When you find out his mother died of chronic alcohol abuse when he was very young, followed by his father being a chronic drug addict who committed suicide, you can see why he wrote this song. It is a miracle that he is even alive, sober, and so normal. Amazing and tragic, but a good story for Ryan as a person as far as personal success.
I know what you mean, but "so normal" feels like an insult, almost. What's normal.. It's not about as much "personal success" as it is of surviving. Sometimes people say "you did well considering how fucked up your father was" to be - doing well despite of having an abusive alcoholic father. I hate that. I did well cause i had to. I had to prove everyone wrong. It's not "personal success", it's survival.
It's always sad to see parents or people close to you go no matter how but I don't think it's a miracle for their children to make it through. I look up to people who've seen close ones go through that, and choose to do better. Those people are smart as hell. And seem to be very strong willed.
I was married to a professional studio singer/musician for over 10 years. I've been around the world's greatest AND THIS GUYS ONE OF EM. ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE SOMEONE SUCCEED.
Been one of my favorites for years. Hes been around alot longer than anybody thinks. He used to work rodeo when he got discovered, amazing songs. I waited a few years to watch yellowstone and was stoked to see him on here
Didn't even know he was on Yellowstone...was a great surprise. As soon as he first showed up walking out of the jail I jumped out of my recliner.. Great musician that hits the heart strings.
Best show on tv! Love this guy! He didn’t take no crap! He stood his ground. Almost got him killed! He’s gone, but I have a feeling not for long! He has a beautiful voice!
I'm a black British woman and I have to say, when I first heard this song on Yellowstone - I've only just started watching that, I was captivated. What a beautiful song.. I felt it really deeply. Now where do I start listening to this type of music lol It's funny because there were a lot of songs on Nashville that touched me too. I love it 🥰
Been a fan since I saw him on Austin City limits, that was an awesome concert from his younger years. I was rooting for him to make it big, I'm proud that he did
yeah, i've been a fan since about 2011, watching yellowstone and here he pops up on there, caught me by surprise, awesome they put him in there, one of my favorite characters on there now, let's hope he survives Rip
Dude!!!! I love your voice! & style of music! The raspiness mixed with the way it comes out & your vibrato it’s just beautiful! It really sooth the soul ❤️ you don’t hear real music that you feel these days... only by a few.
Seen him open a concert for Allen Jackson and I have to say this MAN stoled the show...on Wednesday night I will be tuned for Yellowstone I LOVE THE SHOW
This is a very powerful balad, nice things and up bringings and do not define a person. To equate this balad as anything more than what it stirs in your own heart, is an in justice to the artist, the balad and to the people who love this song in their own respective ways.
Remember watching him come out and slay a guitar at a Cross Canadian concert in Whitney, TX. Rained it's ass off right afterwards. Still remember the beat up raggedy Miller lite shirt he had on and making Cody Canada look like a chump on guitar. First time I'd seen that happen, or even close. Captain Guitar.
That scene was so cool when Loyd gave Walker a Waterloo WL-S Deluxe to replace his old guitar that he smashed up leading to that epic fight. (FYI, the Waterloo WL-S Deluxe guitar is a replica of a 1920s Oscar Schmidt-Stella 12-fret, slot-head parlor guitar, with a current value of over $4k.) It's a real old-timey style instrument, very 'cowboy'; and it sounds amazing, as do all Waterloo guitars, handmade by Collings of Austin TX. And in this clip Ryan is playing another Waterloo, the all-black nitro lacquered WL-14, based on a 1930s Gibson style 14-fret L-00. I guess Ryan must like Waterloo guitars! I currently own two, and certainly wouldn't mind another one... ;)
I'm not sure who picks the music for this show, but they deserve an oscar themselves. They've brought Ryan Bingham, Zach Bryan, i think they had some Childers in there, i believe some Sturgill, and a perfect circle.... what a great sense of musical talent
First time heard this song 😢knew im only in for a battle for lifes privileges but the true battle is believing in options that you have as a person . amazing ryn love ya bruv😊
i was in Whitefish, my hometown, on this day when I was asked for a stump. Yes, a stump. Im a wood man, and "They" planned on using a stump for Ryan recording this song. I guess they never used it, but this is 100% the song they recorded, and i can see our ski resort in the background. I feel like I participated in something that never happened.
Well looks like Walker *is* karma.... I'm wondering if he is going to go to market equities with the information he has about Dutton ranch???? Maybe??????
I always rooted for Walker from very early on, I don’t know why but their was something about his character I liked and was relieved when they didn’t kill him.
Funny because Ryan is one of the few REAL cowboys on the show. Everyone loves Rip, but in real life, Rip, aka Cole Hauser’s dad was an actor and his mom is a Warner…Warner Bros, ever heard of them? He was basically a spoiled rich kid where Ryan grew up with alcohol and drug addicted parents who drank themselves to death and committed suicide. Everyone obsesses over Rip but dislikes Walker. Just shows you that TV is not reality!
Love this Ryan Bingham ❤️ Amazing stuff I could listen to ya strum that guitar all damn day an night . Come get me Cowboy let's ride off into the sunset with the Wolves At Bay 🎵❤️🎵🙌❤️
Ryan is a great singer and his Character Walker is great, he is lost trying to figure where to go, but he know he doesn’t want to go back to prison, great job Ryan!
Tell you one thing and I’m sure that ever woman in America says this too. I would love a man like this. I don’t say I would give anything because that is a lie. But a sweet man that loves to sing. Man this man gets my soul. It take everything in me to to hitchhike and move back to Texas from scratch.

Loved Ryan since his early days as an artist and am truly excited to see him branch out and get into acting in Yellowstone. Love this show. Addicted!!

I felt that he didn’t take crap ... not “no crap,” because he was given crap. He was branded but abandoned his “family;” great voice though!
