Damn. I liked Gary, but now I have respect for his character. The way you portrayed him is probably how the writers would have wanted and never would I have thought of him this way. You sure have learned a lot with the hiatus you took; it sure was for the better.
And now Gary looks at Ash as his closest friend. I really loved how Gary tells him "best friends till the end" the last time we met him back in the Sinnoh series. Gonna wait for Gary to be back in the Journeys anime.
Great video. It was a little heartwarming for some reason, listening to you speak of Gary's journey. It reminds me that people are capable of great change if they work at it, and maybe, just maybe a tiny bit of hope that we can work at the parts of ourselves we aren't as proud of.
*EVEN before the change,* right from the first scene shown in anime, I felt that Gary was a genuinely good lad and that the arrogance was just a facade. He was never truly mean-intended in his teasing, he was like a big brother in this regard. So while Gary did drastically change his demeanour, in essence, he has continued to be a great lad. Also, from what I gather, this is how the author of the Pokémon meant it to be since Gary has a real-life prototype who is also, supposedly, a good person.
Bro these videos are always so thoughtful and profound and deep. I love them! I especially love the incorporation of Sadhguru in the videos. Very wise!! He reminds me of Guru Patik from ATLA.
I’ve seen people analyze Gary’s character and I’m amazed every time. For example, one explains his growth and how it’s usually at night. In Kanto, his appearances are in daytime or with light shining on him. In Johto, his character growth appears at nighttime. Even in Sinnoh, it’s sunrise or sunset. The posts I read explained it better and his relationship with Ash. I loved how yours focuses on his humility and how he’s a teacher and friend to Ash. I would love to see him in Journeys.
Not Important Person and Green from the Pokémon manga didn’t start out as a peace of shit. He was objective focus and didn’t take red seriously but that makes sense since green spent years in jhoto training under chuck before the series officially started. Red had to work to earn greens respect just as how green eventually did so likewise.
They are counter parts but one is a gym leader and one is a professor So I guess that is what happens when a trainer was either close to being a champion but failing or wanting to be a professor/gym leader Or maybe they end up being just high class Pokemon trainers
“If you keep looking down on everyone else, you’ll never be able to see your own weaknesses.” -Katsuki Bakugo Mha. I feel like this can be a applied to Gary’s character.
I’m not sure if I would completely blame Ash’s immaturity for his behavior during their battle after Orange League. Ash can be immature, but he was being rude to Gary during the battle because he expected the same treatment after years of being bullied. He continued to be suspicious for a while even though Gary continued being nice, which is still understandable. I love how eventually Ash grew to be more relaxed around Gary and accepted his kindness. If you watch all the episodes where Gary makes an appearance you can see how well they do this transition.

preciate it bro ❤
I always loved how Gary changed. He's grown much more than Ash. Though Ash being reset every region is not his fault, more the writer's.
But writer has changed after Diamond and Pearl.
Ash age is reset too but experience dont reset
He is always one of the best characters for me.
Gary is probably my favorite character from the anime.
Losing dose hurt but it makes a great way of learning to become a better person.

Finally, he is coming back
Gary is best rival Ash ever had, and without any doubt one of the best characters in anime >3

I really like this character breakdown. I hope to see more like these❤️

Best development ever

Same I also wanted his return badly.
He has also come in Pokemon Chronicles where he is researching about extinct pokemons.
@@stopreplyingme4532 Yeah
And it was day time too. Haha
@@PPOshipper101 Gary is finally returning
True I love is man
This was so deep
People say Gary and Blue are same but not.
Yea
Gary is a professor in training or maybe already a professor
And
Blue is a Gym leader

Yeah, I am 100 times better than Blue

Nice video, I totally love your explanation
I wonder when Gary is coming back
He is finally coming back
Amazing video!!! Looking forward to the results of this week's poll!!
Thank you so much for all videos you made. You are one of my absolutely best youtubers ever. :)
Jsi borec. Mám moc rád tvoji tvorbu.
Bro Gary is returning to the anime
Yeah, he is always the best character
I always wondered why Ash didn't get an Espeon as a foil to Gary's Umbreon.
That would have required a BIT of anime logic due to type matchups
Bro a new topic "ranking all ending episodes of each generation "
Your video is so well-thought out and beautifully said! I've always had the unpopular opinion of liking Gary for this reason.
Aka Character development
it is still a flaw.
Let’s be honest, watching arrogant Gary get his ass whooped by Giovanni’s mewtwo was satisfying.
I'm surprised their friendship now in journeys.
This was awesome

2:29 not completely he still had douchey moments
Cool!!!..
It's almost like that guy read the Bible
You said "Has Has" in the desc next to "Gary has has"
Gary is better than Ash.
Damm I want his Offspin searies.
Sería mejor en audio español

Wow the intro/outro on this charcter analysis 🤌
