Creed sure learned a very hard lesson: Don't ever pick on somebody smaller than your size and humiliate him. That's how people get their feelings hurt.
@@tyrese3745 Apollo made Rocky what he was. He picked him from obscurity to prominence and gave him a second shot at the title against his manager's advice. For that Apollo deserved his share of glory in Rocky 3 by helping him get his title back.

Kudos to Weathers (and to Stallone, who wrote the script) for not making Creed a one-dimensional villain. True, Creed was Rocky's opponent, but you couldn't hate him. Weathers made the character human.
+sneezepal Absolutely! It was a great decision to make Apollo a rival and competitor--not a villain. They went the other route in III-V, but returned to more of that model in "Balboa" and "Creed".
The great thing about this ending, is that it’s 100x better because of Rocky 1, the journey feels much more hard won and you really feel the elation that comes with achieving something against all odds. It’s honestly the prefect sequel.
If Rocky ever passes away during one of the Creed films I hope Donny honors him the same way Rocky honored his father by wearing his colors, the black and gold, at least once
It was also smart of Stallone to have the announcer state what would happen if neither fighter could get up and continue early on in the count because that would not be common knowledge for most since double knockdowns are so rare in actual boxing matches
Ever since I was a little boy and I saw this fight for the 1st time - the referee’s echoing “You’re Out!l to Apollo at the 10 count ( 7:48 ) followed by Rocky collapsing into the trainer’s arms always gave me goosebumps followed by complete and total elation!
My God that scene is something. The music is intense. The fight is choreographed beautifully and the countdown is edge of your seat. Greatest movie scene. I remember watching it when it came out and I was standing and yelling for Rocky to get up too!
Love the franchise. Stallone deserves the boxing Hall of Fame induction he received a few years back. He made a brutal sport beautiful and show us that same beauty that exists in the lives of people involved. IMO, this is THE best fight of all the Rocky movies. This one felt genuine, felt real, and you could see some sort of real desperation on Stallone and Carl Weathers. Acting? Yes, to an extent. Stallone had a tough act to follow after that first movie and sure he felt desperate. Weathers was damn near a household name by now and wanted to go forward. In some respects, this is the best movie of the franchise.
+roquey44 Agreed. Certainly my favorite and a better fight sequence. Stallone is a man to be admired. Not only doe his movies but for his own personal triumphs while awaiting his success. He's a true role model.
win! what are we waiting for bawjaws? let's go get your heed caved in and half blinded in yin eye and brain-damaged so you can buy a mansion for yer brother in law so you can get kicked out and end up back where you started creepo
That last part is done beautifully... everything from Creed being so exhausted that he had to drag his body up on the ropes to the moment when Creed's wife realized Rocky was determined to get up and she stands in desperation, pleading for Apollo to do something... Anything.... and finally the shock and awe of the announcer at the end, "ROCK BALBOA HAS SHOCKED THE WORLD!!" All so powerful...
All it took was Adrian to tell him to win and the rest was history. Apollo showed such true sportsmanship at the end, handing Rocky his belt and wishing him good luck. Apollo was such a good character. Makes the film complete.
The Apollo - Balboa friendship started that last round. All Apollo had to do was play it safe and stay away from Rocky in order to win,. By standing to fight, Apollo satisfied his pride in wanting to defeat rocky... AND to gave Rocky a chance for the win. It was beyond a classy move, it was the sign of a friend's respect in wanting to give Rocky the opportunity to fulfill his dreams.
Planetary Disaster actually he didn’t go after him because he was nice, he went after him because he knew that if he won on points then people would still call BS and the only way to prove to the world was to go for the knockout.
@@prosportsclips5564 You're right; Apollo comments on how much it hurt him to lose to Rocky. He had to come to the realization that he was finally past his prime, and that Rocky was a genuinely good guy that deserved his support.
@MetalReign I am in agreement with you. Apollo didn't give a crap about anyone but himself. Duke tells him " stick and move"..."Get away from him!!"...and the classic "Don't punch with him". He beat the crap out of Rocky even more than he did the first fight and would have won by unanimous decision. There was no doubt in anyone's mind but his that he was the better fighter. He follows Duke's advice. Wins fight. Retires undefeated and doesn't feel need to prove himself all over again. "You may feel a little sting.....That's pride f##king with ya.....F##k pride" -Marcellus Wallace Pulp Fiction
