- OBT babies and there removal ?
Todays video is a little longer than normal becouse we are collecting the babies from two successful pairings of our OBTs, this will show the different behaviour of two spiders of the same species , but also show how misunderstood these amazing spiders are, plenty of tips and information on how to work with these exciting spiders and breeding info.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This will become a big channel, for keepers at all levels. Absolutely brilliant ❤️
Thank you so much really appreciate your support ❤️
Im not even a keeper, i just enjoy watching the fascinating pairing, eggsack removals, rehousing etc of these beautiful animals, ive allways had an fascination for spiders, collecting wolfspiders in jars feeding them small locust and large flies when i was a kid around 10 years old,my father had a large tarantula in a casing on the wall when i grew up,it wasnt a molt it was än actual tarantula mounted with pins in a class casing,at the same time as they fascinate me they make my skin crawl, the thought of them running up my arm - JESUS CHRIST! But having å couple in bioactive enclosures as you have make me kind of reconsider the whole thing,i love the feeding part(ofcourse) and i love the beautiful setups in your enclosures and how calm your spiders are and i absolutely love your blue T's and the tigred T's..i actually Think Most of them are beautiful around 90% of them are just stunning and the Hogna wolfspiders compared to our Swedish ones are just amazing, they are absolutely HUGE! The Swedish variant is probably a 10th of the size of the Hogna..
Anyways i watch on an average 2-3 of your videos a day so now theres pretty much no more videos for me to watch so im desperatly waiting for you to drop new content..
Your knowledge made me after stumbling over your channel considering getting a freaking tarantula,i never thought that day whould come, ive had several snakes so ive brushed shoulders with Tarantula keepers(my friend actually had a mexican red knee i believed the name was?) But i never thought i whould want one for myself!
@@daveslittlebeasties love the collection m8
@@beccahallan6167 Thank you 👍
Agreed!!! He really deserve the recognition! Part of me wants it to stay a small beastie family, but that’s selfish and the beastie room deserves views! Such a great, educational, and wholesome channel!
You Sir, truly are the Spider Whisperer
Thank you so much 😊
Some think spiders are icky, creepy and generally scary; but Dave teaches us that they are smart and sophisticated animals that deserve our respect and care.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have severe arachnophobia but your videos really help and they show that even spiders/tarantulas that most people are afraid of can be absolutely beautiful!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had a P. Murinus as my first spider when I was a teenager, sold to me as by an irresponsible pet shop owner. Much lighter in colour than these though I believe different species have been marketed differently over the years. Regardless, I perservered and enjoyed many spiders over my years in the hobby. I nick-named her the 'Alien' as she reminded me of a face hugger. She'd literally throw herself at the glass if she felt vibrations of people walking past. In some ways I'm glad I got dropped in at the deep end as my respect for them was immediately pushed to 200%. She lived a very long and happy life and saw off quite a few girlfriends in her time 🤣
Nice story ❤
Our story's kinda mirror each other, my third was sold to me who didn't seem interested in my experience, I have only been in the hobby for three years but it's amazing how much I learn from reading comments like yours. My girl was sold to me as a sling but grew like a monster and like you said I have to approach her enclosure very carefully cause she charges the glass she the most aggressive gal in my charge. I take it yours passed, but sounds like she had an awsome life so sad they have to leave us great story 🙏🕷🕸
"As you can see shes very fast" ... OBT: Slap! Slap! SLAP! 🤬
never seen someone remove an obt whilst being as calm as you. im a state when doing anything with my sling xD
😂❤️❤️❤️
Mr Dave and wife ... you two are magnificent. I had head to toe goosebumps. I really enjoy watching you work with the spiders.
Thanks so much ❤️👍
I still can’t get over how calm you are and how calm your tarantulas are. Besides protecting the babies. You truly are a spider whisper! Beautiful species and congratulations on all the babies. Wonderful job to your wife for all she does. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I like to try and keep everything calm and not upset them but get the job done as quick as possible so not to stress them out too much.
