Cube vocalists are really top tier. BTOB, 4minute, CLC, Pentagon, (G)I-DLE and now Lightsum all proved to be really good vocalists. Up to this day, I still can't fathom how Cube managed to recruit these talented idols LOL
The girl with the "Jennie hair" is Chowon. She was on produce 48 and she was 1 of 2 girls who got affected by the voter rigging scandal. Chowon actually placed 6th overall but since she was rigged out of the final lineup, she placed 13th. She SHOULD have been part of IZ*ONE. But since we are talking about izone, I totally agree. Vivace is a step in the right direction in filling that hole. Also, Juhyeon is the girl you said has insane camera presence, she is the phenomenal dancer who was on The Unit. She is also the leader of Lightsum 💕
I still feel so bad her. She must have been devastated, she missed a huge opportunity and while I like their music, who knows how successful lightsum will be?
@@JD_Dale2608 idk what ur asking exactly but yes the beatdrop sort of thing and sound is described as izone like, and the concept. Although wjsn and gwsn did it before and arguably better. Like the sets and the black and white chequer clothes and sets. I’d describe it like sort of cosmic and elegant, grandeur? Giving very save me save you, puzzle moon, la la love stuff like that. So no. not izones concept really, but people coin it as that because they’re more mainstream
I feel like lightsum have alot of common fans from izone. I think besides starship they have the highest concentration of popular kpop idols that came out of produce 48. They have a 6th, 21st and 51st. Very smart to try and take some of the izone stans between izone disbandment and all the members having their permanent groups.
I also think it’s smart considering it’s not even a guarantee that once the members get into their own group or solo careers they will have a similar concept to izone. Like I highly doubt starship will because they already have WJSN. The one I could see most likely doing it is Hybe and whatever they decide to do with Chaewon and Sakura. I think Minju and Hyewon are more likely to go into acting rather than continuing as an idol.
I don't think they're trying to take Iz*one as you said, i feel like this is more like a f you for people who said Chowon get rigged out because she won't fit this kind of concepts (sugary and pretty concept) so I think they're more likely to take Iz*one antis or appeals to national producers (people who watch & votes during pd48 were referred as national producers)
I think Cube Ent just bravely took this type of concept back to them considering IZ*ONE's debut song was originally meant to be a comeback for their group CLC.
I relate so much to juhyeon having the strongest presence. She's very amazing. I'm so biased but really she's very professional when it comes to stage presence. Maybe because she has the longest experience.
The problem with the missing "high note" is that the two main vocals have naturally lower ranges. If they let them sing in their natural and not head voice either Nayoung or Chowon would eat a run up!
Chowon can belt the fuck out. she has this sharp and clear tone similar as IZ*ONE's Yujin combined with (G)I-DLE's Miyeon. they just missed the opportunity to do it. And for Nayoung, her strength is doing clear and angelic falsettos.
And not all songs have to have a high note. I think Vivace is fine without. And Chowon proved herself a high note queen many times. Vanilla is an example.
They've tried two musical routes now with Vanilla and Vivace and I must say so far I'm digging their music. It's interesting to see where they're going next (if they're going back or they're going to explore genres again) But I must point this out, I feel like they need to push the other members more (be it killing parts or just fair-ish line distribution) and not just Nayoung, Chowon, Yujeong and Juhyeon cause it felt like they're just rotating the lines between them 4 members :/
for what i heard they're trying all concept but in sweet pop mix girlcrush path, i hope 1 day they gonna do some powerpop/girlcrush cube style like 4minute etc.
Gives IZ*ONE. And it's a compliment, not comparing the groups or anything. EDIT: About the "missing something", I think the song is great but gets better and better with time and it'll get stuck on your mind.
I think it really is just the lack of a true "hook" that's missing. Every time I listen to Vivace it impresses me more and more with its technical excellence, but it never gets stuck in my head and thus is rarely a song I actively seek out. It just comes up on shuffle, and I'm like wow that's a good song, and then I don't think about it again until the next time it gets shuffled in.
The fact that I just recognized the vibe even before the chorus, gosh I need some therapy to fill a hole in my heart rn. edit: just realized that vivace had the same "false ending" like izone does, instead of ending the song with a beat, they end it by singing some outro lines.
I recommend to all who liked Vivace to check also their other two songs, "You Jam" and "Popcorn" ... I personally liked Popcorn alot, it was produced for the same team as Vanilla, but it's so good. Anyway, thank you alot for this review, all kind of critics is a form of support for this rookie group.
