For being not so much of a mechanic you just saved me about 1000 bucks buddy! Thanks for this post man perfect video to get the job done at home without spending a fortune
@jaeshea4638 glad this helped you! If you ever run into clutch master/slave cylinder issues I've a fully how to on that as well on this channel. Please consider a super thanks they are always appreciated.
Thank you!!! I followed this step by step and you made it possible for me to do this myself. I would have never tried to do this alone but watching your tutorial video made it so much easier. Thanks again!😊 (I just bought a 2007 MK5 2.5 only only a few days ago and learned the very next day that I had a fuel leak while I was filling up for the first time. Gas was pouring from the bottom of the car. I was so disappointed bc on top of that I need a new air compressor now, which I also discovered this after buying it. Otherwise the car drives great and I love it.) Your exhaust sounded really good when you cranked it up! What do you have on there?
Glad the video helped! My AC compressor also went out this year. I haven't replaced it yet. Exhaust is from techtronics tuning. It was a dual borla exhaust, but I had one of the mufflers from the straight pipe eliminated. Please consider subbing to my channel if you haven't already and thank you for watching and commenting!
Omg! I've been having this problem since I got the car, only in the summer! I'm replacing the fuel pump today because I was at my wits end trying to figure it out 😅
@@camogirl1389 yikes rough position to be in with that issue. The last time I was in Tennessee driving through mountains it was enough for me to say that it was time to get this fixed myself.
@@dinkinaroundwithdillin4296 I'm not sure I am understanding your question. Are you asking if it took longer to start the motor when it was hot outside? Or are you saying the starter would be louder (as in cranking sound) when it is hot outside? I don't recall any starting abnormalities. I do recall when it was really really hot I, if I tried to start the vehicle from a stall, I would have to constantly flutter the gas to keep pressure up so it wouldn't stall again during idle. Stalling during idle was another issue I had.
@@HavingFunRepairs sorry yes longer crank times before actually starting. My daughter’s car cranks excessively before starting when hot and then flutters up and down in rpms for a minute.
@@dinkinaroundwithdillin4296 it might be related. Hard starts can be fuel pressure related, air intake related, or voltage related (battery starting to go out or bad starter or alternator). Typically it's the battery needing replacement when my Jetta was hard to start.
@@HavingFunRepairs Thanks. I have a 2012 with same engine that I bought used. I have had computer issues early on. I have had an issue of the engine cutting out for the past few years and I had assumed it was computer related. I'm thinking it may still be - or also just the fuel pump. Did you diagnose the pump before you decided to replace it and if so, what was the method?
@@Golgi-Gyges I had tried other cheaper things until I came across a forum discussion specific to this topic. The fuel pump is a common issue for the lag mode where you can't excellerate beyoned 2-3K rpm. And my car would also cut out every time I came to a stop. In the forum itself the mechanics provided a diagnostic of the fuel pressure having instantaneous drops as their proof.
@@Golgi-Gyges sorry was out and about with my family, our inlaws are in town, so my replies were not that thorough. Best of wishes to you and definitely the fuel pump solved my issue. I bought a replacement from AutoZone. I think i had also replaced the knock sensors and crank shaft position sensor, but neither resolved my issue until I did the fuel pump. Please consider subbing to my channel if you haven't already. Understandably not all my videos are vehicle related.

Yeyyyy me and my fiancé did this together and it worked like a charm you are the best thank you !!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happy to hear that it helped!
I love the way it sounds, what modifications did you do to your exhaust system? Thanks for the video!
@@TlawilRamos it was a dual borla exhaust system. I eventually deleted one of the borla mufflers.

Thank you for this tutorial! I have 2005 Mk5 Jetta 2.5 and this definitely cam in handy. By the way what radio did you replace the OEM radio with?
Glad it helped. Replaced the radio with a Sony XAV 601BT.

Hopefully this resolves your problem as well. Feel free to follow up in the comments and let us all know.
@HavingFunRepairs I will! I drive over a mountain pass twice daily, and as soon as I start the uphill on my return trip, I lose pressure.

Did you have any issues with excessive cranking to start when the car was hot?

So was the fuel pump the only source of the fuel related issue?
Yes, the fuel pump was what caused the car to go into limp/lag mode when it was incredibly hot outside.
