Well, in the original script for FE: Fates, Hinoka didn't exist. There were only 3 Hoshido siblings, and they added Hinoka so that both families could have a older sister.

This game is already heavily advertised. But why is Nintendo targeting the younger audience!? Nintendo doesn't have to censor games made for a mature audience!

+Ken Krumbach Ehh...The intent isn't meant to be as black and white as that. Generally they are up in the hyperbolic time chamber more for their safety then anything, since even in your my castle your not safe from attack and a fort is hardly a place to raise a child, as Corrin can attest to. As well most of the parents aren't exactly ecstatic with their children wanting to fight, but usually end up caving for one reason or another. Heck half of the children outright leave the hyperbolic time chamber, forcing their parents to come help them out.
It's said in game you visit them every so often while they're in there

Seriously we are expected to believe that after two characters get married they throw their, most likely, very young children into an alternate dimension. An alternate dimension where they age so fast that some of them can end up looking older then their mothers (and in one case the father too). That is such a stupid reason to include children in this game and very messed up if you think about it.
+YingofDarkness It also causes a huge plothole in which soldiers can just have kids put them in the chamber and then have them all aged to fight and then the children can have children too and it just creates an infinite army.

well, in Nohr most of the enemies aren't killed, they are just defeated, and some of the ones that die aren't killed by the player, they are killed by the plot, and in Hoshido is the opposite excluding Leo, Camilla and their retainers...

created an entire 2nd Gen which would have been great for this game considering that the children could've inherited the special weapons that you get in the game.

The peace loving Hoshido, your family by blood, or the glory seeking Norh, the family who raised you. That would probably help make the desion easier for most people.

I believe if people keep buying things that are censored or poorly translated (some localisation of things can be ok in certain circumstances) then the quality of future games being localized will drop because the company's will see that you don't have to do a really good job.
From what I've seen some voice actors sound really bad, I believe they also did censor something regarding some swimsuit feature in the game and "rawrrrgh is dragon for I love you" is not good localizing.
Some people are fine with what were getting, others hold a higher level of quality and standards when it comes to localized games.

I'm actually cringing, I may have only played Awakening, but i don't think a bit of censorship is worth this many people complaining about, after all, Isn't Fire emblem supposed to be more about the gameplay then the waifu-petting?

But if some kind of action isn't taken, what's to stop Nintendo from censoring more things in the future? Most people aren't boycotting the game just for the waifu petting to be put back in. They're doing it so that Nintendo can see how censoring games in localization impacts sales negatively and hopefully future games won't suffer the same treatment as Fates.

Fudge!!! I really want this game but I just bought fire emblem awakening last month and I haven't finished playing it. Also I pre ordered Twilight princess and I'm going to buy pokken tournament. Video games always make me broke. ;-;

It's not a big plot point - Awakening had a plot reason for the kids - them coming from the future that would exist if you sided with Grima.
In fates it's just a conveluted explenation of having the kids feature from awakening without it affecting the plot.

Alright. That's it. This has gotten out of hand. The amount of vitriol, name-calling, and general unpleasantness (to say the least) in any Fire Emblem comment section lately is absurd. This fanbase has been fractured, perhaps even irrevocably shattered.
I really don't care about the changed content. I would have been fine with or without the skinship in the game (probably would've ignored it if it was in anyways), I mostly prefer dub over sub so I don't care about the dual audio, and the "memes" I've seen so far have been cute at best and harmless at worst. Awakening had memes too ("my body is ready", "what a horrible night to have a curse", etc.) and I didn't see anyone complain about those.
After typing this, I'm staying away from the comments section of ALL Fire Emblem videos for the next few weeks and I highly recommend that all of you reading this do the same.

+Nathan Baggs Just remember, Fates contains story elements from FE Awakening. If you are new to the series, you should definitely start with Awakening, as it caters more to beginners.

+Jed Palisoc If you're going to try out the FE series, play Fire Emblem Awakening, first. It has amazing gameplay, a pretty decent story, extremely likeable characters, and it caters really well to beginners. Also, Fates is filled with references to Awakening, so Awakening needs to be played first to understand the references.
