For every cool design choice made on a guitar, an aspect of that guitar's ergonomics takes a hit. That being said EB basses will always neckdive to some extent. The strap button being situated at the heel of the neck doesn't help much either. It's your choice in the end though. People have said rickenbacker 4003s have pretty shit playing feel but some, especially those who can shell out money for them, still play them anyway.
I love flats. But with those pickups I think you'd have fewer character options, unless that was the intent to make one phat mudbucker tone - which certainly has specific use! Rounds and tone knob with amp's EQ would probably best options. JMHO
Maybe if you buy 2 of these...but my main axe has to have rounds...esp a bass like this. It's muddier than my SG Bass, which may appeal to more bassists than the old EB3's because of the versatility. With a pick you can get some treble out of it. Don't get me wrong...It's def NOT a J-Bass, LOL.
Sounds gorgeous, looks gorgeous, short scale, perfect for me 🥰
Great review as always. I could really see this working very well in a reggae setting.

The obvious ? is...How does it compare to the Gibby EB3, SG3, and Epi EB0?

There is no Gibson SG3. There is the SG Standard
compared to a gibson eb/sg bass neck....depth at 1st fret and 12th fret, thinner or fatter? can u measure it?
Sounds great

Does this bass have any neck dive when played standing up?

Talks like he's never seen the 3 point "tuneomatic" bridge which is on millions of basses!
This bass really needs some flatwounds.

I like pressurewound/rollerwound/groundwound/halfround/whatever you call them, for a good blend of old school tones & playability
The newer ones have another bridge type, more like Fender.