If Vanilla appealed to non-fans, Popcorn could be a good follow up (That's actually my fave track off the ep tho. Just very fluffy and not heavy-sounding tho)
The girl with the blonde frontal pieces framing her face is actually Han Chowon from PD48! She's the main vocalist now but more people probably know her for her rap in the song Rumor! I 100% agree with you on styling cause WOW they did her absolute justice.
For the record, "vivace" (/viˈva.t͡ʃe/) just means "lively", but I believe it's used in music scores to indicate a change to a faster tempo, which to be fair is what the chorus does.
yes, vivace is an italian term used to indicate that a passage in a piece should be played in a lively or brisk manner. So I think they used it well here :)
This was Chowon’s revenge era and I’m all here for it SHE DESERVED TO BE AN IZ*ONE GIRLIE. They slapped on their IZ*ONE and WJSN wigs and slayed per usual
chowon said it in sumday that this "cool concept" actually suits her well. 😌 she could've rocked this a long time ago but things happen. glad people could enjoy this side of lightsum.
11:39 i agree! As a Pentagon fan and a casual listener of Cube artists back in 2nd gen (hi 4minute and b2st), i completely agree that cube artists are underrated great and skilled singers. Great examples are Yoseop, everyone in Btob, Jinho Hui and Hongseok, Miyeon, etc. We are not gonna talk about cube's management but their artists are really well trained (and not only in singing). 🥰
The funny thing is that PD complementing both Nayoung (17:17) and Chowon (17:24) about their vocals driving this song and this song sounding like it coud be on an IZ*ONE discography is that they both appeared on PD48 with the IZONE members, and it melts my PD48 heart.
Maybe you heard about these girls, the one that caught your attention is Nayoung at 1:53, she participated in Produce 48 as a EXID's agency trainee and finished at 21st place Girl at 2:03 is Yujeong, she ranked 51st on Produce 48 A girl with great vocals and a lot of screentime is a Chowon at 2:11, she took 13th place on the Produce 48, but last year it was exposed that her rank was falsified (#6 originally) and she had to go to the IZ*ONE lineup with Lee Gaeun (ex. After School), who finished 14th (#5 originally) The one you knew is Juhyeon at 2:21, she was really popular on The Unit and now she is main dancer and leader of the group
16:40 the juhyeon praise 🥰 she really is on another level!!! but at the same time, she still fits in the group you know? I mean she knows the time to shine and blend with the group at the same time. Very very impressive.
I had just discovered this group and it made me feel bad that I didn't hear about them. So happy for Chowon, Nayoung, and Juhyeon. Watched them all on PD48 and the unit, so I know what they can do to make this group great. more power to Lightsum!!
Yes! I agreed with the part after the bridge, they should’ve belted a high note at that part. It would’ve been a really good high light. And it’s not like they couldn’t cause they do have a vocalist (Chowon) who could’ve done it.
YESYESYES the first time I hearded it I was "wait is this the sister of izone's panorama?????"!!! and a curiosity there are 2 members from lightsum (nayoung and chowon, the 2 main vocalists) that participate in produce48 and almost got into izone!!!
*I wanted that last line from Juhyeon longer, SO BADLY. The change in the melody was so good. It would have given the song a stronger lasting impression.* Still love this tho. And yes, the first few notes gave that Iz*one vibes from the get-go. Also Chowon fitting well and proving that she deserved that spot taken from her in PD48.
yes when i first watched the teaser i was like "wait wait wait this sounds like fiesta and panorama" but in the end i just vibed with it and play it almost everyday
I enjoy your videos so much. You give such good insight, and though I don't always agree with things you say, I can understand where you're coming from and that makes me like your videos more. Keep up the good work!
In terms of how you think of it being similar with Iz*one. In my opinion its cause the producer that did this song, also produced several of Iz*ones songs, that is why it gives such familiar vibes.
Same PD, they really remind me of Izone and i wish they'd fill the void in my heart that Izone left. Also totally agree with the post bridge, I wish there was some power house vocals like Jo Yuri! Definitely excited for what they have in store in the future.
both of them are main vocalists, while the lead vocalist is Juhyeon, the one you said have a great camera presence haha. they are indeed a vocal powerhouses, also dancing powerhouses! i really like the song too. their b-sides, Popcorn and You jam! are also great!!
