I am 31 and love my Isla S2400. I never touched a SP1200 but as a Hip Hop Head I just have to say - thank you, Isla Instruments! Seeing you guys do your work basically makes me feel like I am walking with Giants... History is in the making with this modern day classic device receiving this wonderful update! I grew up with the last few copies of floppy discs and have a black and white memory of old technological OS and UIs and this is just wonderful in such a otherwise distracting, fast and flashy world we tend to live in... just... inspiring and timeless! Thanks for your efforts to the music community! Can't wait for further updates on DSP Card either! Much love and respect from Germany! Edit: That ending was another classic in iself! 🤣
The corksniffing! hahaha. Loved it! Nice touch!
Placed my order, soon my PC will be a 2 track tape machine!! ❤
The team at Isla Instruments has truly outdone themselves. Great job guys!! I will be pre-ordering this evening!
I'm gonna buy every last thing this dude makes just on principle alone. The 2400 is so goddamn well built and good at everything, the build quality is NASA level and the way updates came was wild. That said- sir. Kind sir, for the love of god hit up Strymon and let me stuff my BigSky into the 2400.
Akai should be taking notes
Based. If I can run the three plugins I really love, this board will probably have me selling the Force
That’s a fact. Crazy! I’ve never seen a dsp card upgrade for any drum sampler like this in my life.
I mean… be fair. The MPC line, essentially just PCs these days, already supports a range of quality effect plug-ins like the Air suite. So in a way, Isla “took notes” 😂 to add effects. This add-on hardware will have advantages, but as it’s add-on, not everyone will have it, making it a niche within an already niche product, so getting a wide range of plug-ins written might be a tough task. Maybe plug-ins can be written using an SDK and lots of options can be created by an enthusiast community. As Brad mentioned, I’ve also never been completely sold on built-in effects and despite the quality and power this brings I don’t know if I can justify upgrading. But I’m very happy to be supporting a company that does projects like this.
@@ReadeMoore
It is fair. If Akai is going to make a weak computer, Akai should at least make it user upgradable like Isla does. Akai knows how to do this but they choose to hamstring their MPCs to the point where basically every single MPC is the same with exception of maybe one (depending on how generous you want to be)
@@jloiben12 It’s a difference in approach. Akai delivers very powerful hardware right out of the box, more powerful that the S2400 which places emphasis on workflow and directness I wish the MPC still had in a way - I have an MPC3000 and an SP1200 and that’s the production era and workflow many users gravitate toward the S2400 for. Now the MPC line is primarily driven by software, which Akai updates reasonably often, and to your original comment, Akai already have offered a lot of plug-ins, with GUI on a large touchscreen interface.
I’d like to see Isla “take some notes” from Akai and create an optional computer-based interface to build programs, manage settings… and I’d love to see Isla offer an upgrade for the S2400 drumpads to be a little more like the feel of the MPC line.
It's iconic before the card is factored in. Isla is going for the fatality.
Right!?
@Rockniss You nailed it!!!
Congrats!! This is a HUGE upgrade for the s2400!!
What a fantastic instrument. It sounds amazing and it's a joy to use.
Exciting times!! And I love that all your vids are old school house music based, rather than hip hop. ✨🕺🏻.
House music 'till I die!
You guys are such an inspiration. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

It appears that machine just gets better! Really appreciate the work you are putting into the S2400. Thanks for sharing this update!
Salute!
Absolutely ecstatic for you and the team, Brad!
🙏 For mapping the parameters to the faders & pads, given me the final push to pull the trigger.
Almost as excited as your daughter is with her salsa!!!
Just so unbelievably impressive how forward this is taking this machine. Running Vulf compressor and SoundToys on here.... it's a wraaaaaaap. Love you guys!
good to see this demo; but really want to hear about the analog filter card
Me too. The analog filter card is what I am waiting for.
@@nathanielblue Same.. I have no interest in this dsp card.
Bringing the master outs to life thanks to the awesome hw/sw bus structure, enough power and storage for instrument plugins, the sp-404 killer mode, using it as an outboard effects processor.... Awesome work guys, this keeps the great workflow while adding so much power.
Very excited for this upgrade !!!
Cheers to ISLA 🥂
Awesome upgrade brother!! Very Happy I copped the s2400
Amazing Brad! Reverb sounds nice and warm, can't wait :)
Love the cork sniff
Ya'll killin it. Thank you 🔥🙏🏾
This is so much more than I thought it was going to be. Crazy! 😯
cheers gramps x
Great work Brad !! You are the MAN 💯💯🐐
Once again, great stuff!!!🎉
Brad your killing it !! And a guitar pedal inspired 2400 would be lit with all the effects 😂🏃🏾♂️💨❤️❤️❤️
I'm really happy for Isla's success and I love the s2400. I just really wish you would keep your word on putting LFOs in the OS. I dont need fancy efx cards or more complex features. Please dont forget about the basics.
finally the time has come... can't wait to get my hands on one! It feels like it's been forever haha
17:19 Isla stank face was classic... the minute she heard the ISLA :) hm²
Your daughter smiles just like you Brad 💯
omg. that sounds amazing. it sounds like a record.
wow! thanks!
