Repairing odd things around the house and for customers. Maybe things to share and others to learn. Maybe I'll learn too. I do not claim to be an expert, but I do have over 20 years experience repairing electronics used in radio frequency applications. At most I hope you find this channel entertaining.

Hi, I have a Klipsch KSW-10 subwoofer, the transformer is out of order. I can't find a new one to replace it. Do you have a transformer for KSW10 or KSW12? or a reference to order a new one? thanks
@@satanasfouduvolant9228 unfortunately I do not. A lot of transformers are pretty much designed for the switch mode power supply (SMPS) that they are used in. So unless you can find another bad SMPS with the same design in which to cannibalize the part, you might not be able to find a transformer elsewhere.
@ Thank you for your reply. I thought I could repair this subwoofer. Unfortunately it will end up in the trash...
@@satanasfouduvolant9228 save your woofer/speaker. That alone is worth keeping in case you have one that ever goes bad.
Not to be rude, but I'm not entirely sure you did anything? There was still that 1kHz wave imposed on the output. I have a low hum coming from the same unit and was looking at options to fix it. I'm not really convinced the caps were the issue. Perhaps if you have a scope trace of the output before the "repair" and the 1kHz output wave is significantly attenuated after I'd be more inclined to believe that is the issue.
@@jvandervyver it's apparent you didn't watch the entire video. I gave an explanation why at the beginning about intermittent issues. The DMM checks proved bad capacitors in the power supply. The clean 1khz tone at the end confirmed a clean tone. My customer paid and was very happy with the result. If you cannot accept the knowledge I've passed along for free, what took me college and over 20+ years of experience to develop, then sir... The loss is on you. 🤷♂️

Thank you so much for making this video and thoroughly explaining each step. I have the exact same dryer (purchased new in October 2020). I only used it about 1-2 per week but stupidly put extremely wet pillows in to dry and it messed up my dryer 😩 . After the pillow incident, my dryer stopped heating up and it takes 2-4, 2hr cycles to get my laundry dry. Also, after the pillow incident the vent on the inside of the drum looks rusted not white like it was before the incident. Can that inside vent be replaced? If so, do you know the part number or name? And in regards to my dryer not heating up, I am wondering if I blew the heating element or thermal fuse. Before I call a technician I wanted to ask you and see if you could give any advice. I’m a single mama in California and I don’t trust appliance repair guys as I have had bad experiences in the past. Any insight from you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
@@JessicaVanek-u5f it's very possible that you can replace that part. Go to this link www.partselect.com/Models/MED6230HC1/?srsltid=AfmBOopLDxK9blJryy26FK6c2C6_xSgXtTZiRSsx9-DACHqoJy9cy1bG If you're the same model as mine, you can use the illustrated figures to find your part and purchase a replacement. As for your issue with the dryer not heating up. That could be the heating element or a thermal fuse, or even a thermal sensor. They should all be replaceable too. As for which, I wouldn't know without troubleshooting it with a multimeter.
Thank you so much for your reply and input. I am going to try and troubleshoot first and then proceed with calling a repair man. Fingers crossed it’s not a huge fix and it’ll get repaired. Thank you again!
Mine won't turn on...left the batteries inside the device maybe flr about 4 years. Today I found it open the batteries cover and there was like fluid on the batteries. I cleaned it all tried with some nee batteries and nothing tried with cable and the same as well. Do you think it can be fixed?

Hi, I just stumbled across your channel. I’m a hobbyist and I’ve decided I’d like to do repairs on some of these older car amplifiers. Is there a site where I might find schematics for some of these amps?

Nice repair! It's a shame the original drivers were blown, they looked to be of nice quality, it's ironic that an "Impulse" of some kind was probably what killed them! I hope the algorithm picks up your channel soon, you deserve more views than you're getting.
@@harrysmbdgs thank you for the kind words. I try and do this mostly for my enjoyment. It's by no means a full time job. Nor do I think I would allow it to become one.