My girls getting praised left, right and center, love to see it. Thank you PD for reacting to them! This song feels so much like a step in the right direction for them, this sound and style fits them so well. As you said, even if there'll never be a group that can quite fill the hole IZ*ONE left, I love seeing rookie groups taking their own swing at this concept. I think as they grow and improve, Lightsum could really bring back that sound but with their own twist to it (especially if/when Cube starts letting them produce their own music)
i saw the similarities since they dropped the concept images it give me so much iz*one vibe and then the mv dropped and it's like a remix of iz*one last three cbs together with different lyrics that is not very creative obviously and everyone can see the similarities since they had a unique sound but i think it's a cube's strategy so they'll gain the people who liked iz*one sound and since they're gone lightsum will be the only the ones who will be doing it now
Cube should really upgrade Yujeong to lead vocalist considering how well she has done in Vivace. Probably all the members got to sing the whole song and they found Yujeong's vocals most suited to the lines she was given.
Ive taken the past few days to really get into lightsum and I really enjoy this group. Vivace is a great song and they have an overall talented group of girls. They are good with variety as well, their shows are very entertaining. Shoutout to lightsum, they are filling the hole iz*one left when they disbanded so I can't wait for their future!
PD I don't know if you know but one member of LIGHTSUM was actually the 13th place in PRODUCE 48 meaning she was almost in IZ*ONE, she's Chowon the one who always sings the first line of the chorus.
IF AT ALL ANYONE HAS TO SAY, Go on from producer or cube(this sound is not like copyrighted by Izone, there are videos with similar vibe of wjsn, lovelyz..); GROUP doesn't have a SAY and they r newly debuted, so refrain from 'attacking' group.
"between her and her one of them is the main and one of them is the lead vocal" that's our double main vocals! Chowon (blonde front highlights) and Nayoung. And yes Chowon can do those powerhouse vocals that you are asking for, her range is insane. That's actually my first impression as well, I loved her adlibs in Vanilla and I thought that was missing here in the last chorus.
18:39 my thoughts exactly! something's missing on the bridge. Chowon (Jennie hair) could go crazy powerful on belting high note and i think they missed that opportunity there. Either Juhyeon (The great dancer how has an amazing vocals too) or Nayoung (The other main vocalist who u really like) could have sing the last chorus while Chowon doing the powerful highnote. either way. the song is great
The producer of the song is the same with iz*one was, so the style is the same but they r not trying to be, i hope lightsum try new concept every comeback, not stick to one concept, cause in the future their discography will be unique if they try every concept, like their brother btob
Both of the girls he points out are the main vocals, the one with the good expressions is the lead vocal. And probably the one who starts the bridge now. It shocks me that he doesnt know who Chowon is especially since he mention IZ*ONE so much-
Yes... someone explained the first time I heard Vanilla. We think the same about Vanilla (just only fine). I like Vivace than Vanilla but then I want a song that can play in my head the first time I listen to it...something like that. I am following this group too because of Juhyeon because I watched her in UNI-T. And from then I am waiting for her to debut. Still looking forward to this group.
I'm so glad I was not the only one that got reminded of IZONE when listening to VIVACE. I think CUBE and LIGHTSUM are very smart to go in this direction since this style has a void in the industry now that IZONE's over.
It's definitely an Electro pop song that progresses similar to Fiesta and Panorama with the use of similar synths and samples. I think it's a strategic move since they knew with the lack of Iz*one they could fill in the gap in the market for the moment, on-top of that one of the members were meant to debut with Iz*one creating a further parallel. In saying that, I think it still has Lightsum's touch and personality and they did the concept very well! Great song!
Funny you mention izone since chowon was rigged out. she placed 6th. I love this song even more becosue its a fuck yu to all the haters who say chowon would not have fit the vibe. also the dancer juhyeon entered cube the same month as soyeon.
