I'm so glad you all shared this video! I've been a Musio user since it launched in 2022 and I'm always so blown away by how much it's grown. I think in a world of endless samples, often extremely complicated to navigate for a newcomer, Musio's mission is why I love the product so much. This is exactly what I would have wanted when I was starting out. Even now, I care more about simplicity than overcomplicating my creation process. I'm very grateful I've gotten to connect with the team over the years. Wishing you the best as CEO, Chris!
Thanks Robert! We're so stoked that you've been on this ride with us from the very beginning. We're excited to continue onward and we're definitely looking forward to collaborating with you more 😁
Love this video. Open, honest, clear message. I dove into Musio last year because I couldn't resist. Buying that permanent license has been one of the best investments I ever made in my 15 years of making music. The value of it all is unprecedented, and this is coming from someone who already owns almost all of the other big libraries already. I remember looking at the Cinesymphony range costing upwards of 3000 dollars! And that used to be normal pricing for these instruments. These beautiful samples have never lost their usefulness or their amazing tone. Knowing that microphone positions will be added will make Musio into an unstoppable powerhouse the likes of which I wish I had 15 years earlier. Thank you for inspiring me and countless other people, and keep up the amazing work! I will surely do my part in telling other people about Musio. In fact I already have, many times. Happy new year, all of you at Musio! Here's to 2025. And salute to Mike for laying the incredible foundation! And Chris, I wish you all the success in the world. I am sure Musio is in the best of hands with you and the rest of the team.
🙌 We’re super glad to hear that you’ve had such a great experience with Musio so far. Thank you for sharing it and sharing this journey with us! Onward and upward!
I hope Mike can have a wonderful time growing in different ways with his family and composing career! That guy is incredible at what he does! Musio is such a gift
Great video! And now I get it. I had my suspicions that something not very pleasant was happening with Musio in 2024, and here it is. I wish you the best of luck! Honestly, I was not sure so far if I was right or wrong in buying Musio at the end of 2023 (2 times costlier than during the recent sale), that I don't use regularly. But now, seeing how it was going for you back then, I feel I did a right thing. Looking forward to Musio 2!
Thank you for openly sharing the struggles and successes of 2023 and 2024. It is hard for me to see Mike stepping down. He gave Musio a face and an identity that gave me the confidence to trust the project and the company and ultimately led me to purchase a perpetual license. Now that I "met" Chris I see the project is in good hands. Keep up the great work and I wish Chris and everyone else at Musio tremendous success and an awesome 2025.
Thank you for these super kind words. It's definitely a big change and I know I've got some big shoes to fill. But I'm going to do my best to keep operating the company in the same spirit that Mike did over all these years (with a touch of my own style naturally). I know he was an inspiration to many and I hope that I can have even a fraction of that impact. Also, while Mike isn't involved in the day-to-day operations or long term strategy, he's still around, still owns the company and is still on the board, we still talk pretty regularly, and he's pretty active in our Discord server :). So you can rest assured that his presence will still be felt. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I'm looking forward to whats to come. 😁
Well that was an astonishingly honest video and I'm sure that, given your calm and clarity, the company is in safe hands. I love Musio. It's just got better and better since its launch and the catalogue continues to impress. But I am biased. For the last couple of years I have been delighted to be one of your beta testing team and genuinely enjoy testing all of the features and catalogue items before you release them. I frequently find myself testing a patch that is so inspiring I find myself writing a piece on the spot and forgetting about why I was playing it in the first place. Sometimes it takes many hours to get through the testing list due to the sheer number of inspiring patches. I'm genuinely delighted to be able to be a tiny part of Musio's success and help in whatever way I can. Looking forward to the mic positions which will elevate the plugin even higher.
That's amazing, and exactly why we make Musio in the first place :). If our patches pull you in and inspire you then we must be doing something right. Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for being part of our Beta team. It may feel like you're a small part of the Musio journey, but in reality y'all are so integral to everything that we're doing.
Loved the close approach to your audience, I’m definitely trying it for a few months and waiting for a sale to get the perpetual 👌🏻👌🏻 Good luck Chris! And thank you so much, Mike ❤
Great video Chris and very best wishes for 2025. The moment I saw Musio I instantly could see the vision you outlined. When I was getting back into writing music Musio would have been a game changer. There was always a challenge of wanting quality sounds, wanting variety to make different types of music and the cost libraries (plus all the SSDs to fit them on). Musio allows you to have amazing sounds, grab just what you need and always have access to new sounds to inspire you. And even now I have lots of libraries (and too many SSDs), I find Musio to be a very welcome addition that I keep going back to (and keep ready to go in my template!).
