This is the best EV that I have seen, much better than the best EV that is available for customers as the tesla, because it recharges itself with the generator
loving your video's, great to see a London cabbie paying a visit at the manufacturers and asking the questions, learned alot about the levc txe .thanks
Brilliant show love it. Last I heard London cabs were made in China. 32:38 British technology at it’s best, “a bit of string”. Even more brilliant. Bit of a shame that non of the motors in the back ground at 42:00 on, were electric powered.
3:50 what does it matter if its fully electrically driven if after the claimed 80 mile range it requires an internal combustion engine generator to charge up the battery.
Mark quick question that you as an owner of one of these new taxi, around the 30th minute in the video you guys are looking at the accessibility of the vehicle, the door is wide open and you can see the door lock mechanism on the left side sticking out a bit, has that ever caught someone's leg or bag etc entering the cab? A very minor thing I know but was just curious as I thought about it when watching the video
@@Markstaxidiaries thanks, yeah I watched another video of making the taxi and it looked a lot less sticking out. Keep up the great videos, I almost bought a 10 plate taxi yesterday but was sold by time I got a reply. Watch a lot of your videos, and Tom's, the one where you both review a hackney together is a definite favourite
I believe security companies are using these electric taxis to transport dignitaries. These are built like tanks and if in trouble are massive, heavy and are beasts.
Informative however I was hopeing for a more detailed tour of the factory and the stations of assembly. Is there another company producing London Cabs that run on diesel out there or did this factory go green. Hate to see the price of one, can we call it a boxy Prius?
Many thanks for watching! The last diesel if I remember came off the old production line in 2017 they are alas no more. Currently they are selling for around the 70,000 mark. Not cheap but they are a business tool.
The Shuttle could be the basis for a SUV, sliding rear doors and the rear VN5 doors. Which would mean that the rear seats could be moved forwards. The dividing screen removed and a passenger seat in the front. No doubt there will be a longer chassis van with the option of a campervan.
30kw battery’s we’re being fitted to vehicles in 2011. Now 80kw is common. This is what becomes of a monopoly, zero incentive to progress the range, but plenty to progress the price.
a passenger variant of the LEVC VN5 AWD + 0.5 in. Lift 68.3 kWh iSMARTPower® 4-Dr Compact e-MPV (RHD) would be something . . . it'd be a 6-seater with multi adjustable actual Nappa leather captain seats & trim as well . . . a hybrid variant of the LEVC TX 4WD + 0.5 in. Lift 68.3 kWh iSMARTPower® 5-Dr Compact e-Hatchback (RHD) is very much needed . . . powered by a 1.4 Biturbo I4 and a 34.0 kWh HYBRId® system, mated to a 8-speed auto transmission . . . in pure electric mode it'll have a range of 43 kms - 56 kms . . .
Where did they come up with £40 day fuel cost for roughly 120 miles. My car can do 47mpg which can be beaten by other diesels. It costs roughly £16 to £22.
Meanwhile the opposition are using kia Nero 35k instead of 70k and over 200 miles range, yesterday my mate got 48 miles out of his TXe cause its cold, absolutely pathetic plus all the problems their having with erad going wrong , nightmare them having a monopoly, trade desperately needs another vehicle choice.
For those not aware of EV stats, 62 miles WLTP out of a 31 kWh battery is pathetic. A typical fully electric SUV gets about 330 miles WLTP out of a 67 kWh battery. Part of that could be explained by this thing having a face like a brick and being optimised for city driving, but still...
Since the driver is the only front passenger ,The LEVC should have used a drivers tip up seat for luggage storage, placed the driver in the centre ,in the front of vehicle , because electrics have no need of a central division to make room for a gearbox ,And produce one vehicle for world production , And a better balance vehicle all made in one factory ,no need for left hand and right hand drive🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙉🙈🙊
Am i missing something ? I thought they put a stop to the 'Door' opening like a 'Fairway' due to a person falling out on the way to Heathrow... Have they gone back on that rule, and now allowed the different door opening to say a TX4 ??? Whats going on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These vehicles are far from 'net zero' in there production of parts. Batteries from china!!and parts all imported and assembled in 'eco friendly' factory!
The wheelchair assembly is a nightmare 10 seconds ? definitely not! You must assemble the 4 studded strap studs on the floor and buckle fasteners first along with a harness suspended from the rear cabin ceiling fitting , Its a complete nonsense of a set up and with a wheelchair user facing forwards there is no head or back support that the TX4 has while the wheelchair is facing backwards Its a pity the video does not actually show the full wheelchair set up with a person in the chair . The assembly takes twice as long as the old TX4 and twice as long to revert back with all the added straps and buckles it could easily be improved for the driver and passenger in the wheelchair You have to go down on your hands and knees to tighten up the belts to secure the chair in place and while turning the chair forwards often the straps on the floor obstruct the manoeuvre of the chair into place
This Vehicle Like all the vehicles from, Mann & Overton are overpriced and not a lot of thought in the Design This vehicle if your lucky Does 60 miles to the charge not hybrid which is self charging which makes more sense and unlike most Electric vehicles that Does 300 mile to the Charge you have always have to be under warranty in this Vehicle as the battery alone costs £20 .000 to replace the E Rad about £16.000 compared to Toyota prius which is about £25.000 and a superior vehicle

As usual Mark a brilliant informative video well done Mate
Great video, in-depth look of how this iconic vehicle is designed and built.

Yes left hand drive available

Can be bought for private user?
Yep! LEVC Would be more than happy to sell you one

I’m not sure will take a look
Really, they went full EV? That’s hysterical. Poetic justice.
How long will lithium ion batteries will be available we could run out of LI
Not very likely this Century.

Why don’t they have a separate battery on an alternator that runs the heating and electric

It's not a monopoly when you're building a factory for 5000 taxis, its a charity. I doubt Geely is making a penny off this.