@@sinambelamuhammadfahreza2722 Oh really? i think tenzo and WWWAVE produced vivace while iz*one's title track producer is 손영진 (Son Young Jin), 정구현 (Jeong Gu Hyun), Seo Ji Eum (서지음), Choi Hyun Joon (최현준) & 김승수 (Kim Seung Soo) only tenzo and WWWAVE produced iz*one bsides songs if i'm not mistaken :)))
yes! I really love this comeback!!! Good stuff in their future I hope!!! BTW PD, Dreamnote just came back with a song called Ghost today! It's really good you should check it out
I don't really like the mv because it doesn't really feel like they're working with what they have🤔 there's nothing wrong with having a low budget (or at least less expensive than usual) music video because you can control money but then you really gotta work with the creativity. Check out DDARA by Golden Child for example, they really worked with it. Here I just felt like they repeated the same shots over and over, especially the camerawork could have changed a lot. But as always with Cube the song is absolutely phenomenal! I personally prefer Vanilla but the girls are singing like the world is ending! Super good work.
THIS. Some companies do a LOT with little budget. Two examples that come to mind are Piri from Dreamcatcher and Addicted from PIXY. Two low-budget MV with little sets, still the cinematography and the creativity made it work. Same thing for Helicopter from CLC, Cube did a lot with little budget. Here, I do feel the budget was quite good, the creativity was the biggest issue. Most sets looked similar to one another, similar shots, lack of good camera work.
OMG I LITERALLY FELT THE SAME WAY!!!! I MISS IZ*ONE. I WAS SO SAD WHEN THEY DISBANDED BECAUSE I FOUND THEM LIKE A MONTH OR TWO BEFORE THEY SEPERATED❤️😭😭 NOW THAT LIGHTSUM IS HERE IF MAKES ME FEEL A LITTLE BETTER. That’s so crazy you said that lol

You know how we wish for some songs to tone the pitch down? Somehow this song suffered from being on the lower register(?) making the song somehow sound stagnant all throughout. It really needed that Explosive high note at the end or at least a better/different dance break to finish it off.

JUSTICE FOR LIGHTSUM. You should react to their "its LIVE" live band performance, its so cool with that instrumentation
You know what PD, from just that first second intro I immediately familiar with this song progression
I knew it that PD's gonna love it
ever since the first time i listened to this song i always was reminded of Apink's Dumhdurum, which i absolutely love
I'm actually in love with this comeback ♥
It's a suuuper good comeback for Lightsum
God I was hoping you'd check this out and you did not disappoint PD.
i saw the similarities since they dropped the concept images it give me so much iz*one vibe
and then the mv dropped and it's like a remix of iz*one last three cbs together with different lyrics
that is not very creative obviously and everyone can see the similarities since they had a unique sound but i think it's a cube's strategy so they'll gain the people who liked iz*one sound and since they're gone lightsum will be the only the ones who will be doing it now
First 3 girls (Nayoung, Yujeong and Chowon in that order) who had lines were all on Produce 48. Nayoung is lead vocals and Chowon is main vocals.
Actually both Chowon and Nayoung are Main Vocals in this group. Juhyeon is the lead vocalist.
Cube should really upgrade Yujeong to lead vocalist considering how well she has done in Vivace. Probably all the members got to sing the whole song and they found Yujeong's vocals most suited to the lines she was given.
VIVACE reminded me of IZ'ONE as well
Ive taken the past few days to really get into lightsum and I really enjoy this group.
I've been waiting for this. Thanks PD!
IF AT ALL ANYONE HAS TO SAY,
Go on from producer or cube(this sound is not like copyrighted by Izone, there are videos with similar vibe of wjsn, lovelyz..);
GROUP doesn't have a SAY and they r newly debuted, so refrain from 'attacking' group.
The only thing missing is a high HIGH note
Yeah and it would be officially a panorama 2.0 ft. Fiesta
i think more of a powerful vocal not high note because the chorus is high enough and the song overall kinda more relaxed not super powerful
18:39 my thoughts exactly! something's missing on the bridge. Chowon (Jennie hair) could go crazy powerful on belting high note and i think they missed that opportunity there. Either Juhyeon (The great dancer how has an amazing vocals too) or Nayoung (The other main vocalist who u really like) could have sing the last chorus while Chowon doing the powerful highnote. either way. the song is great
PD Dream Note "Ghost" - really good hook!
fun fact to pd: 3 of the member is a part of pd48 :)
Glad to know that pd knows tri.be too!! Kinda sad that the video was blocked, i was really looking forward to his video.
This song is growing on me so much to the point that I'm obsessed with it now.
I was really disappointed with Vanilla but VIVACE has me positively hooked! I'm looking forward to their album and future activities too
They're getting better every comeback!