Not to stress the wife or the spider Dave ? 🤣😂 Just kidding , I know you were talking about both ! 😉
It’s amazing how much this is helping me with my arachnophobia. Your calm explanations and genuine interest in them is reminding me that these things aren’t monsters, but animals.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful looking OBTs Dave!! Glad to see someone who leaves the egg sac in with the mother tarantulas!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you 👍 yes we leave them in to try and show a different side as not everyone has seen the full process from start to Finnish but it does come with its problems they can be little buggers to collect up 😂😂😂👍
Not a keeper and do not particularly like spiders not sure if it’s the accent or what but I am fascinated by this channel. I do not think I will be a convert as many of them give me chills but I do find some pretty. I love my snakes tho so absolutely respect the effort to care for these guys and babies are fascinating.
Thank you Lisa we really appreciate your support ❤️❤️👍
I've always seen spiders as being 'robotic' in their behavior. It's interesting to see them up close, as their behavior becomes recognizably almost 'mammal'. The territorial posturing, the striking, and the retreat below... There's clearly a mind and a heart to this creature.
My thoughts entirely, what an eye-opener this fab channel is. I think I've been guilty of underestimating spiders until now!
Dave I'm terrified of Spiders, but I've binge watched dozens of your videos as they are absolutely fascinating and give me a much better understanding of my fears and these wonderful creatures.
Thats amazing to hear ❤️❤️❤️
Ok, I am and always have been terrified of spiders. But omg I would be lying if I told you those babies weren’t the cutest little things ever ❤️. You very well might be changing my thoughts and fears when’s it comes to spiders.
I just found your channel a few days ago and I’m so glad I did because your videos are not only awesome but they are also very informative.
Thank you so much and welcome to our channel my friend ❤️👍
I honestly never thought I could say a spider is pretty ( until I saw the cute little jumpers but figured they' d be the only ones) These really have pretty coloring and the leg bands look almost like they reflect light like gold. In my Opinion you are both very brave, lol.
Really good video. I used to breed a lot of Pterinochilus spp., one of my favourites. I used a cut off large (1litre) cola bottle, cap end to move the spiders around, as they naturally run up and funnel into the end, then just unscrew the cap and they can easily move into a new container. When I got the males together with the females, always did that in the bath, gave the male space to scarper from the female tank, I only lost one to a particularly aggressive female. I had loads of different species, then circumstances changed and they all went. Glad to see your partner is a willing participant in your hobby, a gem which is real hard to find.
This was a great view of how tricky it can be, and how much work it is, to acquire all of the slings that other owners will buy and care for later on. It'll certainly help me to appreciate any slings I acquire in the future.
Watched this one before, but it came up again in the playlist, and I've just got to marvel at the construction of the younger spider's web. She really seems like she knew exactly what she was doing!
Another amazing video, I think you are the first UA-camr to show OBT’s in a good light! 😃
Thank you they deserve it ❤️❤️❤️👍
It is INSANE how much I like watching your videos. Brilliant!
Wow, thanks!
the webbing is amazing on both ladies enclosures
also well done to the camera lady for catching and counting the slings x
Am in tears watching how she is protecting her babies. She is absolutely beautiful and I thank you for your videos as I am not in a position to keep these but I do love them.
There very good mums.
Baby OBT‘s are really cute. 🥰
Second time watching one of your spider videos. No idea why UA-cam puts these on my home page, but I found it fun watching you catch 50+ baby blue spiders while the mom snoozed the other day. I am frightened of most spiders. Baby steps.
Welcome to the channel Ann I hope you enjoy the content ❤❤❤❤👍
All of your enclosures are absolutely beautiful. You really do put in so much effort in taking care of your critters properly.
Thank you very much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dave, I just discovered you on UA-cam a few days ago and I’m devouring your videos. I’ve had a few Ts, my first, a Chilean Rosehair, was my success story. She lived 17 years. I’ve had a few failures but love tarantulas and I’m ready, in large part thanks to your presence, to get back in the T game. You mentioned a Facebook group at the end of this video. Please text me the name of it as I cannot find it. Also, you are my very first UA-cam subscription! Well done from a middle-aged nurse living near Detroit, Michigan, USA! Keep up the fabulous work!