Alex regardless of the heat he got after the first fight, Apollo should have been smart, avoided Rocky and win on points (he had a pretty good lead). Trying to knock him out was a dumb move.
@@MrDarksword123 Apollo knew if he won on points, people would still be saying Rocky should have won and cried fixed match and crap. He knew the only way to make sure that didn't happen was to go for the knockout.
i remember noticing the terror in Dukes voice as he screamed it at Apollo and genuinely got scared ! i mean they were basically killing each other at that point
The editing and sound mixing in these scenes is incredible. It is spectacular. Hot on the heals of the success of the first Rocky, and for Stallone’s second outing as director (after Paradise Alley) it is an incredible feat. A triumph on all fronts. But the editing and sound mixing is outstanding.
The late, GREAT, Tony Burton. What an actor, especially in this franchise. Couldn't imagine this thing being the success it is without him, Burgess Meredith, and Talia Shire. Talk about some ACTORS!!! Damn, Any who, you notice the desperation in "Duke's" voice when he's talking to Apollo between rounds 14 and 15? He's knows his fighter's skills are going. He's knows he can't afford to be careless. Awesome.
Maybe because, even though he was kind of using Rocky and not the world's best influence on him, you can see that he still had a genuine affection for him.
In my limited fighting experience, I’ve already discovered that you never truly know a man until you’ve fought him. To pit your wills, raw determination and experience against each other…really gives you a different perspective of them and will definitely teach you respect. No matter how much you may think you know, there will always be a more worthy opponent. Just don’t mistake confidence with cockiness and let ego ruin yourself.
The reason Creed lost this fight isn't because he was not as great a fighter as Rocky. It's because he didn't have the ability to take damage like Rocky. Listen to his trainer's advice "don't fight him up close, stick and move". Apollo was winning even better then the first time, but he didn't want another decision win. He wanted Rocky down, and to prove he was the better fighter and Rocky was lucky the first time. Apollo had the speed advantage, better reach, and overall better technique. Had he used all these he would have won by decision or by attrition. He lost due to his egotism, he stood there pounding at a brick wall. I know it's a movie, but that's my opinion on Apollo in the rematch, I was arrogant the first time, this time I'm putting this guy down and everyone will see it. Oh shit, I'm down now.
Rockys fighting style is based off of rocky marcionos style. He was a terrible boxer but what made him when was because he made himself into a walking TANK! he could take a punch and by God he could deliver.
KrushKrills i didn't deny that Rocky had better endurance & stamina. I was stating that Apollo was overall the better fighter. He underestimated Rocky the first time, and was arrogant in the rematch. Once again had he played to his strength and denied Rocky his, Apollo would have won with a clear decision. Apollo didn't want a decision, he wanted a knockout and he got it. It just happened to be him.
+Christopher Youngblood Apollo got stubborn last round going for the knockout is why he lost..Apollo was way more skilled & way ahead on points..in Creed rocky admitted that Apollo still beat him in their third fight @ end of rocky 3 even after he trained Rocky to become skilled like himself..I always said Prime Apollo was the best skilled boxer in the series
This is a memory of watching "Rocky 2" at a movie theater when I was young. The movie entered the bridge, and from the middle of the game between Rocky and Apollo, cheering voices naturally occurred from the audience seats. Originally, movie theaters interfere quietly. It should never be a place to yell or cheer. … But that day was different. "Rocky! ""Hang in there! 』… Audiences who gradually heat up. The last scene, the scene where Rocky who is about to go down rises and Champion Apollo collapses. "Winner Rocky! !! 』\ The moment I heard the voice of the ring announcer and the theme song "I'm impressed just by listening" ...The audience exploded! Even those who stand up all at once, cheer, hug each other, and start crying. The theater was wrapped in "Great Rocky Cole". The standing ovation did not end even when the end roll was over and the customer's electricity was turned on. As a kid, I couldn't forget the excitement of getting goosebumps at that time, so the next week I went to another movie theater to see "Rocky 2" again. The story is finally on the brink. I'm a boy looking around. (... That? It's strange. Nobody is cheering. Everyone is watching quietly .... Well, I'm sure everyone is watching the climax scene with a sigh.) A scene where Rocky reverses. (After all, no one stands up and there is no noise.) When the scene where Rocky and trainer Mickey hug each other becomes a stop motion and the end roll starts, the audience stands up steadily. (Well, let's watch until the end) By the time the passenger train was turned on, there were only a few sparse guests left in the theater. I noticed there. The sight I saw at the first movie theater last week was a miracle event that happened only on that day's screening.
