They absolutely cannot charge you for things that you put in requests for and they failed to fix. You’re renting and it’s not your responsibility if it’s a major appliance.

Hey Adam, I hope you see this comment-- regarding your wet/mouldy clothes I would suggest trying a dry cleaners. I know it can be pricey, but maybe for the items that you really want to save it could be worth it. I used to work at a dry cleaners and I've seen a lot of mouldy stuff saved. I think as long as you get it in ASAP it's a possibility. You can always call around to different ones and let them know the situation, they will let you know what the options are. All the best with the rest of your packing

do NOT let them charge you for "damages/broken appliances".. as long as they broke and you have record of you reaching out to them to fix things its on them and you can threaten them with the proof they wont want to waste $ or time having to take it to claims/court - ive dealt with shitty apartment and businesses that have tried it and was able to prove no damages were from myself/already existed

We are having to go to court(I thought tomorrow) but it's the day afterWednesday. They even signed my husband's name on the contract..we just don't have proof they picked it up. Nor proof we said we wasn't paying for it if they refused to fix it.
We are going to be on the hook for 5 k to Aaron's. It was an XBox for our son to have a good Christmas. Both of us are disabled,I am terminal. Our incomes have caused us to drain all our savings and anything we owned of value. Rental companies charge an extreme amount to desperate ppl then penalize you if you say no..we can't afford this, come and get it. We never expected them to be so crooked they would say they never got..an XBox and a window unit AC. Our home is paid for..guess they thought we have money..no that was just all B4 a series of health problems, with medications ,and procedures our insurance wouldn't pay for but we had to have to have a chance to stay alive. We never thought this would happen to us.,..but it is.
Just make sure they give you paperwork for EVERYTHING,file it and never sign anything without reading ( though the contract doesn't have my husband's signature)
Just make sure everything is on point. We never thought they would take legal action..but they have. So Y'all plz be careful & cautious.⚠️
      ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️. ✌️♥️

I had another thought actually, if you leave it professionally cleaned and there's no damage caused by you, you should be entitled to your deposit back (the repairs are wear and tear they haven't addressed as people have said) all deposits are required to be in a deposit scheme by law and you can dispute anything via them as they are an impartial third party (if your deposit wasn't placed in the scheme it's illegal on the agencies part) I got money back this way. Hope you don't mind the advice but I thought this was worth mentioning x

I’ve had to deal with mold so much in the past few years. I absolutely hate it! So sorry this happened to you, but fear not, your clothes are salvageable. Wash them with your regular detergent along with a cup of borax, and 1 cup of white vinegar. At one point I had almost my entire wardrobe ravaged by mold and this literally saved my clothes. Hope it helps❣️

Give yourself some grace, Adam. You are dealing with a lot both online and in person right now. Moving is always stressful regardless of timing or reasoning. As for the mildew, what has helped me with clothing emergencies similar to this in the past is to rewash them with cold water and a bunch of white vinegar. It does not leave a vinegar smell, actually makes the clothes smell even fresher, and will help with the mildew. You just would need to do it relatively soon, that way you won’t have to throw out your clothes. Hoping he sees this or something similar to help alleviate some of the stress ❤

I think you will get more space in the vacuum bags if you fold the clothes before putting them in! It will also decrease wrinkles, and make the vacuum seal bag flatter rather than a chunk, so it'll be easier to store/transport to your new apartment.
Also, ParaNorman and Coraline are my favourite Halloween movies so I have no others to recommend, but I think you're really going to like ParaNorman and would love an update when you watch it!

Agree with folding the clothes before putting them in the bags , except - this is even easier than folding - “rolling” the clothes takes less effort and does a great job of keeping wrinkles at bay. Look up rolling clothes for packing suitcases / compression cubes to save space , there’s tons of UA-cam vids on the subject

Please, please fold the clothes before putting them in the space bags! They store so much easier if they are flat, plus you can probably get more in each bag. The clothes will also be in much better condition when you take them out of the bags later. I'm sorry about your other clothes. Don't feel too bad, this is a very stressful time for you and having bad moments will happen. You're doing fine even if it doesn't feel like it. ❤

