      A great idea, but most herbs need sunlight, and she said that area tended to be shady. I’m sure she will find other plants that will grow in that light.

  • @GodessSiri
    @GodessSiri 2 місяці тому +70

    My immediate thought when you said that area might not get enough sun was Star Jasmine! It's a pretty climber that deals well with partial shade, will give you a gorgeous scent just outside your kitchen, the white flowers will fit well with the rest of the colors in your garden, it will grow nicely on a trellis or wires and you don't need to worry about it damaging the wall like some climbers will.
    I'm glad you were able to move your curio into the living room. I've found with renovation, when everything is in chaos, if I can keep one tiny tiny area styled and pretty then is soothes my soul.

      Star jasmine is a great idea for that spot! The house I grew up in had it as you came up the front stairs, so you smelled it coming and going. I have planted it near doors or windows in every house since. To me it smells like home. (It also works to cut and tuck it into rose bouquets)

    Ummm so we completed a full blown kitchen gut job right down to the studs, new everything while pregnant with our 20th anniversary surprise baby. We did all the work mostly and we lived out of our basement kitchenette during the 3 year project. I recommend a buffet (plastic) table over the unneeded items. You will find that you really need a prep space. Life saving items would be a toaster oven/air fryer, instant pot, electric hot pan and an electric tea kettle. Granted our project was much longer but it really helped our sanity. Covering up the unneeded area with some sort of table cloth or curtains will also make it feel homier and cozy. When your pregnanant it really helps with your mental state. Much love and congrats 💕

    Check out all the things you can make in a slow cooker, instant pot, an air fryer or a toaster oven. Romeo can clean some of these things outside with the hose. It’s also good to have a hot pot that I use to make hot tea. It heats up water very quickly.

    It’s awesome the contractor was able to start the kitchen so quickly. We had quoted to have our kitchen done several years ago and we were told at the time it wouldn’t start for a minimum of three months and would take at least eight months to complete, and it wasn’t even a huge renovation. Such a relief to know you have someone that is taking care of it quickly.

    As a fellow pool owner who lives in Florida and has been through several hurricanes and many heavy rain storms, I will tell you that you need to lower the water level in your pool when you have a lot of rain. My brother lives in Pasadena, and he was able to avoid flooding by doing that. Loving the renovation. Can't wait to see your process. Good luck with everything. 😊

    Hi MaCenna. I recently saw on Hannah Westby’s instagram that a lot of vintage wood furniture contain lead. She found out her baby had high levels of lead and it was because all of the baby’s things were inside furniture that tested positive for lead. I think it would be good to test any vintage furniture that will go into the nursery because babies are much more sensitive to these things

    During my kitchen renovation last year I had to set up my temp kitchen under a gazebo outside. My house is too small for it to have fit anywhere else, and our entire living area was renovated and extended. So of course the rains came a few weeks earlier than expected… cooking dinner on a gas 1-plate then getting the food in through a bedroom window to eat was super fun. I project managed the reno. Wish I had had my airfryer back then but only got it in January - would have been a game changer.

    I can't believe the kitchen is gone already! When we did our kitchen, I had prepped crockpot meals and pasta sauces that we could freeze. Then I could "cook" with just a crock pot or a plug-in electric burner. Good luck with this project!
    And don't stress about the glucose tests. Lots of us fail the first one, but pass the second. Totally normal.

    Fill an old bigger jug of laundry detergent with water. You can open and close the tab. You can use it to help wash any dishes you have. Get a plastic bucket as well. Just set them up on a folding table outside.

    In Australia when we do our glucose test during pregnancy, they take your blood when you get there, you drink the drink, wait an hour, take more blood, wait ANOTHER hour and take more bloods and then they compare all three blood tests in the lab and figure it out from that!!!

    You can absolutely still cook and do dishes with your make shift system. Use a sandwich toaster during the day and BBQ dinner outside. Have one plate, bowl, cup, spoon, knife and fork each. Put dirty items in a tub and wash them outside or in your laundry sink - once a day! Just wipe them throughout the day if you need to. If you set your mind that you’re “camping at home” you’ll achieve more than you think you can without a kitchen. Not a good look to start using single use plates and eating all packaged foods when you can absolutely make do without additional waste and processed food - Mum of 3 here and yes I’ve lived through renovations! You got this! 💪🏻

I've had it done before of course, especially for T1 Dx...but to actually see the test results showing my body (our T1 bodies) really makes NO INSULIN, and all the other hormones the pancreas makes, is shocking...EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

    Canadian Health and Wellness coach here. Did you know that a good number of people have a blood sugar problem? There are even people who have perfect results from a blood glucose test but their insulin could still be high, or not functioning properly (fyi most conventional doctors believe that if your blood sugar is fine then so is your insulin. Not true. However this is something that may take years before conventional medicine recognizes/discovers this. Unfortunately they are about 17 - 20 years behind the science). Everyone should, at the very least, have their blood sugar tested. Here are some simple tips to help avoid blood sugar spikes. #1 Stop eating snacks between meals. Every time we eat we get a spike in our blood glucose. We don’t want that. We want to keep it as even as possible and prevent the big up and downs (crashes/fatigue). Now everyone is different and there may be people who are having blood sugar issues who need to have healthy snacks between meals to help maintain level blood sugar. Do listen to your health practitioner. However a good majority of people don’t have healthy snacks. They usually are eating simple carb snacks like chips, muffins, donuts, cookies etc. These items turn quickly to glucose and spike blood sugar. We need to eat meals that have GOOD fat (not the inflammatory seed oils) like avocado, salmon, sardines, mackerel etc and use fruit and nut oils like olive oil, avocado oil, walnut oil etc. #2 Eat greens, salad, veggies BEFORE eating protein, carbs and dessert. The greens or veggies are good fibre which take a little while to digest. This helps slow down the quick conversion of the carbs and dessert in your meal to glucose, preventing large glucose spikes (search for the Glucose Goddess). 💚🥑🥝🫒🫐🍋🧄🌶