I like your outlook :) Having been in music for 35 +years what you say makes a big difference :) I have an Atmos studio and i have just built another studio for my kids and my son Hayden has installed Musio through your education discount and i think its a great product :)
Nice! You definitely should. I just checked out your channel and it sounds like you like to use arpeggiators, and I gotta say… there are a lot of sounds in Musio that sound fantastic with an arpeggiator :). One of our team members makes super interesting electronic music, he’s huge into arpeggiators, and what he does with Musio always blows my mind.
In my early days I used Apreggiators a lot .. now I tend to program them manually 🙂 I use loads of strings and multi samples in my new productions .. The interface of musio looks great and very easy to use which I know will make loads of fun for my kids 😊
A wonderfully candid and inspiring conversation with us. Here's to great fun and success to Musio and all the creators in this mutually supportive dance with Musio. 🥂🍻
Thank you for letting us know the struggles and successes to accomplish the mission you are working on. We all thank you in a big way. I have made music for many years, and to be fair the majority of my samples were pirate, I never had the budget to buy expensive software. Last year I decided to not use pirate software anymore, plugins, samples or anything related, so I started investing on plugins, or downloading free good ones that I know can make it into my line of work. It changed my view and even my work was better. Since Musio appeared I was telling myself that I must buy it. I tried the demo month you offered to begin and was pleasantly surprised, so when you launched last Black Friday offer I bought a perpetual license and I can not be happier. Now I can make almost any work that I want, the catalogue is incredible and my music will be more honest. Thank you again for a wonderful product and stating that mission to your company! I look forward for the future of Musio and wish you a lot of success as CEO. Greetings from Costa Rica!
Hey, we’ve all pirated software at some point :P. In the past it was so expensive that it made it difficult not to if you wanted to use tools that sounded good. That’s one of the things that immediately stuck out to me about Musio… like “I wish I had this when I was first starting out.” I’m so glad to hear that Musio has been able to provide value to your creative process. We’re so stoked that you’re along for the ride :)
@@musio.official Thank you for your kind response. Wishing the best to you! Could you ruin Cinesamples? Of course not, you're climbing the stairs up to the sky!!!
Congrats Chris on accepting the role of CEO. Been a Musio user since April '23. It's been incredibly powerful to have so many top notch instruments that I can preview & download in minutes. Thanks for opening the door at the bottom of that staircase...I'm scrambling up as fast as I can (and having a blast doing it). And your Discord is awesome 👍
Thanks for sharing this :). I’m so glad you’re finding Musio valuable, Mike and the team built it for creators like you. Enjoy that journey up the staircase, it’s a beautiful one 😁
You know, credit where credit is due. The honesty is appreciated, and a lot of us probably don't realize how difficult it is to run a company making highly-specialized software for music composing, especially since it is such a small field that has really intense competition. And as a new Musio user, I have to say I'm surprised more people are not hip to just how good Musio is. The samples sound incredible, and I found programming them incredibly intuitive. The fact it is as affordable as you guys make it blows my mind. I don't know what else to say other than "Thank you for making such an incredible sample instrument and catalog."
Thank you for such kind words, it’s definitely a unique experience unto itself. I’m super glad that Musio’s been valuable to you, we can’t wait to share all that’s to come :)
Congrats on the journey and good luck this year! You made a great video - some people with MBAs in marketing could learn a thing or two from you, Chris.
Thank you for the honest video. Musio offers so many high-quality products at a fraction of the price compared to other companies; it's truly a bargain. A lot of us were wondering what was happening behind the scenes, but it's reassuring to hear that things are on the up and up. I also want to say that if you need to raise the price of your products to "keep the lights on," so to speak, then you should. People need money to live. Keep doing what you're doing!
Oooh snap! Congrats Chris!!! 👏👏👏 I'm excited to see what you bring to the company! I have been behind musio since it was introduced during the beta and have honestly loved cinesamples since I learned about it from my professor back in college years ago. I've truly enjoyed the libraries that you guys have created and really look forward to seeing what you will bring in the future! The relaxed and openness of the team behind the company is one of the biggest reasons I have continued to stand behind and support you guys.
I was a relatively early adopter of Musio and with every update I feel like I made the right choice, more and more. I really appreciate the more candid and transparent approach you guys are taking, and it's been really cool to watch this company grow. Not to mention using musio itself has been a hassle-free way to write, from the beginning. Thanks.