your not alone in wanting that , I long for the days where going to the arcade with friends no matter their race was fun , Movies like the Karate kid , Goonies , Rocky and Back to the Future were times you can enjoy at the theatre .
Apollo basically beat the brakes off Rocky this entire fight. He only lost due to his pride, all he had to do was jab the hell out of him with those rights and lefts and stay the hell away and he would have won EASILY! Instead he wanted the knockout. Ivan Drago lost the same way. Got caught by Balboa’s deadly body blows.
Jason Bourne Agreed, that’s what truly made him champion. For a short guy He had enormous punching power to the body, lifting all three of his opponents off the mat with his body blows! Creed, Lang and Drago all went down the same way. You could literally hear Drago crying out in agony from those body punches in the last round!
Yeah...no one would've questioned Apollo if he won a convincing decision. But it wasn't about them, it was about him. Which is what makes him such a fucking fantastic character. The pride comes before the fall, but it wasn't arrogance. We learn that when he comes back to Rocky to HELP him instead of antagonize him.
Mickey shouting at Rocky while pounding his hand hard on the canvas in the 15th round: "Now!!...Now!!!"....Still sends me shivers after all these years!
I loved the Rocky movies as a kid. Rocky II was possibly the favorite movie of my childhood. I haven't watched the fight scene in probably twenty years. You know how you get scenes in your head and you add things to it a little bit to make it seem a little more dramatic? Then you watch it again and it isn't quite that dramatic. This scene isn't that way. It is every bit as dramatic, tense, and perfectly made as I remembered it after not having watched it for twenty years and having first watched it as a 8-year-old in 1979. It blew me away then and it still does today. Rocky was a great movie, won Best Picture, deservedly so, on a shoestring budget, back when the Oscars still meant something. In my opinion, Rocky 2 is a superior movie to Rocky 1. As others have said, the sound mixing is perfect. The score is among the greatest of all movie history. The script is solid with a flawless plot and memorable moments and lines throughout. What doesn't get the credit it should is the casting. Every actor in this film is perfectly cast in roles that define them. For me Carl Weathers was the key. The champion comes off perfectly as a great fighter, great man, great champion. Had he been wrong, the whole thing falls flat. Stallone is great too. But everyone is cast perfectly to the point where you forget this is a movie at some point. Just one man's opinion.
This scene is powerful like the training montage before this and the music playing through this , the announcer , and the ending with both of them going down , everyone cheering , and him winning and saying yo Adrian we did it . Best scene in the rocky franchise 🙌🏽
"How good was he?" "Who,Apollo? He's great. The perfect fighter. No one ever better." "So how'd you beat him?" "Time beat him. Time takes everybody out. It's undefeated."
Yo this is the best fight I've ever seen. The anticipation, the music, the choreography of the fight, the dialogue of the trainers, all that is amazing. Even the famous line 'Yo Adrian, I did it!!' got me in the feels man. It's something like this you only see once in a lifetime.
Look at the camera guy's expression over Rocky's right shoulder. He forgot it was acting and it may be so good, that in fact, it wasn't acting. Rocky 1 and 2 were almost a mirror to Stallone's life!
that countdown ....waow !!...the whole theater was on their feet screaming and chanting for rocky to get up and when he did ...the whole theater went crazy celebrating!!!
Damn, even tho I've seen that scene countless times, it always manage to get a tear out of my eyes. Rocky is my favorite saga, and the 2nd movie is by far my favorite !
Rocky is the only franchise that made me cry. Especially rocky 3 where adrian gave a speech to rocky at the beach saying he needs to overcome his fear of clubber lang or he will live with regret
Weathers was 6"2 and 220 . Sly was actually only around 180 and he's 5"9. It is said bye Sly that he actually got down to 149 in Rocky III. Rocky looked a good 30 lbs bigger because he literally had no body fat.
If we're being honest, given how much time they had to train and how they each used it . . . Apollo should've murdered Rocky in this fight. Apollo trained like a beast for the entire run-up and Rocky only jumped in after his kid was born. But, you know. It's a movie, it's awesome and reality often needs to take a back seat to drama.

