- Join me as I visit the Shanghai AutoShow 2023 at the National Convention Center;
The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) (NECC) is an exhibition and convention centre in Shanghai, China. The NECC is currently the largest exhibition complex, making it one of the landmark buildings in Shanghai. The building was co-built by Ministry of Commerce of China and Shanghai Municipal Government.
The center consists of four exhibition halls, the NECC Plaza, office buildings and a hotel. The façade of the NECC building draws inspiration from a "four-leaf clover" with the plaza as the core and the exhibition halls as its leaves.
Located in the Qingpu District in western Shanghai, the NECC enjoys multiple means of transportation provided by the Hongqiao transportation hub, including buses, metro, high-speed railway and airport. Metro Line 2's East Xujing station is the closest metro station to the center.
“Embracing the New Era of Automobile Industry”
Auto Shanghai 2023 will be grandly held in April, Shanghai
The 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “Auto Shanghai 2023”) will be held from April 18 to April 27 at National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Auto Shanghai 2023, as a famous name card of Shanghai city, will once again serve as a grand industrial event for the car manufacturers around the world, boosting the confidence of auto market, increasing automobile consumption, invigorating the industry and forging cooperation for high-quality development.
Auto Shanghai 2023 is organized by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and China Council for the Promotion of International trade, Automotive Sub-Council, co-organized by Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd. and Messe München GmbH as the German Co-organizer. China Machinery Industry Federation is the special supporter of the exhibition while the Society of Automotive Engineers of China is the supporter.
According to the exhibition schedule, April 18 and April 19 are press days open only for media; April 20 to April 21 are trade days and April 22 to April 27 are public days.
Auto Shanghai 2023 has attracted the active participation of over 1,000 exhibitors. With an exhibition area of over 360,000sqm, Auto Shanghai will occupy 13 indoor halls of NECC (Shanghai). Among them, 9 halls are for passenger vehicles (3H, 4.1H, 5.1H, 6.1H, 6.2H, 7.1H, 7.2H, 8.1H, 8.2H); 3 halls are for auto tech and supply chain (1.2H, 2.1H, 2.2H); 1 hall is for media(5.2H). Except the above, the venue has the functional and service area such as catering area, rest area, first-aid stations etc.
Auto Shanghai 2023 will only offer E-tickets. Visitors are required to buy E-tickets in advance, apply for real name authentication, and scan valid personal ID for entry (for visitors from non-mainland China, a valid ID such as passport is required for entry), and strictly follow the visit date marked on the E-ticket.

The chinese goverment analysied the market about 20 years ago and invest into the market with +100B$ it the last decade. it was just a matter of time.

North American countries don't have to worry about malicious competition from China's electric vehicles, because North American countries are protecting their local companies. China's electric vehicles will not affect local companies in North America, and there will be no price competition. People in North America can still buy high-priced and average-quality electric vehicles with confidence. I am also one of them.
It is your own lost stuck with mediocre average quality and high priced cars, while the world is moving forward. Especially, The Chinese EV cars will set new norm for future car markets

@@Stepheny15 所以我正在研究从中国买吉利运输到加拿大的事情。而且这样的话在中国买车不需要缴纳购置税，增值税和车船税。也就是说4s店里买完了不落户不上牌直接用板车运输到港口，运费一般在1200-20 极氪00刀左右。这一切其实都不算难，主要是到温哥华以后如何报关上牌照的问题。因为加拿大的的车辆管理系统中肯定没有吉利这个牌子，卡在这一步。领克和极氪也是同理。如果能知道怎么在加拿大的车辆系统里面录入注册，那这样的方式完全可行。

Yes, some will be gone, but the top 5 would be around. First, the CCP will not withdraw the subsidies if so many is truly doing badly as this is one of China's most import future industry. Secondly, China's cars export had been increasing and doing good, so there is no reason that it will fail so badly. I don't give a damn about western talk about how China will fail and they had been talking about it for 20 years, but it never came true.
@@deebil8099 aren't that always how the market goes. Say in the past, there are many chip makers other than Intel, Nvidia & AMD. The market always has many players at the start, then either the others fall down, or they consolidate. The few remains become the big player in the industry. Many large companies nowadays also come from this cycle (Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc).

Good news for consumers. These EV companies will have a first round competition within China, only the winner has the ability to sell overseas.
Good luck finding a replacement battery for your Chinese EV when that company is out of business. Might have to buy a whole new car. That doesn't seem like it's good for the environment, but what do the Chinese care about the environment? They built more coal power plants than anyone else in the world

@@Metapharsical Do you have similar footage about Tesla? We all know that batteries have some mileage to go given that they are so highly packed into a large bundle. But BYD batteries are less likely than Tesla to explode given the materials (LIL is less combustible).

I think this whole BEV craze should slow down until we invent a better battery for this purpose. .nevermind the lack of quick-charging infrastructure to support popular adoption
All the batteries in R&D right now are insufficient; 1/100 power density compared to Petrol. Batteries must be special fit to the vehicle chassis. And Yes, Battery chemistry has an environmental impact, from mining the elements, producing the cells, to running the powerplants to charge them *cough* coal-powered-China *cough* ..and then there is the non-existent recycling plan.. China/US/Africa? Who's going to pay to recycle all the packs when they reach end of life? 💀🔋🌊
What if these new automakers (Geely, BYD, Tesla, etc..) does not exist in 15 years.. No one makes a replacement battery.. Throw the whole car away???
Might as well steer towards Hydrogen Fuel Cells while we're still at the starting line of non-ICE transition. But No... China is all-in for BEV because they're strip mining Africa and shipping finished goods thru CCP-Controlled supply chains.
Meanwhile, the whole reason we have to do this is because of China's crazy high industrial emissions destroying the planet. They output more pollution than ALL other developed countries COMBINED

I was there in China back in 2017, there were very few EVs on the streets, and there again in the fall 2022, and about 10% or more vehicles I saw are electric, plus all the e-scooters there, it’s truly amazing just how fast everything going in China once they have their eyes onto it.
China imposed a mandate on automakers requiring that electric vehicles (EVs) make up 40% of all sales by 2030. so yes its going up

The Atto 3 has been on sale in Australia since the 19th of February 2022, with deliveries starting from mid-September 2022 after a short delay and selling well.
It's companies like VW that are reluctant to sell their Ev's in Australia due to supply and government incentives offered in other countries as to why to this day there are no VW branded Evs sold in Australia, so Chinese brands like BYD and MG just got on with supplying their Ev's here.
The BYD Dolphin and Seal sedan are the next to go on sale here by the end of 2023.
Ora cat, MG4 have gone on sale in Australia with the Cupra Born Ev the only Ev on sale and in limited numbers, None of the VW id family of Evs are on sale here.

Nice 4K video, which camera / phone did you use. Some lighting when outside need to more intelligent. Overall, put NYC autoshow to shame. BYD high end luxury brand will challenge the likes of Bently, RollsRoyce and with better EV performance.
