When I first heard it the first girl that starts singing caught me off guard after the inital instrumental. In a good way I think it's her pronunciation.
same! It’s like her voice is too in your face and the instrumentals at the far back. But yeah it definitely has something to do with her pronunciation and perhaps the mixing as well
Ryan Jhun lurks around these comment boards, so if I am wrong hopefully he will correct me. But from what I have read, one big reason for the top quality of this debut is that apparently bugAboo were supposed to debut in mid-2020 but the company decided to hold off due to the pandemic and just continued to work on performance quality. During the behind-the-scenes video of the group's recent pre-debut covers one of the members says that they were practicing those medleys for almost two years, and I would expect that they have put similar diligence into their debut performances. This definitely feels like Ryan Jhun's personal girl group project, and I would not be at all surprised if he was in charge of all their music going forward and for all their MVs to have this level of quality. I can quibble on some of the "story" points of the MV, but overall, I loved this debut and can't wait to see what bugAboo do in the future! Ryan, if you're out there, props to you and all the members!!
Choyeon the one with the whip and Eunchae black hair with bangs both from Prod48 finally debuted... PD Zin was the vocal powerhouse you kept noticing Main Vocal and Maknae... and yes they incorporate the pyramid on live performances...
This was Eunchae and Choyeon's highly anticipated debut! and bugAboo did not disappoint at all. That bass line in the verses is so good also that whole section from the prechorus to the chorus and then the hook is so addictive :) lol basically the whole song :D
@@formoftherapy Yeah, with Choyeon and Eunchae from Produce 48. But, also some people like me found out about bugAboo because of the news of Ryan Jhun's involvement from A Team Ent. As much as I loved their debut, it hurts me to know who is behind the group and the issues that occurred before the debut
this song is really a very solid debut, the concept, the song (i love the bridge and pre-chorus so much), the vocal, the girls' charisma and stage(?) presence. they are so awesome! i love seeing choyeon and eunchae doing so well here! happy to see them finally debut ;_;
Thank you for reacting to Bugaboo! I have not been this excited after a debut since STAYC! Fun facts: 1. The girl you said has great camera prescence/you like her voice is Zin, the maknae. 2. They indeed do the pyramid in the choreo for live stages 3. Two of the members were on Produce 48: Choyeon (blonde hair, leader) and Eunchae (dark hair/bangs/rapper)
I literally thought the same, that would be Hyunjin if she got more lines in LOONA and had more stable vocals and vocal range... I hate to say it but c'mon...
This was a phenomenal debut, I love the sound of it, the structure/flow of the song, the bridge which is just so unique, and the way the members were able to flex their vocals especially in the 1st verse, it's just amazing!
Two of the girls in BugABoo, Choyeon (blonde hair) and Eunchae (black hair with blunt bang cut) were on Produce 48. They both did amazing on the show, so glad to see them debuting now.
I love this song and MV SO much. That descending harmonized "nanana" sequence in the middle of the chorus is one of the best few seconds of sound I've heard in years. Edit: that little recorder trill breaking between the bridge and the last chorus is 100% the first notes of Ennio Morricone's main theme from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and arguably the most instantly recognizable and evocative 5 notes in film score history. It _might_ actually be a straight-up pitched down sample, comparing to the original the tempo seems dead on.
I bought the album after just 2 listen. I knew them before their debut and already fell in love with their visuals, then this song slaps so hard I stan them right away >
The name of the girl whose voice you like is zin and she’s also the same girl you pointed out that has a lot of charisma and camera presence. She’s also the main vocalist and maknae
The voice of the girl reminds me a bit of Girls Day‘s Minah I‘m really happy you checked out Bugaboo, i anticipated this debut mainly because of Choyeon but at the end this Group as a whole stole my heart. And I ABSOLUTELY agree with you, 11/10 yes!!
about bugaboo's story and concept: the group's concept is trauma....literally. Every girl has their own "bugAboo" which is like a trauma/path obstacle that is based on their own real life experiences, for example, member eunchae's bugAboo is time stopping/getting frozen in time forever because out of all the members she has the most years of training in comparison to the others (6 years), she was also in pd48 and even switched companies twice i think, so at some point she felt like time was freezing and she would never debut until she got in the line-up for bugaboo, so the whole storyline is the girls working together and overcoming their own traumatic experiences, also if i'm not mistaken, they also use the alternate world that groups like loona or aespa use: in bugAboo's universe there's the bug world and the boo world, so the bug world is basically like regular earth, society and such while the bug world is where their own bugaboo's live and can enter and leave it at will to scare the girls, and their debut album and title track symbolizes that like battle, they say "hey this world, call it bugAboo" as reffering to a combination of both worlds, also the girl pd said that he seemed to see before, her name is ZIN, and she holds a certain resemblance to weeekly's monday in physical appearance and GWSN's Lena
I remember giving this song an 8/10 on first listen but it grew on me so much so quick. I think it's fresh and not like anything we see being put out these days, and the production is absolutely spectacular! Agree with you now about it being 11/10 haha.
I looooved bugaboos debut! I was so excited for them and they exceeded my expectations. Thank you for reacting and loving it too~~ Now i only hope they will continue as strong as they started 🖤👻
Totally agree with your review! I love so much this song, so refreshing, a mix of western movie sound & funky pop, so catchy! A lot of budget exactly! They impressed me, i didn't know the group, click on my recommendation and i was surprised, it's a debut group and song? I heard 2 members are from Produce and this debut group is eagerly awaited!
PD, Thank You for making reactions to not (yet) well-known groups like this! I usually wait for groups to get older to have some history of theirs to explore or basically I don’t pay attention to everything, what is coming out or debuting. So without you, I would have missed this group and I am glad I did not.
So thankful Youha created such an amazing song as always, anything Youha works on is going to be a certified hit and with Bugaboo talents the song goes all the way to God tier
I think the reason Zin sounds so familiar is because she annunciate’s and has a similar tenor to Jo Yuri. Especially when she is ending a line. You may have also heard her on I can see your voice 7.
Another great video with substantial commentary PD! Saw this M/V once before watching the Kulture Study and thought it was solid. Really appreciating it more after processing your comments. Exciting to see a quality debut like this one out of seemingly nowhere!
I'm not really into girl groups, but I've been looking forward to their debut for so long now as their dance covers on insta when they were trainees were just amazing! And the girls didn't disappoint, this debut was fantastic! 🙌

Imma say it today(on the 31st of December 2021)~Best debut of 2021. Also the B-Side "All Night Play" is probably one of the best Debut B-Sides in the history of kpop.
As soon as it came out I've seen many people complaining about the lyrics and I find it pretty dumb how people have the need to say something negative out of nothing. Youha did an amazing choice of words for this song, I love when singers or rappers make even the weirdest words sound SO GOOD and pleasing to hear and bugaboo did that for me