We’re so happy that your experience with Musio has been such a positive one :). We’re glad to have you along for the ride, thank you for all of your support, It means the world 🙌
Really good video. I wish you the best of luck in the future! I have bought Musio 1 a few month ago and am more than happy with it. I will probably buy Musio 2 if you keep being as awesome as you are! (Although I have to say that this will become a 100% buy for me if you do a dedicated Nickelharpa Library O.O).Also can't wait for the new mic positions! I wish you a very successful 2025 and beyond!
great video! Thanks for sharing, and my favorite part was knowing that the user base grew by such a huge amount! Glad to be on the journey since the start :) oh I also liked when you said you’re now ceo ! We’ll miss Mike .
Darn good video. I have to say I was hugely relieved to see that the CEO of Musio looks like a musician and not an investment banker. I feel like Mike "gets" musicians. I hope they achieve extraordinary success going forward.
Idk why but I’ve always believed in this company. It was my very first sample library to purchase as a student (CineSamples) and watching it grow into what it is now makes me genuinely happy and proud. Can’t wait to see what the next chapter is.
As a relatively early adopter of Musio, I wish you and the company the best of luck! I own my own small business and as the landscape of competition changes, we are forced to change with it as you have. It can be a painful process both internally and for customers, but if you have a solid product, the right intensions, a strong communication strategy about what sets you apart (like this!), and the will to put in the time and effort, you can definitely succeed! I tell a lot of folks that I meet in my particular music community about Musio, as I believe it is an incredible value for what you get. Not perfect yet, but truly what is? Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts and this wisdom :). I'm definitely doing my best to take this change in stride, running a business is a whole new adventure for me. But we're super lucky to have such a great team and such great users like you who can share thoughts and advice like this. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the future brings and sharing it with all of you 🙌
This is one of the best corporate reframing narratives I’ve ever seen in any industry. So looking forward to seeing things unfold free folks this year.
Hi Chris. I hope you read this, because I'm a big fan of Cinesamples and Musio and have told other musicians about you as well. I always try to share things that I believe will be of value to the listener/reader. To begin with I own about 7 Cinesamples libraries and got the "Musio Lifetime" subsciption when it first launched. That may not sound like a lot until you consider that I own over 200 other sound libraries. First, I had a hard time understanding what Musio was trying to be. Was the intent to create a stripped down economy version of the Cinesamples libraries? Was it a way to create a new "bare bones" sample player that would be (theoretically, but to what degree) improved over time? And then ALL your products will eventually be moved over to the Musio player? Why would I want to purchase more Cinesamples products when Musio was adding new libraries? The marketing and messaging of Musio was muddled and confusing. What the heck? Musio 1? Do I have to buy that too? What's up with that? I could share more but I think you get the picture. I'm actually still somewhat confused. Having said that, here's some good news: First: the quality of every sample is pretty much sonically wonderful...clean, clear, full and beautiful. Second, psychologically, getting a MUSIO update feels like getting a new sound library for free. That, to me, would be a great marketing hook; and that's how I sell it to my own friends. Third, the heartfelt openness and transparency reinforces that you and your team truly care about what you do, about your customers and so much more. As Musio was coming online, I could sense the eagerness to please. But I don't think you hit the numbers you could have, had Musio been better described. I will continue to enjoy Musio and my Cinesamples libraries, but I find myself almost forgetting about the Cinesamples ones because I enjoy dipping into such a large, varied, fun and easily accessible palette of sounds in one place. I would consider rethinking Musio conceptually and then redifining it for your next marketing iteration. Consider this, I would not be taking the time to share all this if I didn't believe in Cinesample/Musio and appreciate your products. Finally, I am the CEO of a new nationwide fundraiser for hunger that involves music. I've been working on it for over three years and we already have some big names and contacts joining our team. We have completely overhauled fundraising model and brought it into the 21st Century. Every strategy, concept, system and facet of our model had employ four ideals: simple, beautiful, powerful and profound. When you operate with those ideal in mind, it lends focus and helps you discard anything mundane or boring. We have one core value: WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN-WIN. We believe that if every participant (or participant group) feels like they win, then the hungry will win. So we stepped into the shows of each group, worked their pain points and created something we believe will change the world. In any event, I'm sharing this partly because I loved your illustration about climbing the stairs versus the democracizing music. I AGREE! That's why we are going to include music education as part of our model. The music industry preys on the young and uses their ignorance against them. Based on where you are, I think you'd be ecstatic if you heard our plans. Because of our win-win values, we seek to partner with those who think as we do. Perhaps there is a win-win for you and us. I look forward to a your response, should you choose to do so. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this wonderful feedback, I'll definitely be keeping this in mind as we move forward. I can get on board with the confusing messaging, I think for a long time we were trying to figure out what this thing even was, let alone what it could be. And because we take user feedback to heart, we've made a lot of changes over time to make sure we're serving the community. It's definitely been a learning experience for the company, even since before I joined, but I think after a couple years of Musio being out in the world the vision of what's is and what's possible is becoming more and more clear. We appreciate your patience with us as we've gone through these growing pains. I'd love to hear more about your fundraiser, it sounds like you're doing good work over there. If you're on LinkedIn feel free to reach out to me there and maybe we can chat about it further, see if there's a way we can collaborate :).
