The amazing thing about this is the amount of fill that was brought in to build the embankment for the runway... it needed a special, temporary railway line to be built! Great video, thank you.
If you would have stayed on the left tunnel path, that will take you past the dead tree in the field and to runway 1 landing lights, the best view in my opinion, cool video
Wow mate, how have I never seen this,,I go for walks all the time round there at the back getting my steps in haha,,gess where I’m going haha,,not sure where you started,,we usually go where the fence is where everyone parks just off roundabout.👍
Blimey, I used to walk the loop starting at the Mobberley end of the runway, up to the tunnel, cross under and and follow the paths and fire access road back to Mobberley most Sundays. Used to regularly see a Coronation St “mechanic” walking his dogs. I’m in Surrey now but loved this video for the memories.
@@James_and_Laura ❤ I get to walk around the perimeter of Kenley Airfield, over the hill from Biggin Hill. It’s a retained airfield by MOD and is part memorial to Battle of Britain airmen English, Canadian and Polish etc. It is only used by gliders currently, a gliders club and RAF training and an Air Cadets centre. My daughter lives adjoining the perimeter and we walk her retriever there, it’s very popular with dog walkers unlike the Runway 2 walk we used to do, that was always quiet.😅
I've flown on the A380 from Manchester to New Zealand via Dubai 14 times now, that's over 600 hours as a passenger, but I've yet to see one take off or land from the outside!
Been to the track at 02:52 a few time over the last 8 years and having booked a hotel room for a long weekend each time, I get to spend whole days there each time. There are little pockets where the bushes are trampled down to give enough room to get set up with a camping chair and all your photo gear. With a decent lens, it's a superb location for landing shots. I've done the tunnel a couple of times as well.
Nice video …. All river bridges are numbered in the uk or date built MM stands for built in 2000 …. mm being Roman numerals M is 1000 so tunnel was built 1 year before runway
Thanks Tom! 🙂👍 Yes, I assumed the MM stood for the year built but then I read an article in the Manchester Evening News that gave the explanation that I put on the screen. I should have probably stuck with my gut instinct 😄 Cheers for watching 👍👍
Thanks for watching Nick. Yes, been to the visitor park briefly but haven't spent the time to have a proper look around. Must go back soon for a nosey, cheers 👍
If it's the roundabout I think then there's a public footpath marked on Google Maps from the roundabout, around the fire station and straight towards the tunnel. Hope this helps. Cheers, James
Morning, just found this video.how do you get to thia place?i am a bit surprised you can get there and find no gates on it for clear reasons.great watch though.
Thanks Nigel. I parked at the end then followed the footpath along the eastern side of runway 2. This eventually brings you to the tunnel entrance. Cheers, James
put these co-ordinates in google maps, it is a public footpath which also takes you round the back of the airport firestation before arriving at the tunnel. start 53.3428, -2.2798 - tunnel 53.3414, -2.2875 park cheaply at the hotel 53.3430, -2.2769

Didn't know about the temporary railway line, but makes sense I guess. One massive engineering project! Thanks for watching 🙂👍
I love videos like this, interesting and well filmed, Thanks 👍
Thanks Brian. My first attempt at filming this type of video, so I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Cheers, James
There's nesting boxes in the ceiling for bats. Love it round there. Top watching the planes at the end of runway one. Nice vid.
Thanks Chris. Interesting about the nesting boxes, I never noticed them. Thanks for watching. Cheers, James
Great video.
Thanks Steve!
Enjoyed that! Thanks a lot, like yourself & some others, never knew that tunnel existed
Thanks Geoff! Cheers for watching 👍
Now I really want to hear what it sounds like when an aircraft goes across it for myself!
I’ve just subscribed to your channel. Thank you
Thanks Jane, it's much appreciated! 🙂
Brilliant video James. Thanks for taking us along. 👍
Thanks Sue, glad you enjoyed! 😊
👍🏻 nice. 👨🏻✈️✈️
Wow! I had no idea such a tunnel existed. Thanks for showing us 👍🙏
I wanted you to carry on up the track to see where it led to, but nevermind 😀
Thanks for watching Steve! Perhaps next time for the track 😁👍

I'll bear that in mind for next time I visit! Thanks for watching 👍
This is so cool James, didn't know there was a tunnel beneath runway 2. Will have a wander around there
Yes, me neither until a few days ago! Well worth a visit. Thanks for watching 👍
@@James_and_Laura Where do you recommend to park my car?
@qasimawan3569 follow the footpath along the east side of runway 2 to the tunnel 👍
@@James_and_Laura Nice one mate, thanks a lot. Also subbed! :) Looking forward to more future content
Thank you, much appreciated, cheers 👍

U looking over the edge put me on edge 😂😂 jesus heights 🤐🤐
😂 Haha. Yeah, I'm not keen on heights either! 😬

Blimey! I've yet to fly on one. I saw it land the day I filmed this, an incredible sight!

Styal woods is just at the back of you which is a good walk… or go to the concord hanger and look at the planes
Thanks for watching Nick. Yes, been to the visitor park briefly but haven't spent the time to have a proper look around. Must go back soon for a nosey, cheers 👍
Could you send directions how to get to the tunnel under runway please from near it at mini roundabout underneath the road that goes under runway
If it's the roundabout I think then there's a public footpath marked on Google Maps from the roundabout, around the fire station and straight towards the tunnel. Hope this helps. Cheers, James
Oh and the A380 goes off runway 1 and boards at gate 12 as only gate big enough
MM is definitely a year marker
I'm assuming this won't be the one that Swampy, and his friends, dug back in the 1990s.
Haha, no I don't think so! 😄
Flown on Emirates A380 Over 60 time's its the best
Wow! 😎 An incredible plane, would love to fly on one at some point!
what’s the location of the start of the video?
It's from the footpath on the east side of runway 2 (southern end). Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Everyone and his dog knows about the tunnel.
Evidently not 😂
Well I didn't?
Everyone and his dog, except the OP, me and 90% of the commenters 😂🙈