Welcome mate one of the best groups around at the moment is tranquil tarantulas with very little drama and good for beginners 👍tell them I sent you over 👍
I am eating this content up also. Not a spider or T fan but i love to learn!
I love the Orange Bitey Things
Im so happy to have found your channel, its really binge-watch worthy!
Thats great to hear ❤️👍
That’s soo cute the mom was defending her babies like a beast!!
I have an OBT just under that size. I like your set up. When I rehouse it I will keep it like yours, as it's more terrestrial at the moment. I liked the fact you showed patience with the removal of the OBT and shown it can be done sensibly. It's given me confidence to do this myself. Great videos as always. Thank you.
Cool, thanks!
This made me nearly pass out because I had zero clue I was holding my breath so long lmao .. you sir have crazy nerves of steel 👀!!
😂😂😂 thank you 😂👍
These animals are gorgeous! The tones of gold and then the iridescent feet make them look like they were designed by some Parisian fashion house.
i am amazed by the web itself. i can see how some scientist think you could make bulletproof vest out of that stuff.
For the past two months I have done nothing but watch spider videos this guy is the best
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love how informative you are and how you explain their behaviors!
Thank you 🙏
I've had tarantulas for 15 years and I still learned something from you, thank you and keep up the good work.
So happy to have found your channel through Tarantula Collective. You're so patient and read their body language perfectly while respecting and caring for them all. Huge thank you for showing such gentleness.
I am addicted to this channel! I find it to be very calming and soothing to watch Dave and his lovely camera lady providing us with great content. These two are great ambassadors for the hobby of tarantula keeping and hope they become a big channel in the not too distant future. I don't personally keep tarantulas (I have a little dart frog collection), but I find them to be so fascinating and beautiful to look at and I can definitely understand the appeal that they have to hobbyists. Anyways, another great video as always Dave and camera lady!
Thank you my friend I too used to keep Dart frogs and have been thinking of getting some more 👍
Amazing video. Forgive me for commenting on such an old video but watching you with your patience and gentleness is fantastic! You have given me even a greater interest in spiders! I know it isn’t the response you want from a spider but I love to hear their little legs on the plastic of the containers. When you put it close then those legs reach out and slam into the plastic. I love watching you so much! Thank you for all you do and sharing with us!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s obvious you are very experienced working with these amazing creatures. It’s great to hear the detailed explanations as you do your tasks.
Dave and lovely Mrs C.L. the older mum's markings are so much more pronounced, she is gorgeous💗
Excellent stuff Dave, very informative. Even more than the cricket box, I'd advise one of the smaller (one person) size plastic Coke bottles with bottom chopped off so you're holding the bottle cap end as a better drop over the T to extract here (need a suitable size deli cup to then fit snug in the chopped end once T is inside). I have several size bottles cropped depending on size of the spider. When ready, pop the deli cup and unscrew bottle lid and you put paint brush through bottle lid opening to gently persuade T back out into enclosure.
I have seen these being used, I personally dont like round catch cups as most things run to the corners where a round catch cup does not work so well 👍
The sound of the webbing being stretched is so oddly satisfying
I have snakes, spiders have never interested me but I have to say I’m hooked on your videos. They are really fascinating creatures, and you do a wonderful job explaining about them.❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Just stumbled upon this channel, and was grateful for shure. Great content. I can see this becoming followed by many more in the future. Awesome!
Thank you Steve for your support really appreciate it 👍
Great video that popped up today. Three years old but lots of recent views means people really appreciate them. I must confess these two made me a bit anxious!
You have some well-behaved OBTs. They threw up threat postures but still weren't overly aggressive, though the second one was definitely prepping his fangs. I've seen some OBT videos where they got that defensive just because their keeper opened the enclosure.
Capturing Mom made to look like you simply asked her to go into the container and she said "OK". lol. Another pro video.
Thank you 🙏 you ask nicely it normally works 😂👍
Your skills are so impressive Dave! I’ll never forget you saving a male from a female with a brush-in-between-the-fangs trick. Now I see you moving OBTs from their egg sacs with relative ease! You’re the tarantula whisperer. Are there any vids where you get frazzled?!