I only tested the free trial (will be busy until November of December, I'm planning to buy the perpetual license). I loved Musio and my only complaint was the lack of some instruments like the solo bass trombone, electric guitar, and upright bass.
Great video! One legitimate question I have as a longtime customer of Cinesamples and now a user of Musio...where is the line separating these two companies/products? What is the difference between Cinesamples and Musio? This video was called "could this guy ruin Musio?" and now it..isn't. I'm sure this is confusing for potential new users as well.
Hey, thank you :). I’m glad you enjoyed the video! That’s a perfectly valid question, it can be kind of hard to explain sometimes. The easiest way to structure it would be to say that Musio is a product that the company Cinesamples makes. As a company we still operate under the name Cinesamples, inc. Regarding the changes in the video title, that’s just part of testing the UA-cam algorithm to see which title performs best. It can be pretty common to A/B test titles and thumbnails to see which combination the algorithm gods deem “worthy” :P
I got the perpetual license and very pleased so far. Good Purchase. Do I get the updates in the future with this perpetual license? Like the added mic positions and updates? Thanks and keep up the good work.
We’re so glad you’re enjoying Musio so far :). And yes, with Musio 1 you’ll get all software and feature updates as well as all future updates to any of the instruments that are included in Musio 1 😁
@@musio.official Hi! I purchased the lifetime license for Musio in early 2023, when it was marketed simply as “Musio,” not “Musio 1.” I was under the impression that the lifetime license included all future instruments and features. Will I still receive all the new features and instruments included with Musio 2 as part of my lifetime license?
Thank you, I really appreciate the vote of confidence :). We’re looking forward to the future too. I will say, Mike Patti is also an incredible musician and composer 😁.
I don't know why Mike resigned as CEO of Musio. It is the face that gave me confidence to acquire a perpetual license; i certainly wish him the best. Chris reveals an image that gives confidence to the users of his platform. With the message he gives us, he shows that Musio is a totally democratic product. I wish the best of success as CEO. Greetings from México.
Great video - love the honesty. That said, it sounds like Musio will lose its cinematic roots and become more of a collection of instruments with no particular focus, because you don’t have an orchestration background. Also, I assume the Kontakt Cinesamples instruments will be abandoned…?
Hey I’m glad you liked the video. And that’s a great question. I’ll start by saying Musio will never lose its Cinematic roots. A lot of the team including the development team and the production team are all composers. So just because I’m a rock guy at heart doesn’t mean the DNA of Musio will change. I’ll also say that I spent quite a few years as a professional film composer myself working on some pretty great projects for ESPN, the UN, and more. So while my roots aren’t in composing or cinematic music, I do have a fair amount of experience in it and a deep love for it. That said, we do feel like there’s room for a lot of exploration. For instance, the world adventure series is definitely something we want to continue, traveling to different places around the world and capturing culturally significant instruments from each region. As for Kontakt, we still support and sell Kontakt instruments. But as we’ve mentioned a few times in other videos, our focus is undeniably on Musio and that’s for a number of reasons. Everything in Musio is built and maintained in house, which gives us the ability to be more agile and get new instruments to you more quickly. We can make updates to instruments (and the platform itself) almost immediately without having to contract for scripting or wait for approval from 3rd parties. And while there will always be differences between Musio instruments and our Kontakt instruments, we’re working hard on building Musio to a place where the features are mostly comparable to the features found in their Kontakt counterparts. I hope that was a helpful answer! Thank you again for watching :). We’re excited for all that’s to come.
@@musio.official Yeah that was! I appreciate the answer, and hearing about your background, and about the rest of the team definitely puts my mind at ease a bit! I can appreciate the focus on Musio, and about expanding into new areas. Those totally make sense. I guess it's just knowing the Kontakt ones will work into the future, as much as it's possible for you guys up keep them running. Anyway, thanks for taking the time.
