I'm a drummer, and at one point in my career I lost absolutely all my motivation to keep on playing. I had a quite big gig, but one night, in the middle of a song, I all of a sudden thought to my self "why the hell am I doing this shit? Why am I here?". I was very close to just throw away my sticks and walk off the stage. The next day I quit the gig. Two days later I had sold all my gear and was comitted never to hit a drum ever again. For ten years I was completly happy with my desicion. Hadn't missed that life for a second. That was until I bought the Beale Street album and heard 'Got a broken heart'. Four bars into that song I couldn't get a grab of a drumstick fast enough. I pulled the handbrake and turned around in the middle of the road and went straight back to town to buy a drumset. The best shit I could find. A week later I was back on the road. This song was the spark that re ignited a passion I've had since as long as I can remember. Playing drums. What happened in my head that night on the stage and for the next ten years I'll never understand. But anyway... Thank you Walter! I owe you.
Walter, I'm a huge blues lover and I just wanna say I love your music brother! I seen you playing guitar with a broken finger and I highly respect you as a fully committed blues playing trooper! I play guitar also, and I've been in many bands throughout the years. I was scheduled to do two shows right after surgery on my left hand and I didn't cancel the show. It was tough and I was in pain but I actually performed rather well! I could tell you were in pain but you performed great brother! Hope you are doing well brother, I will keep you in my prayers! Never stop playing the blues! 🎸

After the "Jeffology" track "Blues Deluxe" this song on Walter's eponymous first American release was one that really hit home!
And you got a broken finger....
OFTEN IMATATED NEVER EVER DUPLICATED!
