- From Season 8 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episodes 7 and 8: The Light in the Forest which originally aired on November 12th and 19th, 1961. This 1958 theatrical release starring Fess Parker, James MacArthur and Carol Lynley is the story of a white teenage kidnapped by Indians and later torn between the two cultures. This presentation is the theatrical version, not the individual episodes that aired on The Wonderful World of Color. The titles of those two episodes were, "Return of the True Son" and "True Son's Revenge."
It's too bad you don't have the introductions for the episodes of the anthology version of the movie. It doesn't seem like the kind of story Disney would normally tell, so it would be interesting how they presented it for an early 60s audience.
I know!!! I wish I had them at the time I posted this! However, I’m working on a project to post more Walt Disney lead-ins and I may be able to finally track these down!
In the 1950's Walt did several stories like this (many are on this channel already) and several have been quietly banned by Disney post Roy Jr Disney. What I know about this film is it's last official release was on VHS and LD in the 90's but it was never released to DVD except for excerpts on a historical one. They will never release this now because of the story about the boy being torn between being raised by indians or born white. I think it's a great story for these times though. Another thing I know about this is it's based on a book by the author of Bambi and it used to be required reading in American schools. This film is buried deeper in the Disney vault than Song of the South.
@@keepingwaltindisney You're doing a great job! I was involved in the Save Disney campaign of almost 20 years ago and I'm sure Roy would appreciate you keeping his family's legacy alive that Iger has buried deep. It was his family name and history and he really cared. Iger even admit the Treasures content would never be released today and regrets it ever was. You've posted a lot of stuff I thought I'd never see again and I check in daily. I've been spreading the word to my friends about your page and they've been checking it out too. I especially love you've posted all the remaining American heritage serials. That stuff will never get an lease now.
Do you have any intros he shot for Treasure Island? I've seen very little from Walt on that film and have always wondered what he had to say about it.
I meant to mention, another film that Disney has quietly withdrawn is Westward Ho the Wagons. It used to be a club only title but it's one of the few that's gone OOP.
90😮😂😮😮😂hh?
Those have to be be the most unconvincing "Indians" I have ever seen !
Haven't seen this in decades. Currently rereading the book, which ends far differently and far less hopefully. Certainly no Shenandoah in that version.
Wow, I'm going on 60, and we read this book in school back in the 70s, but I never knew there was a movie until today.
Think, I saw this movie. But my comment were hide😅
this is the best and so realistic
Never seen this Disney pic! Love it for the Hearing impaired!👍👌🤞✌️🙌🙏🇺🇸✝️💜💟🌟🤩🌅🌄🌞🌻🦃

is there more to this ?
If you like this then you will like Daniel Boone
No, unfortunately, it was a theatrical release.
I'm so glad that hate-filled Wilsey Owens got his comeuppance! BTW - I really love that dance music starting at 47:33. I wouldn't mind having that on a playlist.
