The Kamikaze is a vodka-based, sour cocktail. The Cointreau is used in place of sugar to sweeten, add balance and orange notes to this killer cocktail!
INGREDIENTS
- 30mL Vodka
- 30mL Cointreau
- 30mL Fresh Lime Juice
HOW TO
1. Add all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
2. Shake & double strain into a chilled coupe glass
3. Garnish with a lime wheel

It was the very first mixed drink i ever had. It was in 1991 and at Italian restaurant Avanti in Dallas. I remember it very well.
Best Kamikaze I have ever had was about 1991 in the holiday inn next to Asheville airport, Chris the native New Yorker bartender was a master mixer 👌🏻😎
I made one last night, I can attest that you probably need to adjust the lime and sugar content. VERY sour tasting as an equal parts cocktail.

I drank this mainly as shots, but the cocktail is good if sweetened enough for me.
For the people in the back: Cointreu is generally not as sweet as lemon/lime juice is sour. If you want a a completely balanced cocktail with cointreu and citrus juice, dial the citrus back.

I just made one with 2oz vodka, 2oz Cointreau, 2 oz lime juice and 1 oz 1:1 simple and IMO it was way too sweet. Maybe a half oz simple at those ratios, but imo its probably fine without it, just shake a little longer.

No, not bitter...it's a sour drink :) especially with the equal parts recipe...I'd prefer a higher sugar:citrus ratio..
Just add 1/3 parts simple syrup and it should balance out the bitterness!
I remember taking 21 shots of this when I was 21. I woke up on the floor of a carpark covered in puke. Goddamn !

Steve the Bartender It's personal preference. I actually like the pulp in my drink. Never had anyone strain it lol. All good.
