I like how gentle you are. Some of the other spider youtubers really like pissing the spider off instead of really taking the time to appreciate how they naturally operate. Thanks for not stressing the spiders out too much its much more interesting that way!

You are definitely the spider whisperer. Since I discovered your channel I have started watching other spider keepers, and you are by far the calmest, most gentle handler of spiders. Almost never do your spiders appear upset or stressed and I find that amazing. Also, please say hi to camera lady for me.

I had one of these beauties, she was so houseproud and hated it when I removed carcasses from her cage, she'd go into a huge clean up operation! I loved watching her webbing she made the most amazing home for herself. She used to attack the water droplets whenever I misted too, she was very territorial but as long as you didn't do something to upset her she was as sweet as a nut and great to watch!

Dave, you are for me the best tarantula UA-camr because of your calm and drama free style. You showed how to rehouse one of these guys effortlessly and with minimal fuss. Massive respect.
Just wanted to point out one thing. You mentioned keeping them wet during winter. My parents were born and raised in Zimbabwe and winter is actually the dry season with the rains coming in the summer. When we used to visit in the summer it would be hot all day and then in the afternoon there would be a 10/15 minute almighty downpour and then the sun would be out again. It happened nearly every day like clockwork.
I'd suggest keeping them dry during our cooler months and then spraying once a day during the summer if you're trying to match their conditions more accurately. You're right about the cooler night temperatures in winter too. I've camped in Southern Africa and woken up to frost on the tent.

And it’s always interesting to hear you say a spider can be defensive (and I’m sure rightly so), yet I just don’t see a ton of that with your spiders when you handle them. I was reading about horned baboon spiders (the newish variety recently described in Angola) for the purposes of my own research into the true spider, Rhomphaea sagana (gorgeous, but little pains in the butt). I have heard some suggestion that a larger muscle connecting to the sucking stomach could provide extra sucking power, allowing for faster feeding, but that seems kind of iffy to me. Are there sexually dimorphic differences between horns? It may be that they aid in mate recognition. Maybe they improve water retention (do they become less turgid when a spider is dehydrated)? I am not a big fan of the look of the horns, I must confess (though I am really warming up to it over time), but they pose some fascinating questions about their functional anatomy, don't they?
