Mary Guerra made the most amazing beans and tortillas. One of her specialties was sweet tamales. They were pink and had soaked raisins in them. Just started watching your channel and I love it! it brings back memories to the time when I moved to California in 1966 and my best friend was Mexican. We were both 8 years old. When we would come home from school his Lita would be there to feed us. (and keep us in line! lol) It was my introduction to the Mexican culture and I loved it! The family values that are displayed are amazing! My grandma was the same way. Raymond got to eat german food for the first time! Great memories! Im hooked!

Tell me about it. I lost my mom in 2006 and miss her cooking. I would be taking these amazing dishes to work and my friends would be like tell your mom to stop spoiling you. I would be like, it pays to live at home.
John Sloan yes, definitely. The friend that said my mom needed to stop spoiling me also said, write down her recipes because she will be gone one day, and I did. I loved to sit and listen to her stories of frowning up. I wrote some down but lament that I didn’t write more.
I never met my grand parents. My mom’s mom passed when my mom was 2. She was raised by her father who passed when my mom was 14, and her grandmother. My grandfather became my hero, though we never got to meet, just from the stories my mom would tell. A sister in law was like, your brother never heard those stories, I wonder why. The bitch made me mad. I said he was never around. None of my brothers were. These stories came out of conversations I had with my mom. They could have spent time with her also, they just chose not to.

I lvoe that you show all the details in your videos instead of just editing the actual process out to make the videos shorter. Seeing you actually complete the process and give advice through the whole thing is like learning from a family member like you do in real life and it actually gives me the confidence to get in the kitchen and make the stuff instead of just watching the video and never attempting. Plus you always show things that can go wrong and give advice on how to manage common mistakes or things that just happen. I have made probably 20+ of your recipes and they never let me down!
I love Mexico and I love this channel. After traveling throughout Mexico for years, meeting the nicest people on the planet and eating the best food ever, It's addictive and I can't get enough! i am white but grew up with a Mexican family that taught me how to cook. there are certian things i refuse to eat like toung and brains and the soft meatish pieces in manouto soup i know its not spelled correctly. but fry the tripe and ill eat it. I love making tamales and my own flour and corn tortillas. I also make my own pasta stuffed and regular. So far it's 54 pounds all together. When I started the cucumber water I weighed 200 pounds, today I weigh 146 pounds and in a size 10 from a 2 & 3X . I feel GREAT. Those girls know what they're doing.

Growing up the food was always ready by the time I got home from school so I never really get to learn, and didn’t really care for it, but when I was gonna get married my parents would tell me what I would feed my husband. Thankfully we have you tube now, and I have learned a lot and made up my own receipes. Everyone now loves my cooking and I enjoy doing it.

Some soups and stews are more delicious the next day, I love eating them when there's leftovers. Growing up in a large family of eight kids,a single mom, it was rare to have leftovers. Mom struggled being a waitress all our lives, and then she'd go home and cook. The older kids had to help with home chores, so it wouldn't be hard for mom when she got home.
