    Right off the bat the guitar... I have been making guitar cutting boards using a full size template for a Strat from a build I did with my son. I am going to grab that guitar file, and probably make smaller templates for more manageable sizes. I had a background in drafting, but even with that the CNC has been a learning experience.

      Its easier then it sounds, normally you'll end up with 2 different toolpaths to run, once the 1st path is done it then should return to the position you started at, the only real thing you have to do is zero the z axis to the material again since you put in a new bit. Might have to raise the z axis some also to change bit out, long as you don't move the y or x axis then everything should stay aligned.

    If anyone is looking to buy a cnc with sole purpose of making money,…dont. You’re not getting rich even with multiple machines,if you don’t have your MARKETING locked in, those machines will sit idle. You can have a great quality product but without marketing no one will know that you have a great product. Etsy and eBay won’t cut it

      Varies by CNC machine's "Z-Travel". The model he's showing ($2300 base price) has a 4" Z travel.
      I got started with a real basic kit off Amazon ($500) and even it can do 2.8" Z which fits a 2" thick board. I've been making coasters and small cutting boards and the like on it.
      Mine is a lot smaller on length and width, though, because it's geared towards metal, but they make 'em in all sizes!

      @Mike-ou5ps Рік тому

      I've had this conversation before with Matt and others (Howdy Mr. 731).
      The plain jane nuts n bolts of it is that using CNC to shape wood is NOT "woodworking", it's automation. Slap a piece of metal on there, is that now "metal" working?
      No. There's no skill involved in using the tool yourself to shape the wood/metal. The "skill" is in the programming of the computer, the CAD software. That, in of itself "IS" a skill and has quite a learning curve to it. I've programmed, written and drew, as well as written decisive "G" code. It can be extraordinarily time consuming depending on the intricacies of the project.
      But is it "woodworking"?
      No. It is not.
      Others say using any tool then to shape wood isn't woodworking then. And that's not true. To those who say that, go ahead, shape your wood with your fingers and fingernails.
      A tool of some sort is always used. Hand chisel or electric router.
      The difference between hand held tools vs. CNC is the INDIVIDUAL wielding the tool and his/her skill and experience with that tool.
      But....The point of Mr. 731's video wasn't about that, it was about making profit off of easy to do designs if you had the means to do so. Period.

    • @Mike-ou5ps
      @Mike-ou5ps Рік тому

      @@bw162 And so too the dogma continues. As per your own analogies. If you're a pilot and then hit the auto pilot button, are you then the one flying the plane? No, you are not. The computer is flying the plane, you are just sitting there monitoring the instruments.
      Same thing with a CNC. You are NOT in control of the work being performed, you are an observer.
      As I mentioned before, I've got the skill to run and write cnc programs too. I know what goes into it and it is ALOT of hard work. But in the end, it's the machine following a program. MUCH different than the machine in your Skull and you using your hands to control the tool.
      The guy I learned CNC from had 15 years under his belt, but he couldn't cut a straight line on a tablesaw to save his life. He was a CNC machinist, NOT a woodworker.

    • @Mike-ou5ps
      @Mike-ou5ps Рік тому

      @@bw162 Nor was I implying you were.
      It was in reference to this particular debate that's been going on for years and years about "IS using a CNC to carve/shape wood actually "woodworking""? 😳
      There's 2 sides to the coin and always will be.
