i unironically used genshin as a reference for my hairdresser of what i wanted, thanks chongyun, this is one of my favorite haircuts ever!! (i may also have a slight addiction to it and spend money on this game but we don’t talk about that 😅)
Seeing Genshin Impact and Project Sekai (in pixiv), I felt pretty overwhelmed in a good way about it as I can recognize the characters.

I actually do this sometimes. As an artist, I tend to observe things a lot and study how they're structured so I can draw them even without looking at a reference. I'm weak when it comes to anime anatomy so sometimes when I play genshin, I study the characters in different angles

No idea why, but when I read “don’t work to work” my brain played the song “The Shcuyler sisters”
This actually did help me with my art tho. Before I started playing I was basically just copying other peoples styles but I wanted to draw more anime but I didn’t know how, I started playing bc my friend recommended it to me and I started drawing some characters, some of my best are Klee and albedo drawings but it seriously did help me 😁
Somehow this did work for me, since I started playing (like over a year ago) I drew so much fanart I kinda naturally got better (and I looked at a lot more fanart too)
Seriously though, as an anime artist I sometimes use Genshin Impact to see how characters look at different angles and my art has improved quite a bit

As a person who draws a lot of fanart, the genshin character archive is a blessing. You just have to open the game to get top quality reference photos. I wish getting high quality reference photos for other fictional characters was that easy.

See playing genshin is just a part of my daily life, and so is drawing, so I was shocked to know that some people didn't realize how good it was to help with art, lol.
The second book you threw onto the pile I have that it’s really helpful
Although not free, owning anime figures really helped me to better understand the angles of anime characters in a 3D form much better!

What's also a good bonus is that you can do poses and study the folding and flowing of clothing!
This is what I do too, I was making a childe fanart but I couldn't draw hairs so I took reference from in-game childe for the head and hairs specially mask and it turned out to help me a lot

Oooh it would be even perfect if you're trying to draw fight scenes or ideas on how to draw weapons or learn how to animate by observing the animation of each characters!
I have also used that idea so I know from experience that It's good for studying anime art.
Each character has an amazing design and it's in 3d so it's even better
I always use the characters as models, so I can study. It’s a very useful method!

I love Genshin Impact, I have just started a few months ago but I don't play it often. But I still love it!
This is actually true, after I played genshin, although I'm not always playing, my drawings got better over time.
I've been addicted to drawing a bunch of the Splatoon manga characters in the almanac and from experience I can say that making a "skeleton" sketch over the official art helps wonders
I already have Genshin impact but I barely play it but this is actually a good tip. As an artist with an anime-like art style, thanks man.
Sounds similiar to when I wanted to draw my character with a crossbow and I looked up a 3D model of a crossbow so it would be easier to understand how a crossbow would look like, also it was easy to get a perspective that would match with the rest of the art, especially that I wasn't overcomplicating it much. For the first time drawing a crossbow it turned out quite decent. References are op lol
it’s also really good cause you can take the characters to different lighting like to a dark forest which is so good for practising art

Ngl, this is how I do it. I started playing Genshin at launch and been making lots of Genshin fanarts since then. I like to stare at my characters and just spin them around to study the references. It's funny but it works so I still do it.

Can confirm this does help, everytime they make a new character is study them, the funniest ones to do are the ones that have part of their face covered dainsleif (pretty sure I spelt that wrong), kaeya, fischl etc.
Also pausing and saving the images of each panel to study if you don’t wanna play the game or you want the picture to be of a higher quality. I do this with my beloved! His face is hard to draw! 😊
