      I mean it isn't like Ding is a slouch. I think Hikaru gets so many props for his speed chess but it's really his match play in general that is great. Even matches against Magnus in slower time controls, who Hikaru historically has a rough time against in tournament play, he gives him a run for his money with nobody thinking he can't win.

  • @Electronite1978
    @Electronite1978 3 роки тому +26

    Ding is certainly a bit underrated and might even win candidates in the future. He has put down players like Magnus and Hikaru positionally and at his best is a really formidable player. Ding certainly had better positions in this match and showed stronger positional play than Hikaru. In my opinion he played better chess but was unable to capitalize and Hikaru simply is the speed demon and ultimate defender. I say this while I hoped Hikaru would win.

      I believe it would be a great improvement if the board displayed to hundreds of thousands of us on UA-cam (either LIVE or during REPLAY) didn't have the commentator's Mouse Arrow and Mouse Hand buzzing like a bee all over the board. Is there a way to allow the potential piece movement arrows to get displayed, without showing the audience the _hovering_ mouse? It is the jittering of this constant hovering that is most annoying, and not the actual annotated arrows and move analysis. Otherwise, excellent coverage! - j q t -

    Prodigies aren't born they are made. Anyone can work hard and become good at anything including chess. You may not become a GM but you can get good. Or if you have great training from a very early age and all the right resources maybe you can be one of the best. The Curry brothers in the basketball, the Williams sisters in tennis, the Polgar sisters in chess... it's nurture > nature and a lot of hard work and a genuine love of the thing they are being steered towards doing from a young age.

      Yea, I never really liked how Armageddon works.
      Plus, only a 1 minute deficit for draw odds? I honestly dont think thats worth. Ive never seen anybody choose white in Armageddon. Draw odds are just far too strong.
      Maybe if white got a 2 minute advantage. But 1 minute and first turn advantage is just NOT worth giving up draw odds.

    I am not surprised that Ding put up a good fight. I am surprised that this match lasted to the very last Armageddon. I expected someone to win before that. Fantastic match. A highlight of 2021. The slowdown of the Armageddon was strange. A bit of time whiplash. But I guess it had to end somehow.

    Ding Liren is a monster in his own right; the fact that Hikaru is as good as he is and still Magnus is considered an even bigger monster borders on being stupid to even think as possible. Close to what we think of as inhuman but sociopaths with hobbies remain unbelievable I guess

    • @JoeARedHawk275
      @JoeARedHawk275 3 роки тому

      Actually the difference between them isn’t that far off in blitz and bullet. I would argue Hikaru could possibly be equal with time increment if he didn’t have a psychological disadvantage against Magnus. However we see his disadvantage reflected in his score against Magnus. However, in online blitz, without any increment at all, I think Hikaru is better. It’s the feeling I get after playing chess for some time now. Danya also thinks Hikaru is better than Magnus without any increment as well. However, Magnus is a monster because he’s the undisputed champ in longer formats and is arguably the best in faster time controls, which I personally disagree with, but the fact that he’s even considered the best in all time formats is a feat no other chess player can currently do.

      Dude he wont multiple rapid+blitz wcc
      He even managed to adopt Alireza in bullet 1+0(which Hikaru said Imposible)
      Yet people still think Magnus is weak in bullet?
      Most people think Hikaru is stronger in bullet
      U watch the video when Hikaru awared of Magnus adopted Alireza in bullet?
      His face really shocked,like he thought it's impossible