@@ISLAInstruments I'm not even joking. I feel it could go straight to mastering, and into the cutter. that would be a test of test. just signal into a mastering rig, that goes directly into the cutter , in real time. maybe you can make that happen heh heh. And you're still in the Beta!! the limiter/compressor/3 band eq plus the reverb/delay/bit crusher. Is killllliiinnggg it. maybe keep a version of that unit around and all the programming as a back up , just in case the "improved" version doesn't deliver with the same kick ass sound . the samples didn't even sound like samples after you were done with that set up. and also, that house beat is LEGEND.
nice one Brad 👌🏼
great work!
Can't wait!
Interested in seeing what people do with this one 😮
Ooo Lah Lah ! insta order for me. wow. the mpc sonic sound killer, its a super villian !
Cool shit Brad! I think the track is dope btw!
Down playing yourself on the beat Brad, house head here so diggin the cheeky bootleg 😎
Ex wife was digging it as well 😂
This is crazy!
Nice cameo, Isla!
Thanks! 😄(from Isla)
Ordered immediately. I do have a ton of questions though. Curious if the different channels will be able to interact, such that sidechain compression is possible
Thanks for the update, looking forward to it. Btw, what is the keyboard on the side of you?
Oh snap!!! Effects is gonna smoke. I now need to go to s2400 school.
impressive piece of hardware. instant purchase from me when the pre-orders go live. i'm really more way interested in the analog 8 outs board though.
Ohhhhhhhh Shhhhiiiiiittteeeeeee! 👁👁💥💯❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
If I was on the fence before, I'm surely getting one now!!...... ( I was never on the fence... I want one so bad!)
Ok this is a must have
Fresh
Great! I plan to order in the next few days. then I can finally say goodbye to my computer
Placed my order before video started, now I only need some more filters.
I dont know if it is in the plans but having the plugin parameters controlled/automated by the envelop would be nice
Woah dude this is even crazier than I imagined. 😀
cant wait
Some specs appear better than the current MPCs… and this is just for effects? Impressive.
which ones?
Corksniffers is a great artist project name.
Nice one 👌🏻 Can‘t wait to get mine 😁 hopefully the installation won‘t be too difficult (opening devices makes me super nervous because I’m not the tech guy 😅)
for the scaredycats, we can always fit it for you!
@@ISLAInstruments do you offer this upgrade service in germany, too? (Will check your upgrade UA-cam tutorial before)
nice one squad
Seems like in the end I’ll be adding the 2400 to my rig ❤
Hi ISLA TEAM,
I know you have a lot on your plate already.
Could you please take some time out of your hectic schedule, and make completely new s2400 videos.
With focus on making complete songs.
The current videos are ok, to a point if you just want to know about features but not how to use them to make songs from beginning to end in different genres. Which we know use different techniques .
I love the product, built like a tank and the unit sounds awesome.
Thank you in advance
Never have I respond to a UA-cam thumbnail & instantly made the same face as the person,
Thumbs up if your also grinning like a Cheshire Cat 😂
AwW Yeah !!! Great 👌🏼
You were just being modest about that track.
Dammmit! I just ordered it! your damm good at convincing me to spend my $$ instead of on my starving kids, if I had any.
Thanks for the update, great news!
I understood you are also planning an analog filter expansion. Will it be possible to fit both cards (DSP and filters)? Or is it either-or?
Are you planning to sell the DSP card also via your distributors in Europe?
Thanks and well done!!!
Edit: SALSA!!!! X-D
Yes both cards will co-exist happily, although that project is at the moment on the back burner as I wasn't very happy with how it sounded. I'll get back to it after caladan!
@@ISLAInstruments That's great to know, thank you for answering!
Sounding great, you corksniffer. ;-)
I'd sniff yours!
Hi! Can fx be resampled?
So wait you can load the vst instrument without being tethered to computer?
at least you did not give up on the idea - i’m still not vibing with the digital filters. but i’m not on the latest firmware. perhaps you added new / better algorithms in the meantime?
I'm curious which types of vst plugins will work on this (32bit/64bit ? win/mac/linux? vst2/vst3?) I'm hoping it can support older 32 bit vst's alongside newer ones.
Are you going to sell the unit with the card upgrade included?
I'm selling my mc 707 to fund part of the s2400, so I hope sooner than later I'll be pulling the trigger on this beauty.
The specs on that ARM processor/computer sound very similar to what Akai is using in their current flagship MPC and 61-key keyboard MPC. "4GBs of RAM."
With that said, I like the idea of implementing this into the S2400 and adding an immense amount of mixing and effects possibility. Unlike the new Akai MPCs , the S2400 already sounds very good out of the box with it's nice sounding converters. I can only imagine how good it will sound with the new DSP processor and high-quality effects and mixing capabilities. The S2400 is going to destroy the MPCs. I guess I'm going to have to try to get me one now.
