    This is great information! I am on day one of the setup and I have installed 2 raspberry pi units in cases, burned an image onto a micro sd card, and started the configuration. This video is very helpful as the openwebrx info is a bit spotty. I have been using a Kiwi receiver for years as well as Ubuntu, but the pi is new. I have several dongles and sdr receivers and am very eager to get them on the net. Thanks for your video!

    Thanks for this video. Just searched for some info on openwebrx and this video is quite helpful. One thing I am still looking for is if there are keyboard short cuts in openwebrx for tuning. I know I can drag to a frequency and finetune when I put the cursor on the frequency but hope there is another way like using the scroll wheel

    I have this software running nicely on a Pi4 with RSP1A. Problem I'm seeing is that when user #2 changes from say 20m to 40m, this also changes the band from 20 to 40 on my screen. Shouldn't two users be able to operate on different bands?

      @@TechMindsOfficial Been playing with the on the Pi for a couple of days now and some general observations that may help others. I had a problem with very choppy audio when running a Pi 3B+ and RSPDuo. Tried all sorts of settings in OpenWebRX and also thought it may be the WIFI connection. Did a few hours of troubleshooting and found it to be the power supply. I was running the Pi on a power bank battery as I wanted to run this remote for contesting and turns out the power required is higher than what I've experienced on the Pi before and it was not getting enough power. Moved the Pi to a 2.5A mains power supply and issue solved. I know you should be running at good 2.5 amps but got away with less up until now. Will have to investigate a good DC to DC converter for running the Pi on 12vDC for possible remote ops. Waterfall is a bit fiddly to get usable but will continue to investigate this. Whilst not as flexible as running a KiwiSDR it is more than usable if you set up the profiles for your type of listening. This is a keeper, thanks again.

    • @powernumpty
      @powernumpty 3 роки тому +1

      At the remote location you can set up the OpenwebRX and then "port forward" on the router to allow remote access (consider network security, don't do that on a sensitive network). If the public IP address changes use a Dynamic DNS service (E.G. noip.com) many routers have a DDNS client built in, just set up an account then enter those details in the router.

    First of all, thank you for great videos! I am running OpenWebRX on Raspberry Pi 3B+ I use RTL-SDR v3 dongle connected to my Diamond X-300 antenna. OpenWebRX is great but I can only tune to frequency ranges 437.600 - 440.000 for 70cm and 144.000 - 146.000 for 2m band. Is it possible to go to any frequency (For example 137.000 MHz) as my dongle provides just like I can in other applications such as GQRX, SDRSharp, or SDRConsole? Thank you..

It is configured using the remote and remote_driver options on the device level, where remote should be the hostname or IP address of the machine runnine SoapyRemote, and remote_driver is the driver to be used for the remotely connected SDR. All other options should work pretty much as expected." It can be usefull for those who use docker or virtual machine. A RPI 0 with WIFI or RPI with POE and go you are in IP "MODE" this is more simple than playing with the usb if you use docker container. The soapy solution is not build in order to remotly controle openwebrx system but in order to controle one or most SDR dongle that could be on your roof, on a mountain far away of your RPI where Openwebrx is implemented. Some where with a beter "sight" in my case i am in valley and have 2 hills who close the sight on south and north i am in a radio shadow zone ... if i encapsulate the soapy in a vpn i can virtualy put some tinny modul on the mountain and have 360° sight and redirect data flux to my home with wifi.

    I have an idea for a video that you might like to make. I found a way to eliminate the need for an antenna wire which allows me to locate the SDR at the antenna and still use standard software such as SDR# on a remote computer. All of the software is already written and runs on the Raspberry Pi. Both the SDR and Raspberry Pi (RP) are located at the antenna and the RP runs software that emulates a USB connection over WIFI. The computer running SDR# is remote from the antenna and thinks it is talking over USB to the SDR dongle. If you are interested contact me and I will tell you the details.

You now don't all the digital modes anymore, server settings are now GUI based, and the map now requires you to build your own API before it will work. I do like Raspberry Pi's, but really don't go that route if you want more than 3 clients connected at one time.
