Corgi restoration Rover 3500 No. 338. Toy model cast.

Today's Corgi model is the Rover 3500 in the scale 1: 36. The Meetoy company, following global trends, made this model in 1980 on a larger scale than normal, with a large number of accessories. You can enable subtitles with comments in your language in the video. In the Rover 3500, anything that could open was opened. I bought the model at a flea market. In my copy, only the steering wheel was missing and it required refreshing with the new painting. I made a new FC 52 resin steering wheel, dyed with black dye. Corgi used this model of steering wheel in many models, so there was no problem with that. I chrome-plated many plastic parts with Molotow liquid and made a box with a window for it, in which it looks very nice. I glued the dismantled windows again on the plastic glue, which becomes transparent after drying. I just picked up one of these in an antique store. I got it for nostalgias sake because my dad bought the real car back in the 80s with money from a redundancy. It was the first automatic car I'd ever been in and the first time I'd seen electric windows.

Vielen Dank Paul. Genau wie Sie die Fabrik schreiben, haben sie diese Farbtöne auf genau die gleiche Weise gemalt. Ich bin ganz zufällig darauf gekommen, vor langer Zeit habe ich die Farbe von einem solchen Modell abgezogen und die Schicht aus transparentem Lack hat sich gelöst, während die silberne Grundierung übrig geblieben ist. That 3.5 l. engine started out as an all-aluminun V-8 made by Buick in the USA in the early '60s. It was a little underpowered for the typical 4,000 pound American sedan so Buick sold the tooling to Rover where it made for very impressive performance.
A few years later the fuel crisis happened and Buick would have loved to use this engine instead if the cast iron, straight-6 OHV engine it had to use for economy.
Weird scale -- nice model once rebuilt!

I really wanted one of these SD1's when I was younger.
Didn't happen though, insurance was toooo high. Had to stick to my Vauxhall Calton est 2.2 mk2.
Did get to drive a few, they were like a boat on the 9th parallel south.

Nicer colour than the original - those metallic blues can look cheap, but that choice turned out very well! I've been told the Molotow works better if the parts to be chrome painted are sprayed in flat black first... not experimented yet! I remember driving these in 1976 when they were launched: amazing at the time!

Молотов Хром очень не стойкая краска. При не большом механическом воздействии хромовый блеск стирается, и получается просто алюминиевый.

Конечно правильно, но с разного рода имитациями хрома этот самый лучший, я его часто защищаю акриловым лаком, немного теряет блеск, но зато неубиваемый