I was waiting for this!!!! Thank you PD 🥰
Check POPCORN and YOU, JAM By LIGHTSUM TOO!! LIGHT A WISH BOP
Btw Pd, 'vivace' means lively in italian, also energetic, vibrant or bright
Finally, I found a person who truly appreciate 'Vivace'. Thank you PD!
The producer of the song is the same with iz*one was, so the style is the same but they r not trying to be, i hope lightsum try new concept every comeback, not stick to one concept, cause in the future their discography will be unique if they try every concept, like their brother btob
Cube idol never stick with one concept.. every comeback they always change their concept.. that's cube idol
So happy I am this early ! Was curious what you would think of this comeback ^^
Both of the girls he points out are the main vocals, the one with the good expressions is the lead vocal. And probably the one who starts the bridge now. It shocks me that he doesnt know who Chowon is especially since he mention IZ*ONE so much-
Hello,
Thanks for the reaction, I suggest you to give a listen to their b-sides in this album too,
1)You, Jam
2)Popcorn :)
Yes... someone explained the first time I heard Vanilla. We think the same about Vanilla (just only fine). I like Vivace than Vanilla but then I want a song that can play in my head the first time I listen to it...something like that. I am following this group too because of Juhyeon because I watched her in UNI-T. And from then I am waiting for her to debut. Still looking forward to this group.
funfact and unironically, 3 members in Lightsum were actually on produce 48, Chowon, Nayoung, and Yujeong.
the 2 members you pointed out as the main and lead vocals are actually both main vocals !
Love this group so much! Never been to girl groups but I really like them ❤️
That's Chowon the girl with jennie's hair
I'm so glad I was not the only one that got reminded of IZONE when listening to VIVACE. I think CUBE and LIGHTSUM are very smart to go in this direction since this style has a void in the industry now that IZONE's over.
Chowon is definitely capable of more vocally and nayoung a little bit too, I wish they gave them more serious vocals especially in the end.
I think everyone who watched the video also got that Iz*One vibe from them.
The same song producer
@@sinambelamuhammadfahreza2722 Oh really? i think tenzo and WWWAVE produced vivace while iz*one's title track producer is 손영진 (Son Young Jin), 정구현 (Jeong Gu Hyun), Seo Ji Eum (서지음), Choi Hyun Joon (최현준) & 김승수 (Kim Seung Soo)
only tenzo and WWWAVE produced iz*one bsides songs if i'm not mistaken :)))
@@pippoyyap correct they only produce some izone b-side 😇
I really dig for coherent songs like this
when you said "whens the last time we heard that.....iz*one" PERIODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
yes! I really love this comeback!!! Good stuff in their future I hope!!!
BTW PD, Dreamnote just came back with a song called Ghost today! It's really good you should check it out
this song reminded me of izone's panorama at first listen. rooting for lightsum in the future!
17:27 Both of them are main vocalists 😁
this gives me izone vibes from the music video to the song
The same song producer
lightsum is two main vocal
The quality is pretty good other than cube all over the mv, literally you can see many cube lol
PANORAMAAAAAA!!!!! 🥲🥲🥲
Vocal, dances, camera presence of all the members, styling everything is so perfect. They are so pretty. Hina, Huiyeon and Yujeong my babies
Thank you guys
Watching to this reaction make me missing IZ*ONE more 🥲
Can't wait to see PD watch Produce48 in the future.
That’s so crazy you said that lol
this song gives me such iz*one vibes
Producer is same
i have now finished watching the vodeo...glad i'm not the only one that got these vibes
The same song producer
@@user-st6is9ml4x Oh really? i think tenzo and WWWAVE produced vivace while iz*one's title track producer is 손영진 (Son Young Jin), 정구현 (Jeong Gu Hyun), Seo Ji Eum (서지음), Choi Hyun Joon (최현준) & 김승수 (Kim Seung Soo)

i love vanilla so much but i wanted to wait for 1 comeback to stan
and boom vivace dropped, i love the prechorus and chorus so much, my bias is hina best girl (even tho im still learning the other members)
was Chowon originally a vocalist? I didn’t watch PD48 but I liked her being a rapper in Rumor, or she’s just good at being an all-rounder lel
PD's face lights up for good hahaha he ikes it for good
You know how we wish for some songs to tone the pitch down? Somehow this song suffered from being on the lower register(?) making the song somehow sound stagnant all throughout. It really needed that Explosive high note at the end or at least a better/different dance break to finish it off.
