@mandykal - those are nylon which is fairly heat resistant. It is kept around 250f which is well below it's melting point. Be sure to check out the vid since I now use an antique clawfoot bathtub. It is a lot neater setup

It looks like you didn't need the second set of pully's. Just looking at the first big pully, it appears to be just the right speed.
what is the rod made of? Is it stainless steel

I would not use the conduit to roast, If it is galvanized it may not be safe
I would not use conduit. If its galvanized it is not safe to cook with!!!

So many pulleys and belts,better buy a gearbox and a wiper motor and a stainless bar,look at my creations.
With this moter you can turn 30 lambs!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be using stainless steel pipe,you are going to poision someone with that galvanized pipe!!!! Too slow for chickens and pork loins!
Using galvanized pipe is perfectly safe, better watch the cholesterol in the pig.
