As an old bastard, I remember the nights watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I was only 6 or 7 years old. Music at that point was basically doo wop 50's stuff. The songs were built around vocals and harmonies. So when the Beatles came out on the Ed Sullivan show and started playing "She Loves You", the world changed. And I'm not overstating this. They shot 50's music in the head, kicked it into a grave, and poured dirt over it in two minutes and 18 seconds. Fundamentally, this kind of music didn't exist. They merged the rock of Chuck Berry and Little Richard with the vocals of the Everly Brothers. They wrote songs so catchy, that at one point, 5 of the top 10 songs on the charts were Beatles tunes. The Beatles burned bright and the Beatles burned fast. In 100 years, people will still be listening to them. I'm very happy to see them still being celebrated today.
Great find, very impressive. Nice to see a younger gen knowing the great music of the time and the collectables out there. Oh love the hot wheels and other mini cars and such. I've got a few tv shows and movie ones
You remind me of a guy I knew when I was a freshman at Kent State University, in Ohio. HE LOVED THE BEATLES. My roommate and I would humor him by allowing him to ramble on and on about THE BEATLES. The other guys on the floor thought he was weird. What I didn't understand at the time was he was passionate. Later, he ended up teaching a class about the Beatles at the university and I'm certain that it didn't stop there. As an aside, I realized later that I had slowly become unintentionally unindoctrinated in knowing the most minuscule trivia about the Beatles from him coming to our dorm room and "rambling." Please don't construe anything I said as a criticism-quite the opposite. I appreciate your passion. Carry on.
Hey there Sam ! Your channel is a late discovery for me but I've been binging all your videos and loving your channel, especially all your overseas singles. Looking forward to more from you. All the best mate from a new subscriber here in Australia! Some trivia for you: the Aussie cover for _Beatles For Sale_ you showed in a video, - that was because of a strange ruling here that didn't allow picture negatives to be used when supplied from overseas. So they had to take photographs of original covers from the UK and use those. Problem was some didn't show up very well and were rejected, too dark. In those cases, new covers were designed here & that's why the Aussie cover is different. They also did it for _Meet E Beatles_ , so check that out as well, it's bizarre man ! Cheers Sam :)
I had to see this as I pick up rare and semi rare records that are not in record stores ! Congrats on securing this great record for your collection ! JT
Storage is an issue although I did buy lots of white units. But I moved house in July and that was a nightmare, and nerve-wracking! @@jtsrecordroom3963
I just found out about these compressed versions about 3 weeks ago after reading a post in a Beatles Facebook group regarding the label misspellings. After someone commented about the matrix numbers, I decided to so some additional research online. I finally got around to checking my numbered White Album 2 weeks ago and found that I had the label misspellings on record 1 but not on record 2. I then checked the matrix numbers--side 1 ended with A-1, side 2 with A-3, side 3 with J-67, and side 4 with J-65. It's an LA pressing with the serial number of A 3050019. So I was half lucky with my find, and I've had it in my possession for nearly 40 years!
I live in Scranton, never knew bout this.. gonna start hunting Found buncha rare Scranton pressings over the years for $1 esp Capital Tower label (PF piper gates Mono & stereos, Chocolate Watchbands etc...)
Go Samuel! So crazy you went there had the knowledge on what this rarity is. So smart to have that research in yer brain because otherwise you would have looked at the cover and just passed on it. My heart would have exploded! Great find you deserve it…it is history.
Great to see a collector of such a band. Collecting The Beatles is joyous. The wonderful thing about the first UK pressings is the gloss laminate. it certainly protected it (to a degree) over the years.
Hello Sam - came across your channel as I went down the rabbit hole of other vinyl collectors' channels on the Tube, and great stuff you are putting out there! I've been a vinyl collector for many years, and The Beatles are the perfect springboard for so many other musical discoveries. It's all about having fun while collecting regardless of the format, and coming across some surprises along the journey as well. Kudos!
When I got mine (I was 9 early in 1980. ) it was my favorite because of the huge poster inside with the photos and lyrics. I am no longer dating the girl that threw her soda all over my beatles albums from over 40 years ago.
Wow incredibly well done young man on getting one of the ultimate rare Beatles albums & yes the sleeve is pretty beat up but the albums will clan up well & even in its present condition its easily worth between 1000-2000 dollars!! Be on the lookout for another period cover & what you will have will be priceless 👌
those first albums sold fast to Beatle fans. at the time I saw a few copies with printing on the front and was hearing a lot of the album on the radio and at a friend's house so didn't really get around to buying one until the cover changed. and no longer had the impressed title. only a collector would value inferior sound, so my waiting around worked out . first I have known about the inferior pressing.
I believe Capital never destroyed the vinyl that was produced with the compressed lacquers. In order to appease George, they set them aside and then placed them in later production covers. They're out there. I've personally seen one in mint condition. One more thing, the deadwax numbers are 1-33 or less than 34.
In 1981 thjey released a limited edition on white vinyl, and it was on special offer, cheaper than the black vinyl, so like a fool I bought it. Realised my mistake when I got home - the white album is patchy, you have to skip the odd track, but on white vinyl you cant easily see the gaps between tracks. Fortunately, I acquired a girlfriend with her own copy soon after, so we always played hers. Forty years later, I still have the album in unplayed condition, but everyone still used it to roll joints on, so the cover has the obligatory hashish burns. Apparently its also very rare, and very useless, unless you need to skin up.
@@DimitrisDr3am Not on early pressings. If you think there are then you've never seen an original pressing. Why do I have to answer to such a dumb statement? Every Beatles collector and their dog knows this. Go find a shop and ask to see a copy and stop being a clueless pest.

My colleague showed us his copy number 8,3xx in a factory in South London in the 1980's but he wouldn't let anyone hold it. He only brought it in because we didn't believe he had it. (G.S. Where are you now?)
I have a copy of the White Album in very good shape that was released on white vinyl. I never looked into it and doubt it's worth anything. I just think it's kind of cool.
When he said "we have to go deeper into the deadwax" I knew he was the rightful owner of this album 🤣 great to see it owned by someone who truly appreciates it
I'm not sure why these issues are referred to as a different mix. It's the mastering that is different, and mastering can radically alter the sound of an album. I see you got The Beatles Hot Wheels series.

It's more for the rarity and the story behind the record for me. I have better sounding white albums in my collection so this is just a collectable and an artifact for me. Valid question though
I think since we don't know how many are out there and the sound quality isn't that good the value is still kinda up in the air until we find out more information about this record
The conditions of the sleeves and vinyl have a lot to do with the value of the records Yours looks in pretty bad condition so the value would be in the lower range
@@samoset4_beatlesvinyl644 In this case I'd say no because-as damaged as the cover is-the stamped number is visible. It may not go for as much as an early pressing in better shape but you have found a nice collectible. You also have a keen sense of how hyperbolic' people can become over collectibles. There are more 'butcher covers' out there in one state or another because Capitol were cheap buggers.
The Beatles are by far the most overrated band of all time. If they had been born 30 years later, they would basically be Nickelback. Both bands had plenty of hits, and both were decent but mediocre musicians. The Beatles had zero competition when they arrived in the 60s, compared to the many talented bands by the 2000s. You can't see track gaps because there never were any. Look at any early pressing and that's what you'll find.
