I wanted you to know how helpful your Boss RC-30 videos are to me. I have one of these myself (and also a TC Electronic Ditto looper) and although I can do basic looping and overdubs, the real use of two channels came clear to me while watching one of your videos. I used to think I needed some sort of drum backing capability but was disappointed by the RC's selection. Your use of simple, self made rhythm backing such as finger snaps and rhythmic vocal sounds has given me a new appreciation for a minimalist approach to loop building. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the superb comment, it's really good to hear that my videos have helped you. You are right, you can use simple loops and build them up on top of each other to create something great. I always start with something really basic and just build it up from there. You are also right about the backing rhythms on these machines, I would rather use my own simple finger click than use the pre programmed drums. Again thanks for the comment.
I love your video's. Started watching them several months ago when I first purchased my RC-30. Have you ever watched a KT Tunstall video? She has a very nice version of "I want you back" using a looper that you may enjoy.
Hi, thanks for coming back to see more of my videos. Its funny you should mention the KT Tunstall loop pedal cover of 'I want you back' as its her that made me want to get into looping after seeing the video on you tube. I then saw Ed Sheeran using the same loop pedal and then I knew I needed this loop pedal. Good find though, if you come across any more people I should know about please do let me know and as always thanks for watching and commenting, its always appreciated.
This is awesome, your videos are amacing ^^. I am thinking about get a Boss RC-30, and you use it in your videos and are great, so i guess i'll subscribe :D. Have you ever use that loop pedal for make a live concert?
Hi. I have not used the loop pedal for live concerts yet. I have got plans to do this in the future though but I need to learn more songs. I have seen people like Ed Sheeran and Katie Tunstall use this loop pedal live and they make it sound brilliant. Thanks for the comment and subscribing.
That was sick man, great show of what this loop pedal is capable of doing under the right control/mastery. I see most comments and responses were a while back so I hope this question gets to you! Most people have claimed the only way this pedal really works for live looping is if u Tap Tempo it, otherwise there is a semi-delay between the loop stop/start. My question is yours sounds perfectly in time, so was it tap tempo'd into the rc-30 already or does it just take more of a mastery in timing. I would love to hear a response from you cuz you seem very well educated on this pedal. Thanks for the great tutorial video!
Damon Waite Hi, Sorry for the late reply. This is one of my least popular videos for some reason so the comments are quite old on it. You did hear right about the semi-delay on the pedal, except this issue was fixed a long time ago with a firmware update. I never had to do the update as my pedal already had in on from new so if you buy it new you wouldn't have to bother. I can assure you there is zero delay on this pedal now, if there was I would not be able to use it myself as i like my loops to be perfect, which is hard enough to achieve without a delay. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching.
ReelfunkyProductions No problem on the late reply, just happy to have gotten one! And especially with the good news u brough, definitely gonna be picking up this pedal in the near future now. Thanks a lot for the videos and of course the response. Guess I gotta study ur videos the best I can before I get it so I'll at least have a decent grasp of all the things u can do with it. Thanks again a lot!
So can you do 2 different loops? Like a verse chord progression & a chorus chord progression? Or is it only layers of the same loop? If so, can you do the verse and chorus in real time?
Sort of yes. You can't actually get it to jump from one track to another, what you have is two tracks that can be running at the same time, or you can mute one of them and then bring it back in later. You can mute either track at any time so to get a verse, chorus sort of thing going on you need to use a bit of imagination but it is possible. I have not yet managed to create a loop pedal song that contains a verse, chorus and a bridge section but I am working on that. I am thinking that the undo feature may be useful for this somehow.
Its actually a Zoom recorder which I used as a mixer and for the reverb FX, I have no idea what model number as its actually not mine, I borrowed it off my girlfriends daughter (cheaper than buying my own). I did look up the Boss BR recorder though and I can confirm they look like the same sort of machine, I imagine the Boss BR will be better though.
Actually, I have a Korg D1200MKII languishing in my closet...I was thinking of using it not only as a mixer, but as a "hey, that is a really great loop!" capture device...
Just bought an RC30 a few days ago - thanks heaps, you've saved me a lot of hassle - love the song as well.

Hey! how many instruments can you plug into the station?
love this! xx

Btw, are you using a Boss BR series recorder as a mixer here?
