Outer Worlds, particularly, immediately started studdering. Wondering what was up I ran stats and all 4 cores of my 7600K were pegged at 100%. The problem abated when I limited the FPS. How long did it take to even boot, 10 minutes? And then the horrors of old Intel GMA graphics (you must have had something a little less dated than the GMA 900 at least, as that one doesn't even have Windows 10 drivers), not to mention pre-AHCI ICHs.
I am not one bit surprised that the difference was night and day, but a few select upgrades (notably anywhere from 2 to 4 GiB of RAM and possibly a faster harddrive or even an SSD) could have made the old rig a lot more bearable at least.