You will have to watch them 😂❤️
This really is a lovely spider. I've been watching quite a few other videos lately. Thumbs up to Camera Lady! She does an awesome job.
Beautiful little lives. Thank you for taking such great care of these beauties.
You are so kind
You have a wonderful way of interacting with your little friend, you're love for them is very evident!
This is my favourite channel on U Tube thank you Dave and the Beastie channel this awesome content.10/10.👍👌💜💙💛🇦🇺.
Wow, thanks!
I am terrified of spiders but have been watching your channel for about 2 hours now. Really love your videos.
Welcome aboard!❤️❤️❤️
I am back again to see if there are anymore babies ready for us to see. I also watched the video with the 31 junior spiders rehoused and they kept getting out and you finally got them all rehoused amazing job.
Thank you for another baby and catch video. WOW that was a lot of babies.
You are so kind
Soy un fan de tu canal dave no me pierdo un video tuyo saludo desde Argentina
Man, I genuinely quit the game I was playing, cracked open a cold one and plastered myself to my screen when this video showed up in my feed. This video was amazing: pure calmness with a hint a dry british humour. I love it!
Im honoured my friend really pleased you enjoyed it theres plenty more 😂😂😂👍
I love the OBT, but I haven't got the knowledge, experience or balls to get one yet lol! Only been in the hobby for about a year and I'm sticking to my new worlds at the moment.
Brilliant. I got to see paws ;-) Well done Dave and Camera Lady
Thanks we like paws 😂👍
OBTs have the best paws IMO 😄❤️
@@Solitude11-11 I reckon OBTs think they have the best paws too, given how much they like to show them ;-)
@@amyesworldcatherinesminime7945 Threat posture? Nah, just showing you my fabulous paws... 😂
Absolutely wonderful video, as always, Dave and camera lady!!!! Always such a pleasure watching yall and your expertise!
Thanks again!
My goodness! LOL!! I really know nothing about spiders. All I know is I don't mess with them! But the webbing shown here, is absolutely amazing because of how strong it looks. And the sound it makes as Dave is trying to pull it back to get to the spider. She's/He's very beautiful to look at though! Thanks Dave for sharing this with us! By the way, I subbed! Stay safe!
Welcome and thank you ❤️👍
People like this make me love human beings
We are always just so in the moment and always labeling things and enjoying nature, really glad to be able to enjoy this world
What a Cutie !! the way she tried to escape the box like
Excellent vibes from this channel. Been thoroughly enjoying your videos! Keep up the fine work!
Much appreciated!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She's got a lot of personality! It's like she was saying "Oh heck no! I just gave birth to 300 babies and you wanna take me away from my comfy web blankies?!"
14:53: Mrs. OBT:" Oh yeah?
Try me, puny human... and get a load of THIS!!" (lunges with lightning speed).
These are just too spicy for me.😂
But good for you, breeding them and all.
Your a true pro total confidence and calmness it’s the only way to do this stuff without to much stress for the T and no pain for you lol
Truly professional, full of compassion, and respect for these beautiful animals. Great videos, thank you!
Top notch husbandry superb video very nicely done.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@daveslittlebeasties For such a maligned fiesty tarantula within the hobby omg what did you do to her.Do you paint brush train them from slings.Calm as you like really cool to watch.Stay safe all the best.Tony
14:21 so satisfying. Her colours are incredible and how pure white the webbing is contained withing the bark as its opened 🤤
You deeply make me wish to own more tarantulas. The love and care you show towards your tarantulas is amazing. Truly a magnificent showing of proper handling and care, please keep up the amazing videos and continue doing what you love.
Yes, very different personalities! Fascinating!
Cheers mate …great show as usual and don’t worry my wife says I have a little bit of OBT and me too… LOL keep on rockin
Thanks 👍
The first spider was so beautiful! But so is the second! Stunning! But I can see why they say these spiders are only for experienced keepers.
I tell ya mate ya have very quickly became one of my favorite youtube keepers ever

Same here, I'm loving the videos too. Been binge watching since yesterday! LOL I'm learning lots from you also! ❤️
@@karly4justice So glad you have joined and welcome theres lots to come 😂👍
Bought one of these by accident when I first started keeping tarantulas. Was in way over my head.
the more of these videos I watch the more surprised I am that captive breeders don't charge more for slings. It is a lot of time, effort, and energy.
