Great video Derek. I had similar thoughts at Fareham parkrun yesterday! I didn't start it with the intention of going for a PB and I didn't feel like I was working as hard as other recent parkruns, but I finished only 8 seconds outside my PB! I might have tried going out a bit quicker in the first kilometre had I known I was going to feel quite good halfway round! 😁
I live in the CZ Republic, where they don't have Parkrun, so I only get to do half a dozen or so a year whenever I visit the UK. I just have to hope the weather is good and I'm feeling good! I'm going to try the Vienna Parkrun this weekend though.
When i was a faster distance runner some of my best races were off of feeling crap on warmup. I probably paced better not being too froggy off the gun.
Very good as always. Continued my streak today of 41 parkruns in a row in the 23....something minutes. Cannot seem to get close to 22...anything anymore. its been a couple of years not. My PB is 22.23 and I havent come anywhere close to this for years. 😥 Any tips?
That's a very good series of times. A streak of 41 all in the 23s would certainly indicate you can beat your PB. My best runs have often come when I've only run once in the Monday to Friday beforehand. Maybe try easing off any training in the preceding few days.
@@derekrunsagain ok thanks, may well try this. I tend to do 5k on a monday and thursday at around 25-26 min pace (recovery runs) and then push myself for the parkruns on saturdays, virtually always in the 23.20-23.50 range.

Exactly like my non-PB, 8 seconds off! Strange how we can sometimes run very well without really setting out with PB intentions.
Enjoyed the run and the interviews ... well done.
Thanks!

Come to ganger farm on 16tb march. We are looking to flood the run with local charity allies wish
Will keep it in mind.
If I'm going for a Park Run PB i take three rest days before the race.
Yes, that's an idea that has worked for me too.
