately, there are no tumbling midgets in the movie itself, but he does fight a somewhat shorter dood who kicks a lot of ass. Still, no giants bees or dragons :(

This was one of my most favorite games; used to play it so many times on my NES back in the late 80's. Now I gotta go back and play it XD Also, Danny's really freaken good at it.
i remember at my pediatrician, i used to love going there because they had this arcade machine. it had a shit load of NES games on it including Kung-Fu, Pro Wrestling, Metroid, Contra, etc.
i swear with Kung-Fu i never got past the first floor. but let me tell you how those visits to the doctor is what really got me into retro gaming. amazing what fun these older more obscure games can give you. *sigh* i miss being 7

I don't know if anyone notices but the laugh (if you can even hear it) when the guy who throws bees and kills danny (around 6:29 and other spots) is the same laugh used by ganon in The legend of Zelda II: Link's adventure. The laugh is just sped up though a tiny bit.