I'm sorry your evening got spoiled when you found some of your clothing got moldy, you might want to consider if they have a public laundry mat where they have industrial washer and dryers to take your moldy wet clothes there and make sure to wash them with hot water. Between the hot water and the laundry soap it should kill the mold. This is only a suggestion if you have one close so that maybe washing and drying your clothes there will make it so your not feeling like your wasting so much time letting your clothes dry. Also if you have anything sticky on your walls like the stuff used for hanging pictures and stuff, if you go slow and use a blow dryer you should be able to remove anything that sticks to your dry wall without damage. Just might need to wipe the residue off afterwards. Hope this helps you even a lil bit, I understand how stressful moving can be. When my husband and I moved two states over from CA to WA it was the two of us, our corgi, and two chinchillas in a small moving truck together. Crossing my fingers you get your beautiful fur babies moving trip all set soon, they are your most precious beings so totally understand your stress. Your doing great though so don't let one little mistake that we all make overwhelm you. When it gets rough you got three fur babies to get all the snuggles you need til you feel better, we love seeing them and its obvious how much all three love you. Also there should be on record all the complaints you made for all the issues you've had with your apartment and the lack of people actually doing the maintenance to fix the issues so you should fight it if they try to make you pay for broken things that are not your fault.

You can salvage some things. rewash with real hot water. Soak them in baking soda before you wash. Just have the washer fill with hot, add a ton of baking soda. You can totally save a bunch. I 10000% wish I could be your cleaning buddy in this. You're running into a lot of the same things I've run into in stressful moves before and nothing sucks worse than being by yourself to just sit with the "Damn it" of the situation.
It'll be okay. You got this. Don't be afraid to call in assistance for like... errands. Doing errands with someone else is peak.

Adam, you should look into local housing laws. I’m in the US so your mileage may vary but it’s very possible that by not fixing things your building management has been in violation of the law. If your lease specified a working fridge and freezer, they broke your lease. If they didn’t fix door handles, they might be in violation of fire codes. If you told them when they occurred and they haven’t fixed it, that should fall under normal wear and tear or even failure to maintain your housing, so know your rights and don’t just accept charges!!

    Heya Adam-
So, I have an autoimmune thing that makes me extremely sensitive to mold, and also to synthetic fabrics
I really deeply relate to your sorrow regarding your clothes.
In this last year of combating it my partner and I have found that vinegar is truly the best for mold. A deep soak on high percentage cleaning vinegar before a hot hot wash could save some more things
I know what it is like to have to throw out most of my favourite clothes. My illness has only gotten this bad in the last year, so, most of my wardrobe had to go.
In fact, i'm still mostly bedbound and nekkid at all times right now for this reason. My parter and I are also trying to move for October, so, I just have a lot of parallels. I see you.
I'm sorry if that's oversharing... I just felt very deep empathy for you in all of that. I really hope you can save at least the most precious clothes.
    Sending strength ❤️‍🔥

Thanks for the story about the project you did on The Birds, Adam! It’s always nice to hear why someone did or didn’t watched a film you recommend. Birds don’t freak me out, but they did in that Hitchcock movie. I didn’t even know there was symbolism in that, I just remembered the scary bird attacks and suggested it. However, I’ve got a few more halloween films you may enjoy (not bird themed lol). Hopefully you find something to watch to take your mind off of everything!

    * The Strangers (2008) (This was a hard watch alone. I found it so so so scary.)
    * Buried (2010)

I can't believe you havent seen Hocus Pocus! You are gonna love the Sanderson Sisters! I'd also recommend Beetlejuice if you haven't seen it as well. Kinda crude and outdated humor at times but I still love it and Winona Ryder is inconic in it. Re the mouldy clothes - distilled white vinegar is your friend.
As a first attempt, simply add two cups of the ingredient to a full load of laundry after the washing machine has filled up with water. If the fabric permits, use hot water to wash the mouldy article of clothing. This should take care of mild cases of mould on clothes, however, if the stains do not come out, try pre-soaking the affected area with full-strength white vinegar for at least 20 minutes before washing it in the machine as mentioned above.
    Hope that helps

Oh sweetheart! Don't beat yourself up. You didn't know. You can't reproach yourself for something you didn't know. Also, much of life is making mistakes (because that's what we humans do). The MOST important part is learning from them. This is something you'll never do again. Life lessons suck big time but we never forget them.
You're so hard on yourself. You're a good person with empathy and an unwavering moral compass. Give yourself a break. Your fur babies live you so you have a good heart.
I don't know if this will help but when I get overwhelmed and stressed out and my anxiety goes supernova I pause, write down the things/people stressing me out and go through them one by one saying to myself, "is there anything i can do about this rn?" If the answer is no then it goes in the back burner. The ones that I CAN do something about I deal with one at time.
And when I forget to do this I don't berate myself. Those I do get right, I reward myself with some self care.
    Some Samhain movies:
    THE UNINVITED, 1944
    AN INSPECTOR CALLS
    THE PROPHECY, 1995
    THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY
    ARSENIC AND OLD LACE
    MONSTER HOUSE
    HARVEY
    HOUSE, 1985
    TREMORS (1 & 2 ONLY)
    NIGHT BREED
    GRABBERS
Some are schlocky, some are funny, some are spooky... all are pretty good IMHO
If no one told you today, you are enough. 💛