I like how Apollo accepts his lose with dignity and passes the belt over.
Creed sure learned a very hard lesson: Don't ever pick on somebody smaller than your size and humiliate him. That's how people get their feelings hurt.
Creed didn't deserve another championship belt after what he put Rocky, Adrian, Paulie, and Mickey through.
@@tyrese3745 Apollo Still The best Skilled Boxer in the series!! Even trained Rocky to become a skilled boxer to beat Clubber

Kudos to Weathers (and to Stallone, who wrote the script) for not making Creed a one-dimensional villain. True, Creed was Rocky's opponent, but you couldn't hate him. Weathers made the character human.
Stallone wrote all the rocky scripts by himself. It was in his autobiography
That's why "CREED" is viable.
+Arnaldo Cacho and it is phenomenal I've seen it!

RIP Tony Burton (Duke (Apollo's trainer/coach)).
yeah rip tony burton
If Rocky ever passes away during one of the Creed films I hope Donny honors him the same way Rocky honored his father by wearing his colors, the black and gold, at least once
Talk about one of the most suspenseful counts to 10 in history.
It was also smart of Stallone to have the announcer state what would happen if neither fighter could get up and continue early on in the count because that would not be common knowledge for most since double knockdowns are so rare in actual boxing matches
Apollo Creed vs The Italian Stallion, sounds like a goddamn monster movie!!!
But it wasn't Creed against The Italian Stallion. If you watch Creed, you'll appreciate it.
Sounds like a fucking superhero movie.
Gotta love the handraise and head shake Creed gives Rocky at the end. You can tell he respects him from then on

Ever since I was a little boy and I saw this fight for the 1st time - the referee’s echoing “You’re Out!l to Apollo at the 10 count ( 7:48 ) followed by Rocky collapsing into the trainer’s arms always gave me goosebumps followed by complete and total elation!
Still to this day buddy.
He's a true role model.

rocky is a shit fighter he gets killed in every fight.
The best line, "I ain't goin' down no more." Love that part❤
That last part is done beautifully... everything from Creed being so exhausted that he had to drag his body up on the ropes to the moment when Creed's wife realized Rocky was determined to get up and she stands in desperation, pleading for Apollo to do something... Anything.... and finally the shock and awe of the announcer at the end, "ROCK BALBOA HAS SHOCKED THE WORLD!!" All so powerful...
Still the best ending to any Rocky film.

Yup!
The the best ending to any film!
Yo Adrian I did it
All it took was Adrian to tell him to win and the rest was history. Apollo showed such true sportsmanship at the end, handing Rocky his belt and wishing him good luck. Apollo was such a good character. Makes the film complete.
When he says ".... I did it.".... anybody who doesn't well up a little with emotions isn't a real man.

2019.. and just she'd a few tears. Nothing as epic!
I admit....my eyes get watery.
Or pride overcoming sense.

It's crazy how Apollo's coach knows how dangerous Rocky is. "STAY AWAY FROM HIM!"
Alex regardless of the heat he got after the first fight, Apollo should have been smart, avoided Rocky and win on points (he had a pretty good lead). Trying to knock him out was a dumb move.

the best fight out of all the rocky films by far partly due in my opinion to Carl weathers and sly stallone's on screen chemistry!! great film.
Well said and exactly correct.
the sound lifted it to the echelons never reached since
The late, GREAT, Tony Burton. What an actor, especially in this franchise. Couldn't imagine this thing being the success it is without him, Burgess Meredith, and Talia Shire. Talk about some ACTORS!!! Damn,
Any who, you notice the desperation in "Duke's" voice when he's talking to Apollo between rounds 14 and 15? He's knows his fighter's skills are going. He's knows he can't afford to be careless. Awesome.
Well said. He perfectly conveys the trainer who sees the fight going against his fighter - all that emotion.
"Stay away from him!" Love the emotion in Dukes voice as Apollo dismisses his warnings.
Stallone nails it he’s the people’s champ
The greatest ending to any movie, nothing will ever top this.

