Great tutorial, my friend.
I use SkyVector and it's really pretty good.
Thanks a million =)
Very helpful thanks 👍
Thank you for the tutorial, I learned a lot just now.
Glad this was helpful my friend, thanks for watching!
Wonderful tutorial... Thanks so much.
Thanks for this! Definitely didn't know all the tricks skyvector has to offer.
Glad this was useful for you, thanks for watching!
Once again a great tutorial, I have Skyvector but I have never used it for other than USA routes but will give it a go thanks to your tutorial, I agree the best is Navigraph but for someone who does not want to go down the paid route then Skyvector could be the answer
Thank you VIC, very much appreciate your continued support!
Great tutorial buddy! ;-) Skyvector is one among other great tools I use myself for flight planning. Simbrief is also brilliant! Good stuff! =D
Thanks buddy, I do use simbrief as well, an excellent tool.
يعطيك العافيه كابتن شكرا على المجهود 3>
الشكر لك على ذوقك. يعافيك و يسلمك
Very helpful thanks
Gr8 as always. Thank you.
Thanks for watching =)
Another big help for me. Thanks a million, Osamah :)
Glad this helped buddy =)
Thank you from New Zealand
Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi there! I loved the tutorial; I found it very helpful and informative. I am having a problem however, I am trying to do a departure out of KBOS: RWY 04L with the PATSS FIVE departure. The issue is, I cannot find the actual SID for that runway like you did @ 10:42 . I am using Flight Aware for my IFR plates. Are the specific runway departures only from Navigraph? Or am I just doing something wrong?
Thank you; great videos! I would appreciate some videos on VFR and VFR flight planning. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I will make a note of that for a future video.
Happy thanks Sam!
Thank you for your continued support!
Your most welcome! I really appreciate your work. my favorite youtuber!
Muy buen tutorial. Gracias por compartirlo con nosotros. Me suscribo a tu canal.
Saludos.
You are most welcome, thanks for watching!
For that example of OKBK, if you dont have navigraph whats the best way to view the IFR airways info for the airport to figure out the sids/stars? (since it doesnt look like skyvector has it)
Great Video. Truly enjoyable and easy to digest.
How do you handle a situation where ATC is involved, and give you approach or departure instructions that do not match your flight plan? Turn off the LNAV and VNAV on the autopilot and use Altitude and Heading Instead? I am using Xplane 11.
Thank you
You should always load approaches with VECTORS because most of the time you will get vectors to the aproach often past all the IAFs. Once on the approach hit the APR button and make sure you are at the IAF altitude when you get to the final approach fix whcih will intercept the glide slope. The rest is as charted.
Very good presenter👏😊
Thanks a heap Sean =)
Excellent video Osamah. I'm still re-learning Xplane and find your videos and explanations so valuable. Always look forward to your new videos. I have subscribed to Navigraph as well for the new Airac data as well Canada charts are not on Skyvector. Quick question, trying to land Zibo mod 737 on autoland. Do I need to dial down altitude to runway after approach lock on the GS? Thanks for creating these very informative and enjoyable videos for us.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words. Really glad you find the channel content useful. Blue skies!
Finally give up and do the Navigraph. The new one updated quite a bit now and the advice is similar but the route is now RALKA3F RALKA NANPI R784 EMOTA R784 TATLA DATOB DATOB1E the key is Ralka3f and datob based on the chats of OKBK-OMDB. That seems easy after the help here. Just wonder whether I can do VMMC and VHHH especially Hong Kong is a loop.
can you show us how to add in the approach as well? cause I can't add the Stars and approach together for some reason
Great video, but is there a way to move that flight plan to your FMC without typing each and every waypoint?
Yes, if you look at the icons to the right of "Flight Plan" on the flight plan window, the last icon will allow you to export to .fpl format and send it to your email address if you wish.
Thank you for the video! I never realized that Skyvector had so many helpful features.
Can you help me find some information on the first waypoint on this SID out of KSDF? It's part of an IFR route to KBDL.
JKUKA058025 JHW WILET STELA1
I can see it on the charts but I'm wondering how they come up with the route? There are also similar waypoints on SIDS out of KSDF such as IIU356017.
Are you able to program these waypoints into an FMC?
Thanks.
Do a VFR planning video!
Ok will do!
Yes.
*confused noises*
XPlane11 Fun YT Why?
@@abbysnowmist Cause VFR is litterally looking out the window, for outside references. The only thing you need to know is the landmarks
if one wants to send flight plan as fms plan how does one do that?