Hey there! From that link you should be able to navigate to your favorite podcast platform. If not, you can definitely find the episode by searching "Orchestrated: A Music Podcast" on whatever platform you prefer. Also, The podcast will be up as a video podcast on here soon :). But I'm all for spoilers! Mike's been doing this pretty much his entire adult life and when you put your all into something, other things can take a bit of a back seat. The way he tells it he had 3 things: Being a good dad and husband, his love of composing, and running Cinesamples, and he could really only do two of them. So for years his composing has taken a back seat, and he's really excited to be getting back to it 🙌. He definitely talks about it more in depth in the episode so do check it out if you can!
@@musio.official Thanks so much! I will listen to it if it comes to UA-cam. As a father of two I completely understand. Because he sold his house, I really hope he did get a lot of profit from Musio, to get a new house 😅. I want Musio to keep being a success. It's ground breaking within orchestral instruments, especially for us with a lower budget.

That’s one of the things that immediately stuck out to me about Musio… like “I wish I had this when I was first starting out.”
I’m so glad to hear that Musio has been able to provide value to your creative process.
Thank you :). We’ve got some big plans and we’re excited to share them.
Also thanks! Making videos can be a really fun storytelling medium 😁.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and we're happy that your along for the ride. Onward and upward!
Thank you! And thank you for coming along for the journey 😁. We’re stoked for what’s to come!
Musio ❤.
Still to this day of my best purchases i decided to make!
Yessss! So glad you’re loving Musio 😁
Great video 🤘
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
You've got this, Chris! Good luck to you all in 2025!
Thank you!
We’re so glad you’ve been enjoying Musio :). A dedicated Nickelharpa library sounds pretty awesome! 🤔
great video! Thanks for sharing, and my favorite part was knowing that the user base grew by such a huge amount! Glad to be on the journey since the start :) oh I also liked when you said you’re now ceo ! We’ll miss Mike .
Thank you for being on this journey with us!
Darn good video. I have to say I was hugely relieved to see that the CEO of Musio looks like a musician and not an investment banker. I feel like Mike "gets" musicians. I hope they achieve extraordinary success going forward.
🙌 thank you! We’ve got some fun things planned and we can’t wait to share them 😁
Idk why but I’ve always believed in this company. It was my very first sample library to purchase as a student (CineSamples) and watching it grow into what it is now makes me genuinely happy and proud. Can’t wait to see what the next chapter is.
Thanks for coming along for the ride! We're excited for everything that's to come 😁
Thankyou for this amazing job!
🙌 Glad you enjoyed it!
Wishing Team Musio much success in 2025 and beyond!!
🙏 thank you!
😁 thank you so much :). We’re excited for what the future holds!
You guys are amazing! Thank you for the openness!
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🙌. We're really excited for the future!
Apart from the (IMHO unnecessary) f-bombs, censored or not, thanks for the honesty. Happy Musio user here.
So glad you’re enjoying Musio :). Thanks for coming on this wild ride with us
💪💪💪
🙌🙌🙌
We’re so glad you liked Musio! We’re always adding more instruments and we definitely take our users’ suggestions to heart :).
Dang. The guy who drew me in with "seriously, what are you doing?" is now the CEO! This is exciting
😂😂😂 apparently a lot of people were on the toilet when they saw that ad… they made sure to let us know in the comments.
@musio.official that's what I call good marketing. Very personal 🤣
😅
@musio.official Thanks for your reply and that is great news to my ears. Thanks for what you do to make it affordable for us on a tight budget. Cheers
I think it is a good thing to move from a tech CEO to a musician CEO. I ook forward to what willbe coming.
Thank you watching and for sharing these kind words 🙏.
Right on! and Rock on! LOL.😁
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
this guy is cool!
😂 I’m glad you think so!
@ I just call it like I see it.
Of course! Thanks for sticking with us, there are definitely some exciting times ahead and we’re happy to have you along for the ride 🙌

I don't have Spotify. Can you spoil why Mike stepped down? Does he still believe in Musio? What staircase will he climb next?
Musio has the best orchestral instruments for the lowest price. It's like someone hacked the matrix.
You are… the one
👌💛🎉
🙌
Just purchased a perpetual Musio license. LOVE the product. Hate the swearing. Totally superfluous and I find it offensive. Just being honest. 😎
🤔🤦♂️
So glad you're loving Musio! And hey, I appreciate your honesty, to each their own. At least we bleeped it? 😋
Also not a fan of swearing. It feels unprofessional.
Been off and on with MUSIO!!! SO AWESOME!!! and I would love to give you what I consider a great idea . . . do you have an email???
We’re so glad you’re loving Musio :). We’d love to hear your idea! Feel free to write us at support@musio.com
Very humble and honest! Early adopter of Musio here. Looking forward to what y’all have up your sleeve :)