Hi Adam! I hope you and the pets are well! Just wanted to chip my 2p in about your clothes in the vacuum storage bags; if you fold your clothes and lay them flat in the bags (and also maybe include a couple less clothes), the bags will be suctioned much flatter and will be much easier to pack away (they'll look more like slabs than bulky, awkwardly shapen bags, yk?).
I really don't mean to be shady or rude or anything! My mother used to vac. seal our clothes when we went on holiday for sometimes two weeks and we'd fit 4 or 5 vac. bags (literally EVERYONE'S clothes) in 1 medium sized suitcase and it was a LIFESAVER. They do get quite heavy, but they save so much storage.

Adam life doesn't come with instructions...dont be so hard on yourself...find the positive...you can double check what you really want to keep.....ive had to move so many times in my life not always because I wanted to...things work out...moving is stressful...with animals is stressful....im a mom with the clothes that are really moldy...soak them with some soap first maybe use a litte scrub brush or rub the material together to get it off...this is definitely fixable ❤...tomorrow is a new day...if its so hot are u allowed to hang the clothes on the balcony to dry? They will dry faster...

Aww Adam 😟 The heat could also have made them worse. Don't blame yourself plz 😕
I know it's easier for ppl to say they are only clothes and can be replaced, BUT as you said some are from places you've visited and the memories you may have created in them will be hard to replace. On a happier note you now you get to buy new clothes and make so many awesome new memories 😊
You have so much on your plate with your upcoming move, and I really hope that the little hicups that everyone experiences with moving doesn't discourage you. ❤You are doing a fabulous job staying motivated to get everything done !!🙂👍🤙💪

I feel like you're too hard on yourself the last wee while with regard to your emotions. You're going through a huge change and doing it all on your own, for the most part. Stress has been high and you've had a lot to take on in real life, not to mention all the stress that can and does come with running your channel and streaming etc. Moving in and of itself is a mountain of stress, but then considering this is you leaving a place where you have so many formative memories - it makes total sense that you're having bouts of feeling overly emotional. It's not dramatic, it's valid af. ESPECIALLY when you're already saying goodbye to so much, losing a chunk of your wardrobe to an oversight/something that could have been avoided is so understandable. But I hope you'll be kind to yourself because we've all had to learn these lessons the hard way at some point. It's an unfortunate, but ubiquitous fact of life and growing up.
Regarding your clothing, it's good that you're trying to rewash them, because mildew can be sorted often with just another cycle through and thorough drying out. The worst of the pieces may also be saved after a few washes, but even if the worst can't be, I'm sure you can save most. It's so frustrating when you're already stressed and something like this goes wrong and I'm sorry you're having to sort it on your own. To disinfect the mould from the clothing, you can use white vinegar. Spray or soak the pieces for like half an hour and then rewash them. Another option is to make a sort of paste with lemon juice and salt to rub on the mould, let it sit for a bit, and rewash it. You can also use baking soda and it can help with both staining and killing spores. If you're using water for the soaking, make it hot rather than cold. If it's still sunny and not raining, try to lay the clothing out in the sun to dry and let it get lots of air before you pack them. You might have to do that multiple times to sort it out.
Now it might not be something you can manage for the worst pieces among the other shit you have to do, but if you feel particularly attached to a piece that got ruined, leave it out on the balcony to dry and then put it in a plastic bag that you can seal (to keep it from affecting the other clothes) and bring it to Manchester with you to sort when you get the time. Either way, just know that we've all been there with washing at one point of another. For me, it was the odd bleach fuck up or the random red item dying my feckin white clothes T3T

i suppose it isn't really a halloween movie, but i watched Spirited Away last year on halloween and had a blast with it 🥺it is also one of my favorite movies anyway, but it does also have some pretty creepy imagery and some scares and stuff! if you're looking for horror, maybe this'd be something more to ease in the halloweeny-autumn vibe :)
(it might even be scarier than im recalling but i will see during my own annual rewatch of it. much love adam !)