God damn, Brad. God damn. Ordered before the end of the video lol. Thanks! :D
Has me wondering about the Dwarf MOD plugin ecosystem as it's also a Linux platform >_>
And then there are things that would let people roll their own plugins in various software.
I AM HYPE FOR THIS LOL
**EDIT** just had an idea while you were talking about the SP and live-performance mode... Boss makes a sampler called the RC-505 and it's a very similar format hardware-wise, being able to use the S2400 like that would be so awesome :D
I'm aware of that Dward MOD plugin system, and actually all those plugins already work on the S2400 DSP card. Well, I say all, I mean all the ones I have tested.. patchstorage.com/platform/lv2-plugins/?search_query=&tax_platform=lv2-plugins&tax_target%5B%5D=rpi-aarch64&tax_post_tag=&orderby=modified&wpas_id=search_form&wpas_submit=1
@@ISLAInstruments that's so great, thanks for responding! :D
I'm going to see how far I can get using PlugData before summer is over...
Vitalium is the ARM version Vital :D
God Damn!! Take my money will you!
🎉❤
Did you guys make the usb floppy drive yet ?!?
You should consider making the fx parameters cc controllable! So they can be automated from externally like other parameters on the s2400...
wait can you run synth VSTs?
Hello,
With this update. Is it possible to open several projects at the same time and switch from one to another? I'm thinking of using it live. Thank you
No, you'd have to buy another S2400 and use them like a pair of decks! ;)
that‘s all grand. diggingthe demo, too. but what‘s up with the analog filter card?
It's on teh backburner until after caladan. It needs a lot more work to sound good.
@@ISLAInstruments ❤
Ok I am still using a thinkpad with 8gb ram so this “vintage” analog sampler happens to have twice the ram as my laptop. Oh sheesh. It doesn’t take much to out do my tech but This thing is world class x100!
Install a distro of Linux on that Thinkpad and start messing with Ardour and the plugins for it.
On the day I receive my White S2400 - the stars have aligned, i bought a lottery ticket
Sounds good but please roll out the glitch plugin demos.
So when using the individuakl 8 multi outs such as when recording to DAW, where would the 2 channels of bus FX be applied? I'm assuming to the 2 master outputs only?
You can choose to route the 2-track to USB out or the 8-bus to Usb out, but not both at the same time.
@@ISLAInstruments thanks for your reply! But normally, the bus FX will be applied to the master outputs as the default. Right?
So any plugin with compatible format? What am I missing.
yup, exactly.
bruh i bought this without even seeing the demo.
Just pre-ordered mine! When can we expect a software update with bug fixes for the S2400?
Thanks! If there are some specific bugs that you know of that you think we don't, please visit the forum and post about them. We fix bugs as fast as we can. :)
@@ISLAInstruments I am a very active forum user :) just hoping to get an ETA for a software update.
Are the preorders at a discounted price?
yes until the manufacturing order is placed.
Yo Brad!What are the effects?
There are many, which are all open source right now, but as I said in the video, working with a few commercial developers to get some great stuff ported to S2400!
Fixed Filterbank please !!!
Sorry, I’m a bit thick - how would one get plugins onto the machine? And which plugins are compatible? I feel like this machine has developed warp speed since I last checked in.
By simply dropping the files onto SD Card. VST, LV2, CLAP plugins targetted for Arm Linux. We are compiling a list and also talking to 3rd party developers about porting their plugins to the S2400. But 100s if not 1000s are already in the wild. We can show you where to get them, but we can't neccessarily put them on the machine ourselves due to licensing restrictions.
@@ISLAInstruments got dam
LOL at smelling the corks
I bought the upgrade... And don't even own a 2400 . Yet.
Yes it's that impressive to me.
So is this the effects card
What about the analog filter
Agreed, in my humble opinion the analog card is more relevant than the card efx. Well done to Isla for continuing supporting this product
Make a stand alone effect box of the DSP module.
Was already planning to. A modern desktop dp4
This entire project is amazing BUT: why create that little display? It's so pity editing parameter with it
Thanks! Well, You don't need a flashy big display to make great music. Some people prefer to use their ears and feel the machine. To each their own I say! :D
@@ISLAInstrumentsWould a hardware update (a card with an HDMI output), or a future software update that would allow me to add an external screen be on the horizon? It would be great for those of us with impaired sight to be able to have a separate, larger display for the device. Obviously, Isla has a lot of work immediately in front of it, but I just wanted to mention this, so it would at least be on your radar.
HOLY FADUKE MOLE! I'm all in. Take my money meow. Love you.
I thought he was gonna have a stroke when he said launch😂😂😂also after seeing the inside it shouldn’t cost more than 500.00…..I build custom amp in my spare time😊
I'm sure you do, and that's great. But hundreds of hours of software development is everything but free. I think sometimes people don't take that into consideration. :)
SAALSAAAAAA :))
She brings the spicyness!
Ok now thats great! So i'll buy this which i can afford first and then the S2400 !! Hahaha ( I feel so dumb i didnt buy the first ones that costed about $1000.. So dumb)