At the beginning you mentioned it being illegal to file without intent to fly. I don't think this is the case. I maybe request a clearance for 1 out of 10 of the flight plans I file. It's a great video though and I came to you looking for helpful tips. Cheers.
Hey there Steve, thanks for watching the video. The mention in the beginning is from the SkyVector website it self. I was simply re-iterating their warning which I felt I must provide to the viewers. Happy flying my friend!
how do i get to see iaf and fiaf? can one see them on skyvector? if so how?
my problem is getting navigraph into plane 11 its finds prepar 3 but there isn't a check off for x 11
How do you determine which SID or STAR to use without having to look at each SID and each STAR? For example, if the wind direction changes along with the active runway, how would you know which SID or STAR to use? Thx
SID and STARS are normally assigned by ATC. The wind direction will determine your runways. SID and STAR will depend on the active runway and the route, type of aircraft ...etc.
Yes, but how do you bring it into the sim?
You can also get all the charts completely updated and legally for free here: www.eurocontrol.int/articles/ais-online. I personally use Navigraph subscription also because it's all in one place but in that site you can get everything you want from the sources.
Thanks for watching and for providing this resource. Appreciate it!
No problem. Thanks for your great videos. Are always very informative :)
Hi! I don't get the charts menu when I hover over an American airport on skyvector, only metar. Could you help me please? Thanks
What are you trying to achieve? Approach plates?
Is there anyway we can use Skyvector to look for the most fuel efficient route? Insid VS there's an auto option (the green leaf you mentioned) but what about outside?
What do you mean outside?
@@Q8Pilot IE Like you showed for Kuwait or for Europe
I hit enter when i type in my approach but it just goes. Can anyone help??
does skyvector export plans to FMS (xplane)?
Unfortunately no.
you can use simbrief for exporting flight plans to X-Plane
Im having problems undersanding the stars where the lines dont go to the runway but just out to nowhere. please someone help me :(
You need to add an approach, after the STAR, to indicate which runway you will land on.
Is there any way to put approaches into Skyvector?
You will have to select it manually.
Hi G8 Pilot, thank you for you video, very clarifying.
Question: Trying to build an IFR flight plan using W7 low airway on skyvector from SBGR (São Paulo GRU Intl Airport) to SBGL (Rio de Janeiro Galeão Intl Airport) I couldn't find a way to select from two different STAR procedures on SBGL: EPGIP1B RWY15 and EPGIP1B RWY28/33. Skyvector only recognises EPGIP1B. Is there any clue for doing this?
Here are the STAR procedures:
EPGIP 1B RWY15 => "ais.decea.gov.br/download/?arquivo=74bb0946-250f-1033-8701-72567f175e3a&apikey=1587263166"
EPGIP 1B RWY28/33 => "ais.decea.gov.br/download/?arquivo=8cab4624-250f-1033-8701-72567f175e3a&apikey=1587263166"
Does this flight plan support P3D V3?
No it is XP only.
Is sky vector available for Asia ?
It is available but without charts.
6 add breaks in a 16 minutes video is a killer
Can this be used with prepar3d?
Yes of course.
@@Q8Pilot do you have a video which shows how by any chance?
Somehow I couldnt manage to make IFR planning from EDDF to LOWW and back. Both routes I cannt find the right STARS or TRANSITIONS. Need Help :( . Btw great video but Im dumb.
there is only a limited amount of sids and stars on xplane you need to buy navi graph I think its called that if you want to be able to find all the sids and stars
If you use Navigraph, why would you use Skyvector?
As a sim flyer I bet I only subscribe to one. As us is covered by sky vector not forefight. Now navigraph or SkyDemon I am not sure.
You didn't talk about the fuel
How will I know how much fuel to put in the plane
you have to be a real world pilot for using sky vector for xplane
right?!?
QRpilot No but just make sure you don't file the plan. You can use all the services for free.
if i didnt file then how can i use the route for my flight?!?
If you try this now, typing it in exactly, it won't work . . . changes have been made since 2017.
For me hovering over the airport does nothing.

just skip to 4:10 for the actual tutorial
Not entirly true about US only , If you sign up for an account that is absolutly free, you can access the whole worlds data & maps. I know because I have done it. For sim users NEVER,NEVER,NEVER, use file a flight plan! That would be a federal crime.
You must speaking german. Otherwise I do not understand you at all.
Many greatings from austria.
But in real life, you do not know your STAR at departure
That's true yes in some cases
@@Q8Pilot thx .. good video.
How can delete a flight plan in sky vector
Just change the airports and go to the box where the flight plan select everything and hit back space.
