Raymond Massey from Pearl demonstrates the ePro Powered by Export drum set at Kraft Music.
The best selling drumset of all time paired with one of the most innovative concepts to come to the drum industry... meet Pearl's ePro Powered by Export drum sets. Export series drums have been a launch pad for many successful drummers due to their high value and build quality, a reputation that has been proven over time. Pearl has stepped up their game with their latest Export kits, offering Reference-level inspired shell composition, lugs designed to minimize their interaction with the shells, and Opti-Loc mounting system for maximum sustain, resonance, and wobble-free performance.
Now paired with an ePro Tru Trac Pack, turning your acoustic Export kit into a full electronic drum set is as easy as changing the heads. Tru Trac heads are the same size as your shells and mimic the response of your real heads, ensuring your electric kit not only looks like an acoustic set - it feels like an acoustic set. With 100 predesigned high-definition kits and space for 1000 high-definition sounds, the included r.e.d.box module gives you a virtual showroom of countless combinations of drum sets in one package, something drummers of the past could only dream of.
Pearl ePro Powered by Export drum sets are available in your choice of two shell configurations -- "standard" (725) and "fusion" (725S) -- and two different finish materials -- lacquer (EPEXL) and high-gloss wrap covering (EPEXX).
    Standard / Lacquer: 22" kick; 12", 13", 16" toms; 14" snare
    Standard / Wrap: 22" kick; 12", 13", 16" toms; 14" snare
    Fusion / Lacquer: 22" kick; 10", 12", 16" toms; 14" snare
    Fusion / Wrap: 22" kick; 10", 12", 16" toms; 14" snare

Did anyone ever end up receiving the V2 update link recently?

Neat idea, but how loud is it compared to the kit with acoustic heads on? I mean, do the shells still resonate?

Is it possible to save all my custom kits to a backup folder in my computer? I read the manual but it sounds like they mean the RBM-20 saves the kits within its own memory. I'm going to try and see but I wonder if anyone happens to know or has actually transferred the custom kits files to there computer for safe keeping.
I must say that I'm having trouble getting the REDBOX RBM-20 to take the latest firmware V2 sys file update! I was able to install the Default Sound Set sys file so I know I can do it right, (plus, the DM-10 Pro Kit modules has the identical update procedure and I was able to get it to take the Alesis firmware update file using the same steps as given in the RBM-20 manual).
I have Windows 7 64 bit O/S installed in both of my desktops and neither could install the RBM-20's V2 update. After each attempt to install the V2 firmware V2 sys file, (by dragging it and/or using "Open" from the "File" drop-down list, the RBM-20 LCD panel very briefly shows “Updating, Please wait, Checksum Error”.
I've requested help from Pearl and opened a Help Request ticket last week. Someone was supposed to send me a version of the Firmware V2 update that apparently is suppose to work but that's been about a week ago. The Labor Day weekend is slowing things down, I'm sure.
If anyone has a REDBOX RBM-20 Firmware V2 Update sys file that they think will work in Windows 7, perhaps you can direct me to it? The E-Kit I have is an Alesis Surge Mesh, or at least, that's how it started off. I've since added a second kick base, 4th Tom, and 16" ride. The SM's module handled all that, (I had to get 'tricky' with the cables to make the dual bass work), but there are things about the REDBOX that I like better than the Surge Mesh's module.
In particular is the Hi Hat capability of the RBM-20. It's definitely far better than the Surge Mesh's Hi Hat configurations. There's a few other very good points about the RBM-20 but without that firmware update, I'm afraid that the downside of the RBM module is going to force me to get rid of it.
Among some of the 'bad points' regarding the RBM with its present V1 O/S, is the fact that you lose all your panel slider settings the instant you change kits or turn off the unit. That's a pain in the butt because I like to change my kits often as I practice. I have at least 10 customized kits created so far and each time I start the unit, (or change from one to the other), I have to go through these sliders and find the proper levels for that selection.
Another point that the V2 update addresses is the overly sensitive response of the drum rim voices. Some of them will trigger at the slightest vibration from a strike on the drum head. There are several other important fixes that the V2 firmware addresses and for me, they are definitely important and need to be fixed.
That V2 addresses all those and in cases where the V2 firmware doesn't entirely abolish the anomaly, it at least reduces the issue to something that I could live with. I'm switching back to the Surge Mesh Module until I can get an answer from Pearl on this. Hopefully, they'll get back to me soon.
    Thanks for the video,
    Rich

Is the snare 3 zoned where you can play the snare, rim shot, and side stick? If not, what's the best way around that? Thanks!

Jamie SEA velocity switching using layer a and b. Softer hits trigger rim clicks harder hits trigger rimshots easy to program because you are given 2layers per input.

You wouldn't want too. The sounds from that pearl mod are pure junk compared to the Roland.
