    Another even cheaper and easier alternate is using a face mask (preferably a dust mask with a stiffer shape) to smooth out your features. It wont give you the best look and this video is a great super cheap option but if you're in a time crunch i definitely recommend :)

    Nicely done as always. I appreciate the tip about heating before shaping. Are there any differences we need to account for when applying contact cement to WTF vs how it’s normally done on traditional EVA foam (I.e. apply thin layer, wait until slightly tacky, then press together)?

    • @CosplayApprentice
      @CosplayApprentice  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks!!!! The heating to glue together is the biggest tip by far. I haven't tested it at length but I think doing two thin coats of contact cement may help as well. Same rules otherwise, apply thin layer, wait till it doesn't come off on your finger and press together. After I line up the seams and press together I like to press them together extra hard to try and get as tight of bond as possible. :). Hopefully that all made sense :)

    I'm so bummed out. I have the day off so planned on making this for my new spidey suit, ready for a twitch stream on the weekend; but the craft place I went to didn't have EVA foam or anything close (and there doesn't seem to be any in the city either), so i've had to buy this really flexible thinner foam sheets that probably won't hold shape, and no time to get a quick online order delivered :( I'm thinking making I can get away with doing it with the card and tape, then add a layer of the foam (2.5mm) over it to smooth it out? Wish me luck lol

    I’m still confused with how you stuck the two halves together, when I first did it, mine were curving away from each other and I couldn’t get it to work, even with a heat gun

    • @CosplayApprentice
      @CosplayApprentice  Рік тому

      You’ll want to make sure your cuts that you’ll be gluing together are as straight/square as possible. Then I find that one you put the glue on the edges of both sides, if you heat up the foam, both sides of each piece of foam and then stick it together while it’s hot then it will take its shape better as you stick it together. The pieces will want to pull away from each other because we are adding a curve into them as it is gluing together. So just start at one end of the seam and stick little sections of it together as you work your way up the seam. Hope that helps a little, it’s hard to explain it in only words :)

    can i adjust the shape of the eyes?

    • @CosplayApprentice
      @CosplayApprentice  3 роки тому +2

      Yes! If you get the pattern and have questions about how to adjust the eyes let me know but you can just cut the paper pattern out and then tape the seams together and then just tape paper across where the eye was and the cut draw whatever eye shape you want or just cut the seam line back open an draw and cut out your eyes once you have the foam glued together. :)