the soundtracks for this fight was so epic!
Gazzo cheering for Rocky is one of the things I like the most in the movies. I don't know why
Maybe because, even though he was kind of using Rocky and not the world's best influence on him, you can see that he still had a genuine affection for him.
I love the the part in creed when rocky says creed wasn't defeated by rocky, but was defeated by time. It gives me the chills!!
I'm gona say that Creed's wife scream, Tony's begging and Gazzo's cheers absolutely make this scene.
Pauli’s too
In my limited fighting experience, I’ve already discovered that you never truly know a man until you’ve fought him. To pit your wills, raw determination and experience against each other…really gives you a different perspective of them and will definitely teach you respect. No matter how much you may think you know, there will always be a more worthy opponent. Just don’t mistake confidence with cockiness and let ego ruin yourself.
God i love the Rocky franchise movies!!! good life lessons to NEVER GIVE UP!
jimmy cho never ever give up 👍🏽👍🏽
The reason Creed lost this fight isn't because he was not as great a fighter as Rocky.
+Christopher Youngblood Creed is the best boxer in all the Rocky movies, but Rocky has supernatural durability & stamina
+Christopher Youngblood Yeah Rocky have great KO power and a good chin.
The moment I heard the voice of the ring announcer and the theme song "I'm impressed just by listening" ...The audience exploded!
Well, I'm sure everyone is watching the climax scene with a sigh.)
A scene where Rocky reverses.
(After all, no one stands up and there is no noise.)
When the scene where Rocky and trainer Mickey hug each other becomes a stop motion and the end roll starts, the audience stands up steadily. (Well, let's watch until the end)
By the time the passenger train was turned on, there were only a few sparse guests left in the theater.
I noticed there.
The sight I saw at the first movie theater last week was a miracle event that happened only on that day's screening.
The music at 3:22 sounds awesome. Like two gladiators in the colosseum stepping out to do battle
Bill Conti wrote one of the all time greatest musical compositions with the Rocky score.
You don't say
My theory is when they fall together at 6:45 that's the moment when their friendship begins.
simon guevara and when Apollo died and rocky was holding him, that's how deep that friendship was
Apollo was a smart and powerful character
simon guevara 110% agree with u.
A friendship that started and ended in the ring
if you fall but your Friend is willing to take that fall with you that's not friendship that's brotherhood.
Remember watching this in 1979... The entire theater was in tears... I long for that innocence again when America wasn't so bitter and angry.
your not alone in wanting that , I long for the days where going to the arcade with friends no matter their race was fun , Movies like the Karate kid , Goonies , Rocky and Back to the Future were times you can enjoy at the theatre .
Aqui No Brasil a política nos dividiu também.. almejamos por essa época inocente de volta
"Yo Adrian, I did it!!" gets me every time
Apollo basically beat the brakes off Rocky this entire fight. He only lost due to his pride, all he had to do was jab the hell out of him with those rights and lefts and stay the hell away and he would have won EASILY! Instead he wanted the knockout. Ivan Drago lost the same way. Got caught by Balboa’s deadly body blows.
Yup once balboa hits ya body them ribs crack!!
Rocky was a damn tank he knew he was armored and could take every shot and not need a “shield” so to speak
Box smart and you can beat Rocky, go toe to toe and you get broken down.
This is when champs wanted to beat their opponent, not just win.
Every time Rocky says "Yo Adrian... I DID IT!" I am moved to tears.

One Word Annulment
Quite possibly the 2nd greatest thing I’ve heard all year!
Maybe she likes woman on top position

The way rocky was hitting this man in the body. I'm surprised all of Apollo's ribs weren't broken.
Creed was a BEAST!
220lbs. and moves light a middle weight.
Derrick Wynn ive never looked into it so he may well be, but was Weathers actually 220lbs?
Weathers was 6"2 and 220 . Sly was actually only around 180 and he's 5"9. It is said bye Sly that he actually got down to 149 in Rocky III. Rocky looked a good 30 lbs bigger because he literally had no body fat.
If we're being honest, given how much time they had to train and how they each used it . . . Apollo should've murdered Rocky in this fight. Apollo trained like a beast for the entire run-up and Rocky only jumped in after his kid was born. But, you know. It's a movie, it's awesome and reality often needs to take a back seat to drama.