a suggestion for the cloths are you can take them to the dry cleaners or for some of the clothes that the smell is still lingering you can soak them in vinegar and run them through the wash and that usually takes care of the smell💕

PLEASE be kind to your self!! Things happen and even though it's a moment of disappointment for you. You're feelings are valid but don't beat yourself up. If you need to take a break from UA-cam for a bit so you can focus on yourself and prepare for the move we will all understand. ❤ The season American Horror Story Lady Gaga is in (Hotel) is my absolute favorite!! You definitely need to check it out! I also wanted to let you know that I was attacked by seagulls at Ocean City. They are Vicious little devils!! I have to say found it slightly comforting to know they are crazy everywhere. Thanks for always being real and Try not to stress to much❤❤

Awww! Kind of sad about you getting rid of your cardboard cut-out gang, but I'm someone who gets attached to things and loves to collect stuff, lol. So, yeah, throwing them out seems more logical 😅 . But glad Wendy and Miley get to go to Manchester, lol.
Anyway, don't be too hard on yourself, Adam. As usual, your feelings are 100% valid. But mistakes happen. Getting overwhelmed while packing to move I'm sure is just a normal thing, as well. That definitely happened to me before I moved, but I had help from family and friends. You are doing it all by yourself which is COMPLETELY admirable. You ARE a beast, baby 😂 !! You'll get through it all and have such a wonderful new chapter in your new home ❤❤❤.
Halloween movie suggestions: -Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2 (The sequel isn't quite as good, but still a fun watch)
-ParaNorman (If you haven't watched it, lol...)
-The Halloween Tree (A bit more obscure cartoon from the early '90s)
-It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (My all-time fave! Just SO adorable!)

I really wish I'd commented when I saw you taking the clothes off the drying rack still damp and tossing them into the boxes. Even remotely damp fabrics will always go mouldy when they're not perfectly spread out and able to dry properly. It's such a shame so many of your clothes have been ruined, I hope you can reverse the damage. At least you know now, try not to beat yourself up 🙏

I would make a list of what needs to be accomplished in each room between now and when you move. While I’m not saying you have ADHD, I know from personal experience how overwhelming accomplishing tasks get when I have a lot to get done. What I learned in ADHD coaching was selecting 3-5 tasks I want to accomplish each day would help with feeling overwhelmed. One idea would be further breaking down the tasks that have to get done prior to moving day by day so it doesn’t feel as overwhelming.

2:35 not sure about landlord tenant law in UK, but I have done my fair bit of research regarding Canadian Laws recently because of an issue my sister is experiencing. I would challenge anything you can... you've already gotten your reference letter so that's good. Anything that could be considered "normal wear and tear" here isn't chargeable under our law- it must be done by neglect in order to be considered the fault of the tenant.
Also, in the future please protect yourself and document any issues in your apartments by keeping correspondence relating to them by email only, that way there is a dated paper trail! You don't seem super concerned about these potential charges, so I'm imagining there isn't anything super crazy- however sole landlords are horrible and will take you for everything if you allow it- just be careful and protect yourself. Please!

at the very least, having to throw away some clothes could be a blessing in disguise - i don’t mean this in an insensitive way at all because i know how sentimental these kinds of things can be but maybe it happened so that you have less to travel and manage on top of all of your other stresses & now maybe you can revamp your closet! i’m really sorry that happened coming from someone who can’t bear to part with my stuff but i hope it all works out & i’m wishing you luck! 🩷

Memories are still there and places you traveled to get the stuff will always be able to be visited again - I know that’s so obvious and lame to point out… but you’re doing amazing! So remind yourself those lame little hiccups along the way, are just inconvenient little bitches lol you’re doing so much all on your own for this move. Remember to recognize everything going well and know you’re handling things amazingly :)

Adam, do not pay for their crappy appliances and shoddy construction. It's not your fault the fridge is broken. I'm sorry, door knobs are not supposed to just fall off; that, again, is not your fault! I recommend getting a small can of off white paint and a tiny paintbrush and just touching up the paint that has scraped off the wall. Painting the entire place will take a lot longer. I've made the same mistake with the damp clothes. When you are in a rush things happen. Do you not have a donation place for some of the things you are throwing away? Some charities come and collect the items at your house. Good luck and remember to keep breathing!!! I love that happy face flower sweater, btw, and was sad to see it go.
