Japanese Crystal Ball Performer (Contact Juggling)

- This guy was hanging out in Yoyogi park in Harajuku, Tokyo, on a Sunday afternoon. He has clearly practiced a lot! I loved the music he played during his performance. My friends and I were completely mesmerized. He has a very expressive face too, with a charming smile... it really sells the show in the end. Made me feel like a little kid.
UPDATE: This video has been up for a while now and I have some information that some of my viewers will appreciate. First, the juggler's name is Okotanpe - and yes he's amazing - one of my favorite memories of Japan! Second, the song that he uses in his final act is called ソレイユ (soreiyu, spelled using katakana, meaning sun, is the Japanese pronunciation of the French word "soleil", also meaning sun). It is sung by Yoshie Nakano 中納良恵. Here's a link to the video:

This video is just beautiful all around. Because, while Okutampe has his own channel, this video wasn't made to promote him or his channel. This is him creating visual art in the park for all to enjoy. Most juggling like this is thought up on the spot and the music only escalates it. His showmanship, the crowd participants, and most of all the video quality it's just phenomenal. This person's camera truly recorded a beautiful moment many would have missed out on.

It is one of the most challenging and advanced forms of juggling to master... Much more creative than toss juggling and more interesting towatch and perform in my opinion.. I am partial to contact juggling as my favorite although I also toss juggle and push juggle with 3 balls.. I also really love spinning plates..it's a blasty blast.. 🤡

I love how he handled the woman who got in the middle of his scene. She was an idiot, but he wasn't ruffled. He treated her well, gave her a little moment, and got her out of there without being harsh.
You think maybe he just didn't care? Some people just genuinely don't get annoyed that easily.
Aside from being very talented, he seems like a very warm, lovely person! :). I hope he gets plenty of recognition for his talents.

I love Contact juggling. I especially liked how this guy was smiling in the performance and involving his audience--clever, and very fun.

This is magical. I can't even imagine how many hours he's put into honing that skill. Very impressive.
Without doubt, he is one of the most skilled contact jugglers in the world and makes it effortless with his humour to boot. Such a pleasure to revisit this incredible performance, time after time. It is pure magic.

Im so sorry on behalf of america that we have rude whites who visit other countries and disrespect others! Came back to this video after almost ten years. It brings back lots of memories. I used to watch it to keep me focus when I did my assignment when I was studying a degree at university.
It was so cute how he included the audience in his performance. Like the guy he asked for 'help'. Or the lady who accidentally walked on stage. Real adorable.

It means those of you that have worked hard to accomplish stuff in your life realize what this guy has devoted to this art called contact juggling. Those who haven't cant see that this guy is any more talented than themselves. please don't hate something just because you cant do it yourself. Why do i respect this guy? I have learned how to juggle AND contact juggle and recognize this as skill.

I've been contact juggling for three years and this guy still never ceases to amaze me! Even though I can dissect every one of these tricks ad perform most of them, I'm still mesmerized every time I watch his videos.
There's people who have more than him and think their lives are terrible. He does what he loves and does it with a smile.

I just saw him yesterday live. Amazing, and he did quite a bit of other stuff with rings and such, which was completely mesmerizing and unbelievable. Music was live by Koji Matsumoto and Reo Matsumoto.
The mixture was nothing short of pure magic.

i come back from time to time just to enjoy the moment. the music starting at 1:44 is my alltimefavorite, usualy i listen to music i like way to much so after some time i dont like these songs anymore, thats why i only listen to this song once or twice a year. hopefully i still can enjoy the song in the future years.

look it up.. if you want a good clear acrylic contact juggling ball they run from upwards of 20 dollars depending on size. The small ones he was using at the beginning probably cost him 20 dollars each. The bigger one he used alone was most likely more.
He handled the interruption of that woman like a true street performer and gentleman. His routine and skill is amazing, I've never seen anyone this good and I belong in the CJ community. I hope to catch him in Tokyo when I go visit!