Yes it certainly is a lot of work ❤️👍
Excellent video! You were so calm and collected. That is definitely the right attitude for a keeper.
Thank you! and so glad you enjoyed it 👍
So I have this digital Otoscope. Have a look at those. I am thinking it would be great for peeking down into those webs. Having a look at the babies.
Brilliant , such a beautiful spider and congrats on the spiderlings
Thanks jez, yes there gorgeous spiders and these slings are very quick 😂😂👍
This Channel is amazing. Gosh I’m nerding out
Love this video, this is my second time watching it, and love OBTs, great great spider and many exciting varieties, thanks Dave with crew!
Hey Dave. I already commented earlier but just wanted to say I just ordered my first OBT, a sling. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Thats great Andy they really are great spiders to keep and beautiful to watch.
I just wanted to say I love your videos Dave. I have 4 tarantulas and 4 velvet spiders varying species/localities. The OBT is still on my wishlist. Lovely video as always.
Thank you so much ❤️👍
You're absolutely right, all spiders aren't the same in temperament even if they are the same kind of Tarantulas. I had 6 Chilean Rose Tarantulas and only 3 of them would allow me to handle them while the last 3 that I purchased showed more aggression in their behavior towards me! 😮 It was strange, but I took care not 🚫 to get bit by them! Tarantulas are so beautiful! I never see any Spider 🕷️ as dull in color. Their just different colors and each are gorgeous! I say that because I have heard many people say that some Tarantulas look so good 👍 while others don't! It's sad when people 🤔 think like that! Great video 📸 once again! I had 1 of those of the 7 Baboon Spiders that I had. The King Baboon Spider 🕷️ was my favorite though! Never picked her up, but she always seemed to "know" me, especially when it was feeding time and to provide fresh 🌊 water. Didn't get much aggression from such a big girl!
Yeah they're all different. I had a 1.5" Chaco golden knee (apparently one of the most docile new worlds) throw up a threat posture at me when I was removing it from it's shipping container into its enclosure.
Only just found your channel Dave. I sub to a few others but it's nice to see a fellow Brit for a change. Gonna have to catch up on your other content now :)
I love OBTs, I used to handle one of mine often, you have to pretend your a tree lol. I do not recommend anyone else doing that though. Just marvelous Ts though, so entertaining.
I’ve been binge watching your vids for a few days now, your calm while handling these spiders is second to none
Beautiful Tarantulas. Cute babies.
I've watched this video probably 5 ot 6 time. Absolutely fascinating. Nice one dave
Im glad your still enjoying it 👍👍👍
Doing a little bit of Thanksgiving prep work and the Beastie Room is keeping me company. HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAVE TO YOU AND YOUR WIFE!!!!
Same to you! my friend
Great channel! I had an OBT male that was so aggressive he would show his fangs if you just passed by the terrarium.
Yup. That's their usual style...
They pack the angry-flavor REAL hard! 😄🤦♂️🙄
@@Ujuani68 Agreed. For him the fact that I merely existed and had the atrociousness to walk by in front of HIS terrarium was enough for a declaration of war.

Very well done sir! OH EDIT: Thanks to you and your camera lady, my wife and I are considering an Indian Ornamental. Never thought I would say that. Ever.
Thanks guys you wont be disappointed with the Indian ornamental there very nice spiders I have a bunch of slings that will be ready in the next couple of weeks , message me through Facebookfacebook.com/Daveslittlebeasties/
Wow, they are absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous animals.
I love the way you describe everything step by step. Great video
Big balls Dave, It's surprising when you act calm the tarantulas respond back. I still no matter what spider i rehouse get slight shakes and that flight or fight feel. Even when i know the spider will be chill. Hope i can get rid of that one day. Beautiful T's.
😂😂😂 when your working with your spiders, work out what you worry about the most, is it it escaping or biting ? what is it, then work on that there is nothing to worry about really have some confidence in your ability and you will be fine nothing is so bad you cant sort it out.👍👍
