Marr wrote the songs so ultimately I give him the most credit but Andy’s bass playing is really kinda my favorite part of the band. Like if this group had the other 3 and some average bassist they still would be pretty great but Andy’s bass playing is what really puts them over the top as an all time great band.
That bassline and lead melody fit like a glove, every member of The Smiths played their part and none of them could be replaced. They were an absolute masterclass - what a fuckin band.
Good god this is better than the album. The first time I heard this I was like this is it. This is the sound I’ve been looking for. Absolutely incredible.

The guitar sounds better than on the album version, and also, what he's playing on his guitar is so clever the chorus part just makes me feel so good inside and it's like just a few notes lol ♥
Johnny seems to be be struggling with the tempo throughout. This was a very bass-heavy mix on the Tube - I think it was geared towards the highlight of this performance, which was the preview of Barbarism, which followed.

I wish they'd kept it together and made a few more albums. Morrissey's solo work has been hit and miss. His last couple of albums have been kinda weak. I know it's over, still I cling..

I grew up with Meat is Murder and The Queen is Dead. I've only discovered earlier Smiths songs in the last few years, this is probably my favorite.