@@danielrivas6358 if it's the same issue as the TCL in the video, no a new cable will not work. The issue is not with the cable at all. The issue is with the display panel. I do have the same headset while replacing the 4 pole 3.5mm auxiliary pin, I could find 5wires one colour is yellow insulated wire with copper wounding above and 4 other insulated wires with plain colours of Grey, White, Blue and Red, how to match with tip, ring, ring, sleeve (I don’t find except a hole) and strain relief clamp in TRRS plug insulation points.
I do not know the TRRS to Wire color match either. If I still had the handset I would be of better help. That being said I do know that the 4 pile 3.5mm aux plug follows the following layout from tip to sleeve. T-Left Channel Audio R-Right Channel Audio R-Ground S-Mic Audio I would assume white and red are left and right audio. Blue is possibly mic audio and grey for ground. If you have something that produces a tone you could inject that signal at a low amplitude on the wires to determine the left and right speaker audio. From there it would just be figuring out the mic and ground wires. Good luck and thanks for watching.
@@HavingFunRepairs thanks for detailed information, do you have some suggestion for the yellow coloured wire.
@@YouImmanuel sorry I do not. Maybe trial and error to figure out. If you do figure it out feel free to share with the rest of us and I will pin your comment to the top of this video.
I used to like Sundown until I saw that they shaved the part numbers off of their components so it’s harder to fix as a consumer. What greedy thing to do.
With a lot of manufacturers, even if there is a part number, they often change the part # to something inhouse or generic to obfuscate as well. Both are terrible practices.
Why don’t you just buy a new LCD connector?
@@BrownSteel749 because the problem is not with the LCD connector. The problem is with the panel itself. I'm only blocking signals to make the panel half functional.
@@HavingFunRepairs Oh, what typically causes this to happen. The same thing happened to my tv and when I tried unplugging the connectors the screen was cut in half but it was still the blueish black. If it really is the LCD panel its not worth to try to repair I might as well just by a new tv.
Correct, not worth repairing as you would need a new panel which is around the cost of one of these TVs anyways. What causes this failure (IMO) is a heat dissipation issue.

@TravisPittman7 I definitely missed seeing that nut. Good catch! Pinning your comment so it can help others.
please someone help me 😭 the screen is black, and i don’t know what’s the problem or if i should change the screen
@@anacantu553 check the screen connectors, reseat them if needed. If that doesn't fix, replace the screen.
Klipsch will send you a brand replacement under warranty.
@@dvspot I'm perfectly aware of this and I think I mentioned that the owner was getting a replacement. Just to be clear the intent of this video is to help individuals understand what they are buying based upon component composition and engineering. Especially given the cost of the product and how much money is being sunk from a consumer level with a technical perspective. But hey, if you are okay with sending back a 1600SW broken and getting a 1600SW replacement (which I believe will also break until they've made a few revisions to the boards) then that's up to you.
@HavingFunRepairs Klipsch will send you a replacement plate amplifier. There is no need to return the defective amplifier to them.
I think you may still not be understanding the intent of this video. But thank you for your comment.
Calibration requires that the 0 adjustment be on "0", not on full scale left. That may be why you could not get the cal to go full scale.
I misread what you typed initially and thought you were suggesting to cal full deflection (left side towards zero). You are correct sir. Zero must be set at 0 and not full left of scale. Good catch and thank you!
Is that green coolant?
@@Zeus0886 you should run the European coolant with the correct additives. I only had the generic 50/50 blend on hand.
14:09 at the top left where the ribbon cable is there is a white "connector" is this a fan header? My denon has a problem with overheating, did not tear it down atm and try to find infos , thought about repasting it and maybe buy some more small heatsinks but a fan would be the most ideal solution i think.
@@dotnetapp I do not recall a fan header. That being said, overheating is an indicator of other more serious issues. Such as, not enough airflow around the receiver (too close to other objects or in an enclosed space) or components that are beginning to fail. I would be investigating the thermal compound between components and heatsinks and replacing it with fresh thermal compound. I would be looking for bulging capacitors that might need to be replaced as they become a current hog. All an additional fan and heatsinks will do is mask a more significant issue. All that being said, the amplifier is yours to do what you feel is best.
@@HavingFunRepairs First thanks for this real nice answer :). It started pretty randomly, even when i put it outside a shelf so it stands freely :/. The thing is im not a electrician iam not capable of switching a capacitor myself, i can repaste it as i build all my pc myself but thats it of things i can possibly do :P, Another idea i had was buying some passive heatsink with thermalglue and put it on some of the chips and if the white thing is not a fan header to put somehow a fan inside connected through usb or connected directly to the wall.
Feel free to let us all know how it goes if you try those things out.
My dryer screeches sometimes but still works, what should I look out for during repair?
The belt and possibly the wheel bearings. Those would be the most common cause if I had to guess. This would at least be where I would start inspecting and replacing parts.
