Although I was originally able to fix the basic Flowclear swimming pool filter pump that came with my Bestway Steel Pro Max above ground swimming pool, the impeller had degraded so much that I had to buy a new Bestway sand filter pool pump. This video shows how I set up the Bestway Flowclear 800-gallon sand filter pump (model 58516E). I was able to buy it from Amazon for under $90, which is a real steal! This is very similar to the Krystal Clear Intex and Coleman pumps and they can be used interchangeably with all of these brand pools (sometimes need an adapter, though). In this video, I show how to set it up, installation instructions, how to backwash the sand filter, and I also go over each of the sand filter pump settings so you should be able to get yours going as well!

This base sand filter pump comes standard with many different "pop up" style pool kits. It also comes labeled as Intex pool pumps and with some Coleman brand pools. It's good for about 1 or 2 years, and then the impeller and rotor keys will eventually degrade because they made from cheap plastic. I couldn't find a replacement impeller online specifically for that filter pump, so I opted for a new Flowclear sand filter because my Dad and a friend both recommended them, and it is VERY CHEAP! Plus, it completely eliminates the need to buy expensive replacement paper filters because it doesn't use them! It just uses a natural circulation through sand to filter out impurities.

Question what can I do if I’m not feeling the suction for the ports B as shown in your video at 12:05 time I did everything you shown and it’s helped a lot I’m trying to restore my pool for the summer me and my wife have been working hard on it shocking it putting the right chemicals I’ve skimmed it and vaccines many times but it’s still all the way clear.

Did you ever try 3d printing an impeller? I know reverse engineering can be a little tricky.

Good question: I did think initially think that-- I have Fusion360 and an Ender 3D printer, but then I thought, "Let's make a Sand Filter set up video instead!" 😂

What setting do you use when you are vacuuming out algae?

I don't usually change the setting when I'm vacuuming algae as it doesn't usually drop lower than the intake hose ports.

What if the pressure is 0.2?

It's possible that you have something that is loose that isn't allowing it to come up to a higher pressure. Maybe try tightening some of the fittings, or screwing the top part down a little bit more so the gasket can seal better.

Did you get this problem fixed? I’m having the same problem…..everything seems right but my pressure won’t get on 0.2.
